MARYANNA (MARYANN) L. SNEZEK, 72, of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away Friday, March 20, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Maryann was born in Pittsburgh, PA on August 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Alberto and Helen (Yaczola) Dally of St. Clairsville, Ohio.
In addition to her father she was preceded in death by her grandson, Bobby Brayer.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Chet Snezek; her daughters, Louann Tedrick, Dyann Loudermilk, and Bethann Brayer; her sons-in-law, Scott Tedrick, Mike Loudermilk and Bob Brayer; her grandchildren, Bryan Brayer, Tyler Tedrick, Liam Loudermilk, Joey Tedrick and Lena Loudermilk.
She attended Duquesne University where she met Chet and earned her Bachelors degree in Business Administration. Her true love was teaching and she began her career at St. Mary's Central Grade School (Martins Ferry) teaching music, history, and English. She directed many memorable Christmas Shows and 8th Grade Musicals there as well. She also taught English at St. John's Central High School and one of her greatest pleasures was to meet former students and catch up on their achievements. After her retirement she worked part-time as a switchboard operator for Ohio Valley Medical Center.
Maryann was very involved in the Catholic Church and loved to "pray twice" through her singing. She previously directed the St. Frances Cabrini choir and was a soloist for many years. Until recently she was a volunteer at the Catholic Neighborhood Center. She always had time to listen to her daughters and loved to hear their stories about her grandchildren. She never gave up an opportunity to "teach" and share her wisdom with all of them.
She will always be remembered and will have a special place in the hearts of her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family and friends.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated Monday, March 23, 2009 at St. Frances Cabrini Church at 10 a.m. with Father Dale Tornes as the celebrant.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Scripture services was held in the funeral home Sunday at 3 p.m.

AVA M. LINDSEY, 4 months, of Belmont Street, Bellaire, Ohio died Saturday, March 21, 2009 at her residence.
Ava was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on November 12, 2008, the infant daughter of Tiffani M. Lindsey.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a sister, Kendra L. Lindsey, Bellaire; maternal grandparents, Frank "Kip'' and Crystal (Johnson) Lindsey; maternal great grandparents, Frank and Carolyn (Davis) Lindsey; step grandmother, Jennifer Blazevich; step aunt, Samantha Blazevich; aunts, Tamika C. and Serena Lindsey; uncle, Zack L. and Kyle Lindsey, all of Bridgeport; numerous other aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at Noon with Frank Lindsey officiating.
JERRY A. ROBERTS, 70, of St. Clairsville and formerly of Colerain Pike, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at Country Club Retirement Center, Bellaire, Ohio. He was born on Dutch Hill, Martins Ferry on March 13, 1939, a son of the late Gernard M. and Freda B. (Bauknecht) Roberts.
He was a retired employee of the Marx Toy Factory. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, Bridgeport and also enjoyed the St. Clairsville Senior Center.
He is survived by two brothers, William A. (Edna) Roberts, St. Clairsville and Thomas A. (Dolores) Roberts, Colerain, Ohio. Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Karen Torrez officiating. Interment followed in Olive Branch Cemetery, Harrisville, Ohio.
JOHN McKINNEY ROBERTS, 38, formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Tuesday, March 31, 2009. He was born in Wheeling, W. Va. on August 24, 1970, the son of Rebecca D. (Roberts) McKinney of Martins Ferry.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Michelle Dustman; maternal grandfather, John C. Roberts and paternal grandmother, Kathryn McKinney.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Clint (Shawn) McKinney, Independence, Kansas; maternal grandmother, Wanda Roberts, St. Clairsville; special friend, Jeremy Hill, Wheeling; John Tucker, Martins Ferry and Sherri of Yorkville; special nephew, Derek Dustman, Wheeling, W. Va.;
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Thursday, April 2, 2009, at 8 p.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.

