There is something about Fairvale: a super-powerful emotional pull analogous to the gravitational pull of the Black Hole that is left in the wake of a collapsed star: once a giant star burning bright, this star burned too bright for too long, leading it to explode in a super-nova burst of brightness in the heavens, followed by an utter collapse which left the star a black hole of despair out of which no single ray of light or hope is allowed to escape. The logic of desire, the dictates of the heart, and the reason of self-interest which in any other place would have initiated a mass exodus, in Fairvale were overwhelmed by this force of emotional gravity and people not only did not leave, they did not change. A stasis field has settled around Fairvale’s borders and the human dimension of time has ceased to exist: All that remains are the ebb and flow of the seasons, those intra-galactic road markers of Earth's circumnavigations, and the more gradual animal cycles of birth, growth, decay, and death.Yet, somewhere at the center of this black hole, there are the elements of a new star slowly but surely coming together, simultaneously working towards and waiting for that necessary juncture of time and space and people with place in and at which point the proper catalyst will be able to initiate the chain-reaction that will ignite the bright blazing light of a new day that will radiate outwards, overwhelming the gravity of the black hole of despair and reconnecting Fairvale with the rest of the world from which it has been so spectacularly cut off, allowing it to once again be a part of humanity’s endless journey into the future.
