All the readings today speak of the words of the Lord, the words of the Gospel, the words of God.
The voice spoke to me and said,
And they are pleasing to our constitution, our soul, our life.
The words of God we want to live on, live on and feed on them and listen to them and surround ourselves with the words of God,
as opposed to the opinions of our own opinions, our opinions of other people, which are always fallible.
And at times confusing and upsetting, the worldly information we get from TV and all the novelties and books and whatnot.
We want to surround ourselves and fill our mind and have a mind swimming in the words of the Gospel, the words of Jesus,
and live on them and hunger for them as the prophet in the Bible.
The responsorial psalm said,
Yes, your decrees are my delight. They are my counselors.
The law of your mouth is more to me than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
How sweet to my palate are your promises, sweeter than honey to my mouth.
And this is true, especially if we're suffering, we're in hardships and this world isn't satisfying us.
This world is making us very sad.
We come back to the words of God that give comfort to our hearts.
That satisfy every desire that we have.
And so it's so valuable and so important, not just when we're sad, but to live by the words of God,
to live by the words, especially the words of Jesus and the Gospel, to live the Beatitudes,
to live all the virtues that Jesus taught and also lived in his person.
And just to be swimming in the Gospel.
We're sad.
We're here to live the Gospel every day of our life and to hear it and to hang on it
like the people who were hanging on his words when Jesus was in the temple.
We want to hang on the words of God and to keep hearing it, keep reading the Gospels.
And then when it comes to the interpretations of the Gospel, keep going to the church.
Give us the unadulterated truth,
the pure,
solid truth.
We don't want to be mixed, have our mind mixed with an error, mixed with opinions that we're not sure of.
We want to be living on the solid, rock-solid truth of the church, the teachings of the saints,
and live on this and think about all these things.
And then live a holy life, live a happy life, live a strong life and lead everyone else into joy and happiness,
to eternal life.