MICHAEL WILLIAM GRAMMER, 56, of Cortland, Ohio passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009 with his wife at his side. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on December 28, 1952, the son of the late William F. and Lora E. (Donley) Grammer.
Mike was employed for the past 25 years with the Ohio State Parks as a manager, spending 18 years at Pymatuning State Park and the last seven years at Mosquito Lake State Park. He was a recipient of the ODNR's highest award, the Meritorious Life Saving Award; a graduate of the Ohio Certified Public Manager's program and had received several Innovation Ohio honors.
Mike was a loving husband and father, and is survived by his wife of 32 years, Karen (Gossett) Grammer; twin daughters, Katherine and Victoria; and two sisters, Sharon Stone (Glen) of Villa Rica, GA. and Jenny Ordway (Eric) of Dallas, GA.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Thomas A. Magary officiating.
Interment followed in Gates of Heaven Cemetery, Lafferty, Ohio.
Wake service was held at the funeral home Tuesday at 7:30 p.m.
JOHN M. MILLER, 88, of Reservoir Road, St. Clairsville, Ohio and formerly of Rose Lane, Martins Ferry, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 while in the company of his family. John was born in Bridgeport, Ohio on December 31, 1920, a son of the late David and Mary Rose (Groetzinger) Miller.
He was a retired Co-Owner of the former Roberts Pontiac of Martins Ferry; member of the First Christian Church; the American Legion Post #38, the former Martins Ferry Rotary Club and was a Paul Harris Fellow. John served in the U.S. Army Air Force during W.W. II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Orville and Robert Miller; sister Dorothy Gatts; two infant granddaughters.
John is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eileen "Sis" (Roberts) Miller; two sons, H. Jay "Butch" Miller and his wife, Lis; Jan Miller and his wife, Carmen, all of Martins Ferry, Ohio; four granddaughters, Missi Hamilton and her husband, Keith , Delaware, Ohio ; Shayne Bauer and her husband, John, Marysville, Ohio; Brady Clevenger, Phoenix, Ariz.; Casey Golovko and her husband, Ken, Tustin, Calif.; two great grandsons, Jacob Dickman and Miller Golovko; a great granddaughter, Julia Dickman; two brothers, Roy Miller and his wife, Germaine, Worthington, Ohio and David Miller and his wife, Miko, Surprise, Ariz.; sister-in-law, Ann Miller, Brilliant, Ohio .

JOHN ZINGO, JR, 89, of Vernon Road, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 while in the company of family members at his residence. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on May 16, 1919, a son of the late John and Ilona (Torok) Zingo.
He was a retired Engineer (Lockman) at U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Lock 12, Warwood, W. Va. and a employee of the former Imperial Glass, Bellaire, Ohio. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry; Knights of Columbus, and a 4th Degree Past Grand Knight. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and retired after 41 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion Post 38 of Martins Ferry and the Colerain VFW Post 8848.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Josh Zingo; two brothers, George and Arthur.
John is survived by his wife, Jane (Marchlenski) Zingo; four sons, John "Mick"
M. (Catherine) Zingo, Colerain, Ohio, Timothy R. (Bernice) Zingo, Bellaire, Ohio, David (Mary) Zingo, Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeffrey J. (Sandra) Zingo, Oologah, Ok.; daughter, Paula C. (James) Carenbauer, Wheeling, WV. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.

BETTY (GLADYS) E. BELANICK, 85, formerly of Sheets Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 10, 2009 while in the company of family members at her daughters residence.
Betty was born in Paden City, W. Va. on February 9, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Riggs) McCoy.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, George Belanick; daughter, Connie Renee Belanick in 1962; three brothers, Joseph, Raymond and David McCoy.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne and her husband, Thomas Crow of Pickerington, Ohio and Betty Lou "BL" and her husband, Robert Edmundson, of Wheeling, WV, with whom she lived for the past 18 months; three grandaughters, Jamie(Jack) Kelderhouse of Durham, NC, Megan (Bobby) Pacheco of Pittsburgh, PA and Katie Edmundson of Wheeling, WV; five great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Evangelist, Ronald Stullenbarger officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry, Ohio.

GENEVA MADLINE "MATT" DOUGHTY, 81, of So. 3rd Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio , died Monday, May 11, 2009. She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on July 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Hugh M. and Ann V. (Hails) Phillips.
She was co-owner of Martins Ferry Marine.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Roland J. Doughty; five brothers, Ronnie, Johnny, Jack, Dan, and Allen Phillips; two sisters, Wilma Doughty and Betty Rutan.
She is survived by son, Roland "Jim" (Mary) Doughty, Rayland, Ohio; two grandson, James T. (Dawn) Doughty, Columbus, Ohio and Patrick M. Doughty, Tiltonsville, Ohio; two granddaughters, Melissa A. Doughty, Martins Ferry and Amy C. (Bill) Beall, Tiltonsville, Ohio; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral service were held at the funeral home Friday, May 15, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Rev. William O. Webster, Jr. officiating.
Interment followed in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
EARL J. OREND, 70, of Bridgeport, Ohio , went to God Friday, May 22, 2009.
Earl was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of the Valley of Seubenville, Bridgeport Lodge No. 0181 F. & A.M. and the Lansing Sportsman Club. He served in the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, George.
He leaves behind his wife, Carol; two sons, Michael Orend, Harwood Heights, Ill; Earl (Sandy) Orend, Columbus, Ohio; three step sons, Matt McCutcheon, Columbus, Ohio; Joe (Shari) McCutcheon , Bridgeport, Ohio; Jeff (Pam) McCutcheon, St. Clairsville, Ohio; two brothers, John (Martha) Orend, Bridgeport, Ohio; Fred (Sally) Orend, Bridgeport, Ohio; sister, Jo Ann Chlon, Wheeling, WV; numerous nieces and nephews.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were private at the convenience of family.
RAYMOND B. "SKEETER" RUTAN, JR., 62, of Franklin Street, Bellaire, Ohio , died Friday, June 5, 2009 at his residence. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on February 19, 1947, a son of the late Raymond B. and Betty L. (Phillips) Rutan.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Don.
He is survived by daughter, Tina M. Rutan, and son, Raymond B. Rutan, III, both of Martins Ferry, Ohio; companion, Tammy Blake, Bellaire, Ohio; brother, Terry L. Rutan, W. Virginia; sister, Betty Waide, Martins Ferry;grandson, Raymond B. Rutan, IV; granddaughter, Amber Rutan; and great grandson, David Rutan.

