The medial collateral (MCL) and lateral collateral ligaments (LCL) are found on either side of your knee joint. There are some precautions you can take to try to reduce the risk of damaging your knee ligaments. The time it takes for your sprain to heal depends on which part of your knee you have injured and how badly it’s affected.
