Developer Alfredo Aleman's father starts Grupo Los Pueblos with a 1,000+ unit residential development called Condado Del Rey.

2000

U.S. hands Panama Canal handed over to Panamanian government.

2001

The luxury Buenaventura resort opens close to Coronado.

Developer Alfredo Aleman's father finishes construction of the national bus terminal, a nine-hectare terminal now handling 250,000 passengers a day.

2004

A second bridge connecting the city to the beach area opens called the Centennial Bridge.

2006

Johns Hopkins Medicine International affiliated hospital opens in Panama City.

2007

Ronan McMahon first visits Punta Chame and sees the stunning beaches.

2008

Developer Alfredo Aleman finds a parcel of land for sale—a raw, wild and beautiful stretch of beachfront on the Punta Chame peninsula just 46 miles west of Panama City. The first white sand beach traveling west from Panama City.

2011

Alfredo delivers the first man–made residential island in Latin America. The 10–hectare island has 72 super–luxury residences and sits close to the heart of downtown Panama City. It's called Ocean Reef.

2013

Rio Hato International Airport (Scarlett Martínez International Airport) is inaugurated in the beach area 25 miles from Playa Caracol.

2014

Spanish hotel company Riu opens a 573–room resort in the beach area.

The first passengers start using Panama City's brand-new metro line 1. A total of 10 lines are planned including one to Tocumen international airport and another coming from the city to close by Playa Caracol.

2015

Alfredo's company begins the hard work of putting in roads and infrastructure to and around Playa Caracol.

New domestic terminal opens at Tocumen International Airport.

2016

Panama Canal expansion completed.

2017

Ronan brings RETA members an exclusive off-market opportunity to buy two-bed ocean–view condos at the Palms at Playa Caracol from $199,000. 2018

Contract worth $1.5 billion for a fourth bridge over the Panama Canal is awarded. Six lanes of traffic, two rail lines and bicycle-pedestrian paths will link the city to the beaches to the west.

2019

RETA members learn they have locked in $100,000 gains on beachfront condos in the Palms at Caracol.

Tocumen airport consolidates its place as a major international hub with the opening of a second terminal.

A second metro line opens in Panama City.

The World Bank declares that over the past decade Panama has been one of the fastest growing economies in the world, with an average annual growth rate of 5.6% over the last five years.
