You’ve just got to take that blue funk of yours and, baby, you’ve got to translate it. You’ve got to translate it into faith. No, it’s easy, you’ve just got to learn to believe, that’s all. I hear you, I hear you, but you’re wrong, just plain wrong. You may feel powerless, but I’m here to tell you that you’re not, not by a longshot. Sure, you may be at the bottom of the food chain, but it’s the small fry that move things along. Think about it. The people at the top of the food chain got to eat too. Not only that, they got bigger appetites, much bigger. Look, honey, there are a lot of things worse than being eaten, let me tell you. Hell is here on earth not in the hereafter. Look, we all got to go sometime. All I’m saying here is that where we-- the small fry, the people at the bottom of the food chain-- where we go, the big boys--the sharks at the top of the food chain-- have got to follow, they have no choice. They live to serve their big old appetites. They can’t go nowhere there ain’t no food, and I’m telling you the food chain always follows the smallest and weakest, ‘cause that’s where it starts. We’re at the head and they’re at the tail and that’s all there is to it. Really, for people like you and me, that’s what believing is all about. Realizing that having nothing puts you in charge. Knowing that everything you do is important. Every step you take, every decision you make, really matters, because you’re in the lead, child. The bottom is really the top. Do you see what I’m saying? You just got to see, and then you’re home free.
