A Message From The Marin Cyclists Board Of Directors:

The 2022 Marin Century is scheduled for Saturday August 6, 2022 with the start finish being held at Stafford Lake, Novato California

We had a great turnout in 2021 and thanks to our volunteers our event was enjoyable for all our riders. The beautiful location of Stafford Lake Park provided plenty of room for people to social distance while still getting great food and entertainment to you at the end of the ride. We are once again optimistic about 2022 and want to replicate the experience we had in 2021.  Marin County has so much beauty to experience and we invite you to join us on our 59th year of hosting this amazing ride!

Stay healthy and see you on the road soon!

The Mini

The Mini is approximately 25 miles of beautiful Marin County backroads and farm land. Total climbing is about 1,500 feet. The start will test your cycling legs., but on the way back you will be rewarded with a nice descent for the last few miles. This route is perfect for beginners, but not first timers. You need some fitness to get you through this ride because it's not all flat.Mini

Compact Classic

The Compact Classis is a 61-mile course that goes though Western Marin in a counter-clockwise direction this year, with an early test of your legs on Wilson Hill at mile seven. You will then pass through the relatively flat section of Chileno Valley Road on your way to Tomales. After a 10-mile loop northwest of Tomales, you'll head south on the Shoreline Highway before turning onto the backside of the Marshall Wall climb. Coming from the west, this climb is longer than from the other direction, but you also get a couple of short sections of relief from the climbing. You'll crest the Marshall Wall at mile 46, then have mostly flat terrain (with a few gentle climbs) on your way back to the finish. Your total climbing for this route will be about 4,500 feet. Compact Classic

This route will not disappoint you. At 86.1 miles and 8624 feet of climbing you will be tested. Mt. Tam

The Classic

Want a few more  miles? Try the Classic at just over 100 miles. The Classic also goes though West Marin in a counter-clockwise direction this year, with an early test of your legs on Wilson Hill at mile seven. You will then pass through the relatively flat section of Chileno Valley Road on your way to Tomales. After a 20-mile loop northwest of Tomales, you'll head south on the Shoreline Highway before turning onto the backside of the Marshall Wall climb. Coming from the west, this climb is longer than from the other direction, but you also get a couple of short sections of relief from the climbing. You'll crest the Marshall Wall at mile 56, then have a mostly flat section passing dairy farms as you head east. You'll then turn south, passing through Nicasio. After you crest the hill after Nicasio at mile 78, you'll be mostly going downhill for the next 10 miles as you pass through the redwoods in Samuel P. Taylor state park. You'll have your last tough climb at mile 92, so save some energy for the last few miles. Your total climbing for this route will be about 7,300 feet. Classic (100 Miles)

Super Tam

Yeah, you are ready! You get it all in one day on this route. 119.6 miles and 10352 feet of elevation.  You will see farm land, redwoods, Mt. Tam, beaches, coastal towns, isolated climbs that will test you,  and all the major climbs we have to offer. If you start early you will first see darkness, then sun light, at times some fog. The coastal winds will push you back, but sometimes they will be at your back. Two major loops to test your training. Are you ready?

Marin Cyclists has given over $450,000 in donations to local non-profits and schools:

The Marin Century Bike Ride dates back to 1963 when a group of hardy Marin County bicyclists attempted the novel idea of organizing a 100-mile bike ride through the hills of Marin County.

In 2005, due to its growing popularity, the ride collected more in registration fees than was needed to pay the bills. That is when the volunteers decided to use surplus funds to support our community.

Since that time the Marin Cyclists have given over $450,000 to local youth, cycling and other non-profit organizations that serve our community.

The Marin Century is organized, managed and run entirely by volunteers. In its 58-year history, over 40,000 bike riders have enjoyed the scenery, camaraderie, food and challenge of the group rides.

Thank you volunteers, participants and sponsors who have made this event possible! Together we can make a difference.

You can try out one of our club rides at anytime. We have all level rides that can range from 20 miles to 100 miles.
