In today's Gospel, our Lord is teaching us of the virtue of generosity and particularly
that generosity we must have towards Almighty God for all the things He has done for us.
He came to save all men.
In today's Gospel, nine of the ten were of the chosen race of people, and yet they would not come.
It would be the foreigner.
And so we too are those foreigners brought in for a certain time until in the fullness of time
God will bring in the chosen people of old into the mystical body
so that the Church may truly be said to have conquered all kingdoms and all peoples.
And so, in our day and age, we must show gratitude.
We must show forth that love of Almighty God for all the wonderful things He has done for us.
And so, in our day and age, we ask the question,
what is the greatest way that we can show gratitude towards Almighty God,
especially in a culture that has no visible effects of the saving grace that God has come to give the whole world?
We can do so primarily by consecrating ourselves to the Mother of God,
giving ourselves in total donation to the Mother of God to be used as her instruments for the conquest of sin in the world.
Why is this a most generous gift given to Almighty God?
Because in doing so, we in a certain sense die to ourselves,
for we give ourselves entirely to another, but we do not do so without faith.
For our Lord tells us that the foreigner was justified and showed true gratitude because he had profound faith.
And so, we make an act of total consecration in profound faith
because it was the Lord and Savior Himself who first consecrated Himself to the Mother of God
when He was consecrated with His flesh,
and thereby that sacred humanity began to dwell in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
If we make the generous donation of ourselves to the Mother of God,
then she will use us in order to build up again the Kingdom of God,
whose visible expression seems to almost have disappeared.
Even in the life of the Church, often the liturgy is in wreck,
and so there are no visible signs that Christ has truly come and conquered all kingdoms,
that He has established His reign of mercy.
But the Mother of God is the sign that we are to look forward to,
and so, while there is no visible sign,
there is always the sign foretold of old, the Virgin Mary.
And if we give ourselves entirely to her,
then she will give us the grace of God,
and ultimately, the Kingdom of God will again have that expression
that it once enjoyed at the height of Christendom,
where all institutes, and it seemed the whole world,
was following the way of Christ, following the royal road to heaven.
And so, let us strive to do so,
because it takes profound faith to accomplish that mystery known as the white martyrdom.
Ultimately, all of us are called to a form of martyrdom,
whether it be the blood martyrdom that St. Josephat would suffer,
St. Josephat, whom we honor today,
or whether it is the white martyrdom that each and every one of us must manifest,
that is, the dying of self.
And so, to die to ourselves, it is most expedient to do so
by consecrating ourselves to the Mother of God.
And ultimately, what is white martyrdom except the dying and the ordinary things,
the self-donation of ourselves and all of the ordinary things throughout the day.
And it takes great faith to persevere in this form of white martyrdom
by which we pour ourselves out each and every day,
not doing our own will, but the will of the one who sends us,
who is ultimately our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
And so, if we are to persevere in this until the end,
we must receive the grace of God.
And in order to receive the most abundance,
the overflowing love of God,
we must do so by way of consecrating ourselves
to the one whom he first consecrated himself.
And so, let us entrust ourselves entirely to the Mother of God
so that she may accomplish in us the mission
of building up the kingdom of God throughout the whole world
so that what we now see in expression of the hatred of Satan
will one day be replaced by the love of Christ,
most particularly as it is manifested to us
through the sacred heart of Jesus
in the Immaculate Heart of our Mother Mary.
And so, let us give ourselves entirely to her
for ultimately, if we do so and if we persevere in such a grace,
she will, as it were, present us at the end of our lives
to the Eternal Father, showing in our own flesh
what was lacking in the suffering of Christ,
by which alone we can be pleasing to the Father
because it is only by showing ourselves crucified
that the Father can recognize us as true children,
as true imitators of his only begotten Son,
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ,
who poured himself out for us
in the ordinary things of life
and ultimately would pour himself out
in that most extraordinary act of his love
on Mount Calvary.
And so, our Lord doing this for us,
we have an obligation to do it for him.
And the quickest, surest, and safest way of doing it
is by entrusting ourselves,
consecrating ourselves entirely to the Mother of God
so that she may accomplish in us
what the Savior desired,
that is, the salvation of our soul
and hence use us in the salvation
and the conquest of all souls
scattered throughout the world
and ultimately making their way
through this pilgrimage
in the darkness of sin,
not knowing the love of Christ.
That love can only truly be manifested
and embraced
if that love is shown forth
by the Mother of God.
And so, she wishes to use
each and every member of the mystical body
to show forth her love,
her love of the Savior
and her gratitude to Almighty God
for all the wonderful things
that he has done for her.
And so, let us make
that statement of Our Lady our own.
