Build a 1-GHz Radar in a Day

In this practical short course you will learn the system design of a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar. After a short theory lecture, you will participate in teams to design and build a working radar at 1-GHz. Each participant will design one component of the radar and then assemble the radar as a team for testing at the end of the day. The participants will build a power amplifier, low-noise amplifier, rat-race coupler and mixer. Baseband signal generation and components will be provided. No prior experience is needed, other than general microwave engineering knowledge.
