Mid-Year Recap and Future Plans

Kaan Aksu,  Member Relations Chair

I hope that this newsletter finds you in good spirits and health during beautiful Michigan summer days.

It surely has been an extraordinary year in the world so far due to the pandemic situation. While our profession has also got its share from slowing down business opportunities, I am sure that coaching will be on demand as a resource even more than before, so that we can help others to remain purposeful during this period of unprecedented uncertainty.

I am happy to share that ICF Michigan activities have continued nonstop to serve our members' needs. Thanks to being already familiar with virtual environment, we swiftly turned all our activities into an online format.

Our monthly webinars, educational events (where you can get necessary CCEUs for Credential Renew-als) and professional development webinar series continue as usual. Our Coach Cafes are now one monthly online meeting (2nd Friday of every month) and they are open to all members, regardless of location.  Our next Coach Cafe is tomorrow morning, Friday, August 14th.

Please check our calendar regularly for updates and benefit from upcoming events, including our next 'Virtual Coaching Fishbowl,' which is on August 18th.  We also have a New Coaches Forum on August 27th, which is a brand-new event specifically addressing challenges for newer coaches. This month's topic will be about Business Development/Sales and Marketing.

There is more. During 2020, the Board has decided to introduce 'Corporate Memberships' as a new enhanced approach. Our intention is to increase awareness for coaching at Corporate Level and create networking opportunities to support our members' businesses. You will hear more at our online Fall Coaches Connection Event.

During the pandemic period, we have had 20 new members joining our community. As of August, we have 151 active members in our chapter.  This is a 40% increase compared to the same time last year. We are very encouraged to grow our chapter together!

Thank you all so much for choosing to become valued members of our community. Please be aware that your feedback and suggestions are always appreciated to improve our service.

Wishing the best well-being for yourself and your loved ones.
