Seeking to freshen the color on your house's walls?
Quite a few people are wondering if it's OK to paint over dirty walls.
The answer is that you need to meticulously clean your walls prior to painting.
Follow this 4-step method to get your walls ready for painting and make their color remain bright over time:
Use a sponge, mild soap and warm water. For kitchen walls exposed to grime or oil, clean the walls using dish soap poured in water and then follow up with just clean water. Lastly, clean the walls with a damp a cleaning cloth and wait till they dry out.
Use your gloves and safety glasses and clean any spots covered by mildew. Scrub the damaged area with a sponge, 1/4 of bleach and ¾ of water. Wait for a couple of minutes and rinse the wall using just clean water.
Sand the wall's surface to smooth it before painting. Use sandpaper to dull any bumpy surface and after that wipe away debris and dust with a cloth. Let it to dry before you start painting.
