The relatives of Jesus come to speak with Jesus, including his mother, and we can imagine
his mother praying that no attention be brought to her, and our Lord answers her prayer by
deflecting attention to not only her, but her relatives, saying, who is my mother, who are my
brothers, stretching out his hand towards his disciples, he said, here are my mother and my
brothers, for whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother and sister and mother.
So it's not our, it's not our relations that
are
will get us favor before God, that will get us into heaven, it's not our pedigree,
it's not our wealth, it's not our intelligence, our talents, our, even our knowledge, even the
fact that we are Catholic, or priests, or bishops, or religious, or
all these things, none of these things matter if we don't do the will of God,
whoever does the will of my Father is my brother and sister and mother, not these
external things, we are all naked before God on the day of judgment, and even now,
it is whether we do God's will, we put into practice the words of Jesus, we love God,
we imitate Jesus, we put into practice the gospel, and all the words that Jesus said,
if we live on the word of God, not all these things, not all that, not our knowledge, our
intelligence, and especially not what other people think about us, because they can go
through life being really popular, being really talented, and have all this admiration and
popularity and people treating us special and then thinking, okay, I'm all set, God's
going to treat me the same way, it's the opposite, it's those who are lowly for the sake of the
kingdom of God, that's really the only kind of pedigree that's going to count on the day
of judgment whether we are little, whether we are humble, whether we are contrite of
heart, whether we are devoted to Our Lady, these are the things that are going to get
us.
So, these are the things that are going to get us special favor before God, not these
worldly advantages, so it really should make us think and not be confused, not be distracted
received by the way the world treats us god is going to treat us according to his commandments
according to the gospels nothing else nothing else whether we do the will of a heavenly father
our lord our lord doesn't take favors he doesn't have favorites except again unless we are little
as we are little and sorrowful of heart and love god and love our lady and we live for we are
devoted to our lady this these things not what the world considers advantageous or special
so let us humble ourselves before god and before our our neighbor let us always live as god is
going to judge us as god thinks of us saint francis says we are what we are in the sight of god
and nothing else
only what we are in the sight of god
