In today's Gospel, our Lord tells us of the absolute necessity to obey the law and to
follow the doctrine of the Church, and in this day and age when the temptation to abandon
the doctrine of the Church is so great, we have to be reminded by these words of the
course that is involved in serving the Lord, for even though he came to teach the saving
doctrine of the Gospel, often it is rejected in times and in certain cultures, and so while
the Gospel of the Lord is rejected, we are called into a deeper love of the Lord, and
we are given an opportunity during this adversity to show our profoundness.
And during all of this, we must always be reminded of the fact that when we abandoned
the Lord, when we had fled from him through sin, the sin of our first parents, an original
sin which we inherit from them, and through our own personal sins, he never once abandoned
us or abandoned any member of the human family, but rather he came in order to teach the saving
doctrine, in order to communicate to us the graces we need in order to live according
to the law, and ultimately he did that by the precious price of his suffering and death
on the cross of Calvary, and so during times of adversity, we must not abandon him who
first did not abandon us.
He came in order to communicate to us his deep and profound love that he has for all
sinners, and so except in the case of that singular exception, the Blessed Virgin Mary,
we have all fled from the Lord.
And we must always remind ourselves that he has never once fled from us, and so he
wishes nothing to do except that we receive from him the graces necessary not to abandon
the law, and so we must always think of the Ten Commandments not as God's don't-do list,
but we must think of them as acts of love because they are the revelation of the Son
of God himself, and indeed they communicate to us what is truly authentic human living
in the world.
They are not shackles that fetter the soul and tie the soul down, but rather they are
the freeing doctrine of Jesus Christ that frees the soul so the soul freed can reach
the heights of divine love, and that is to love Christ and Christ crucified.
And so let us always remember that adversity ultimately is the portal to heaven because
insofar as we accept adversity according to the will of God, it places us at the foot
of Mount Calvary, and Mount Calvary is the gate to heaven.
And so let us always love our Lord, and let us always love him crucified, and let us never
abandon him through trials and tribulations for adversity.
If the whole world seems to have gone mad and rejected the Christ, let us not follow
them simply because they may seem to have the numbers.
Christ will have victory over all souls, and so let us strive to always follow him so that
the victory he has over our soul is one that will ultimately lead us to the Father's kingdom
in heaven.
And let us always try to do that work necessary, not to look upon the laws of God as somehow
restricting our freedom, but they are the very charter that shows us what true human
freedom is because, like the Virgin Mary, we are all called to do what we were created
to do.
And she did that from the first moment of her conception.
She did that through the whole of her life, and now she does it for all eternity.
That is to love God.
That is the purpose we were created, and so anything that keeps us from the love of God
is what truly shackles our soul and what pulls us down into not simply an earthly way of
living but ultimately a demonic way of living because if we do not repent of any mortal
sin, then ultimately we will suffer the pains of hell for all eternity.
And so, let us always remember that freedom for the human person is worshiping and adoring
God, and the one who does that is the one who strives not to offend God by sin but turns
to him each and every moment of his life in order to acquire from him the graces necessary
not to offend him.
That is to keep the law because to keep the law is a sign that we truly love him and are
grateful for all that he has done for us.
And so, let us always strive.
especially in this day and age when the temptation to leave the church and to abandon the doctrine
of Christ is so great both to ourselves and to the majority of the world let us always remember
that Christ knows what is going on Christ is always in charge and that when our Lord has had
enough of the nonsense that is transpiring in our modern society he will end it but he will end it
in a way that will be effective in the greatest amount of souls being saved and so let us find him
let it let let us have him find us cooperating with him rather not being amongst those who need
to be rescued from the way of sin even though we know that we fail our Lord each and every moment
of our day let us at least by a good intention strive to always serve him and when we fall
whether by little ways or by great ways let us always

pick ourselves up, present ourselves to the Lord through the sacraments in order that we may always
be reconciled with him and then get back on the path of keeping the law, loving the doctrine of
Christ because to love his doctrine is ultimately to love him. And then we will always be grateful
for we will find at the foot of Calvary our gateway to eternal life, that is to that life
of union with God for all eternity in heaven.
