[00:00] In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. In today's Gospel, our Lord is reminding us to be detached from the things of this world and that we must not allow ourselves to be distracted from what our true goal and purpose here on earth is, which is to attain eternal life, to be with God forever and ever, by the means of which we follow Christ and sanctify ourselves. [00:31] And our Lord reminds us that on our own we cannot do this, but that we need the grace of God, that we need the grace of God, but for God all things are possible, meaning that we need to unite ourselves to Christ, we need to be assisted by God's divine grace and to allow God's grace to transform us and help us in our journey on earth, that we not allow [01:02] ourselves to be distracted from the things of this world. Because this is something that not with all people, but for many people, when they accumulate great wealth or power or fame or prestige, lose sight of God, and that God is diminished in their life, and sometimes even God is forgotten by them, and that they themselves become, as it were, their own God, losing sight of the need of salvation, of grace, [01:33] of redemption, and of God's mercy. And so the Gospel is just pointing out to us that we need constant recourse to God, in His mercy and His forgiveness and His assistance, and we do this especially through the sacraments of the Church, the Sacrament of Confession, the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist, in which Christ nourishes us, strengthens us, and helps us on our journey. May our Blessed Mother today help us to keep our eyes and our hearts always on heaven, [02:05] and not to allow ourselves to be distracted by the things of this world which are passing, but to keep Christ as our true treasure, and to keep ourselves united to Him always in our hearts. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen.
