2007 Scowfish Regatta Results

The Scowfish Regatta began Saturday after an hour long postponement to let a storm go through the area. The eleven MC Scows and eleven Sunfish then sailed four races under cloudy skies and 10-15 MPH winds. The competition was intense and by the end of the day the top three MCScows were tied and fourth place, Jeff Minore, was only one point behind. Among the Sunfish, Dan Norton was clearly in the lead with four first places and Stu Pettitt and Ron McHenry were tied for second. At the social, after the races, everyone was looking forward to the races on Sunday.
The sailors awoke sunday to a beautiful sunny day with winds coming from the NNW at 5-10 MPH. After three more races only 3 points separated the top five MCScows and the second and third place MCScows were still tied. The top MCScow sailor was Jeff Minore from Grand Rapids YC, MI, with 21 points . In Second place was Curt Miller, also from Grand Rapids YC, MI, with 22 points and two firsts and two second places. In third place was Chris Craig, from LFSC, MI, with 22 points and two firsts and one scond place. The top Sunfish sailor was Dan Norton from Devils Lake YC, MI with 6.50 points and six firsts and one second place. In second place was Stu Pettitt form Greater Detroit Sunfish Club, MI, with 16.75 points. Close behind came Ron McHenry form Pymatuning SC, OH, with 17.00 points.
Everyone had a great time and thought that the race management team did a fantastic job as always. At the cookout, after the racing, the sailors said that they were looking forward to returning next August for another Scowfish Regatta.
