MICHIKO

Daughter of Japanese-American parents.  Native of California.  Popular in high school.  Well-adjusted.  Intelligent.  Entered college as an Art major, but found herself drawn to the energy and intensity of the “wired world”.  Finally realized that she could integrate her art and computer interests and switched to a Design major, with a minor in software applications.  After receiving her degree she continued her education with post-graduate studies, while simultaneously initiating a career in free-lance web-page design with a group of her classmates.  It did not take long for this group to make a name for itself and plans are now on the  table to officially incorporate and create a formal structure.

As these plans take shape, Michiko has come more and more to realize that what is also taking shape is her future, and this realization has left her with a gnawing anxiety.  She is worried that by so committing herself she will be foreclosing upon any number of heretofore unimagined possibilities that might otherwise be open to her.  So when her friend Hank asked her to join him on a big-time road-trip to his old hometown, she found herself attracted to the idea of being able to get out of her day-to-day environment and perhaps thereby gain some perspective, despite her consciousness of lacking a firm grasp on the exact nature of her relationship with Hank.  Waiting until the last minute, she agreed to go.
