		 Subject: CANALS downloading status

Dear Mr. Kapsch,
Thank you for the previous email with captions, which I did receive. Ironically, I was just forming this email to you as well, to give you an update on the downloading. All the downloadable images from your Canals art log have now been downloaded onto CDs. I wanted to give you an update and let you know which ones our downloaders could not locate on the website, so perhaps you can confirm that 1) either you have these as hard copies or in book form yourself (which you mentioned to me in a previous email) or 2) we will need to order the print version from the Library. Before I place orders for prints with the Library, I want to be sure we agree on which ones do indeed need to be ordered. If you could write directly in this email and verify those for which you
either have a book or xerox, I would appreciate it. Many thanks again for all your work on the captions. Nancy sends her best.
Best regards,
Andrea

Morris Canal:
1 (map to be redrawn? is this available digitally on the website, or do you have a book?) . I have a map that I'm very fond of which appears to have been published in the early twentieth century. It is very highly detailed and therefore may not be suitable to our purposes. Also, I'm not real sure about the date so I can not be absolutely sure that we are on the safe side of the copyright law. I would be happy to send this to you for your evaluation. Otherwise, I think we'll have to have someone draft a new map.

141 I have a xerox of this drawing, which may be satisfactory for our purposes as it is a black-on-white drawing. Let me know and I'll send it up to New York. Otherwise we will have to scan this image either at the Library of Congress or the New York Public Library.