ROBERT LEE WILLIAMS, 54, of Atlanta, Ga. died Thursday, June 4, 2009 in Atlanta. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on May 10, 1955, he was the son of the late Eleanor E. (Levicy) and Rev. Esau D. Williams who survives him of Youngstown.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Esau Jr, Kingsley and David Williams; two sisters, Katherine Weaver and Helen Clemans.
In addition to his father, he is survived by daughter, Quen (Andrew) Williams; two granddaughters, Madysen and CateLyn Williams; two brothers, Thomas and Israel Williams. six sisters, Elizabeth, Frances, and Lillian Williams, Mary Alice (Keith) Walker, Lynn Weaver, and Rachel Spinner; uncle, Rev. Jacob Williams; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Patricia Hughes.

JAMES C. HOLLER, 81, of Virginia Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Thursday, June 25, 2009 at his residence.
He was born in Bridgeport, Ohio on March 11, 1928, the son of the late George and Florence (Mauk) Holler.
He was a retired former Police Officer for the City of Bridgeport, Ohio; Deputy for the Belmont Co. Sheriffs Office; Owner of the former Shell Gas Station and the Martins Ferry Coffee Shop. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, also of Martins Ferry
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heidi Bazar; several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy A. (Sago) Holler; three daughters Maryellen (Glen) Devaul, Colerain, Ohio; Stacey Holler, Cindy (Thomas) Regis, both of Martins Ferry; son, Brian (Mary) Grover, Raleigh, N. C.; two sisters, Teresa Schnied, Bridgeport, Ohio; Mary Lou Jones, New Martinsville, W.V. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

DORIS A. LOUGHLEY, 85, of W. 65th St., Colman Court, Cleveland, Ohio and formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio died Saturday, June 27, 2009. She was born in Chester, W.Va. on January 29, 1924, the beloved daughter of the late James and Alice A. (Ryan) Loughley.
Beloved friend of many especially Wende Coppola. She was a charismatic woman that was quick witted and always one step ahead of the game. She had a wonderful sense of humor with an Irish streak at times. She looked out for others and gave a nudge here and there. She touched lives with a heart that was joyful and wise; and angel in disguise.
She was a retired accountant for the Ormet Corp. of Hannibal, Ohio.
Interment was held in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
BRADLEY J. McFARLAND, 66, of Brownfield Road, Colerain, Ohio , died Wednesday, July 8, 2009. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on February 13, 1943, son of the late Wilbur L. and Alice R. (Donley) McFarland.
Brad was a retired machinist for the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Steubenville Plant and also worked many years for the machine shop at Consolidated Coal, Georgetown Plant. He wa a member of the Elm Grove Christian Church, Elm Grove, W. Va.
He is survived by his wife, Gloria J. (Ware) McFarland; son, Shawn B. (Nancy) McFarland, Colerain; daughter, Kimberley R. (Bruce) Clark, Martins Ferry; four grandchildren, Shane, Kylie, Lakyn and Krislyn; sister, Linda L. McFarland, Florida.
Funeral services were held at the funeral home Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11 a.m. with Minister, Henry Lewis officiating.
Interment followed in Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
JOHN C. KELLER, 76, of Piedmont, Ohio and formerly of Martins Ferry, Ohio , died Wednesday, July 29, 2009 at Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. He was born at home in Martins Ferry, Ohio on October 10, 1932, the son of the late John O. and Edith S. (Smith) Keller.
John was retired from Black and White Contractors Supply of Wheeling, WV, where he worked for over 30 years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Martins Ferry.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Burch.
He loved being on his farm in Piedmont and will be tremendously missed by his wife of 51 years, Mary E. (Renshaw) Keller; son, John J. (Kimberly) Keller, Piedmont; daughter, Ellen M. (Todd) Blake, Martins Ferry; daughter, Christine L. Smith, Navarre, Ohio; daughter, Becky A. Jenkins, Dublin, Ohio; daughter, Katherine R. (Vince) West, Martins Ferry; daughter, Sandy L. Keller, Martins Ferry; son, Joseph A. (Jessica) Keller, Martins Ferry; sister, Patricia (Joseph) Shemenski, Warrington, Pa. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren.

