Modeling New Testament Discipleship Discussion Questions 1. Luke 6:40 - Jesus says that "students who are fully trained will become like their teacher" NLT. If we are disciples of Jesus, in what ways should we be like him? 2. 1 Kings 19: 15-21 - What lessons can be learned from the example of Elijah and Elisha regarding mentorship/discipling? What was Elijah's task? How did Elisha respond? 3. Matthew 4:18-21 - How is Jesus calling of his disciples different from the traditional approach of the student approaching the Rabbi? What example does that give us to follow? 4. Matthew 10:1-8 - Who's included in the list to go on mission? How are they reproducing what their rabbi has taught them? These initial 12 disciples all had their flaws. What lessons can we learn from Jesus sending out flawed disciple makers? What kind of things did Jesus expect his 12 students to be able to do?