HERMAN JOHNSON, 83, of Indiana St., Martins Ferry, Ohio, died Sunday, August 23, 2009 at East Ohio Regional Hospital. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on January 3, 1926, the son of the late Daniel and Bertha Mae (Jarells) Johnson.
He was retired from the former Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Mingo Jct., Ohio where he was employed as a stationary engineer for 51 years.
He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the south pacific aboard the Destroyer USS Capps DD550.
He was a beloved husband to his wife of 61 years, and a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.
He loved hunting, fishing, boating, gardening and spending time with his wife and family. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Herman is survived by his wife, Adele B. (Burdess) Johnson; three children: Gerald T. Johnson, Martins Ferry; Karen J. McCoy, Columbus, OH and Keith R. (Debra) Johnson, Harpers Ferry, WV; two (2) siblings: Ray (Doris) Johnson, Barnsville, OH; and Ruby (Lowell) Krenke, Pittsburgh, PA; six (6) grandchildren: Sgt. Jon M. (Vicki) McCoy, Hinesville, GA; Brianna (Jack) Whicherly, Groton, CT; Cassandra L. Johnson, Moundsville, WV; Brandon K. Johnson, Nathan R. Johnson, and Andrew A. Johnson Harpers Ferry, WV; two (2) great grandchildren: Connor J. Whicherly, Groton, CT and Kayla M. McCoy, Hinesville, GA.

THOMAS E. BLUST, SR., 65, loving husband and father of Bridgeport, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, August 25, 2009 while in the company of family members and friends at his residence.
He was born in Wheeling, WV on December 24, 1943, son of the late Edward T. and Virginia E. (Martin) Blust.
He was a graduate of Ohio University; retired employee of International Truck and Engine Co., Indianapolis, Indiana and a former customer service representative of American Electric Power. He was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, Martins Ferry, Ohio; Ohio City #486 F. & A.M. and the Osiris Temple. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James and his beloved dog, Angie.
Tom is survived by his wife, Abigail L. (Tulbure) Blust; son, Thomas E. (Amanda) Blust, Jr., Martins Ferry, OH; two sisters, Marjorie (Willis) Scarfpin, Martins Ferry, OH; Cheryl L. (Michael) Flynn, Manassas, VA; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 7 N. 4th Street, Martins Ferry with Rev. William O. Webster officiating.
Interment followed in Linwood Cemetery, Blaine, Ohio.
Bereavement Service by the Elders of the church was held at the funeral home, Thursday at 6:30 p.m. followed by Masonic Services at 7 p.m.

MARY ELIZABETH "LIZ" VOYTECEK, 87, of So. 8th Street, Martins Ferry, Ohio , passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2009.
She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on September 12, 1922, the daughter of the late A. J. and Salome H. (Morgan) Tolbert.
Liz was a retired employee of the Fashion Manor of Martins Ferry and former L. S. Goods of Wheeling. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Catholic Women's Club of Martins Ferry,
She is survived by her husband, Joseph R. Voytecek; son, Joseph R. (Jennifer) Voytecek, Martins Ferry; daughter, Elizabeth Tegwen Parsons, Martins Ferry; two brothers, William L. Tolbert, Martins Ferry; Anthony J. (Irene) Tolbert, III, Mt. Prospect, Ill.; four grandsons, Chad R. (Amber) Voytecek, Martins Ferry; Shane D. (Brandi) Parsons, Adena, OH; Jeremy P. (Melissa) Voytecek, Martins Ferry; Anthony J. Voytecek, Martins Ferry; granddaughter Megan J. Funeral Liturgy with Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Martins Ferry, at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2009 with Rev. Thomas A. Magary as the celebrant
Interment followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
Rosary devotions were recited at the funeral home Friday at 3 followed by Wake service at 7:30 p.m.
