I remember scarfing down muffins, chugging milkshakes, and then stepping on the bathroom scale, hoping to see my weight pass the 100 lb mark. I had to lift until I couldn’t move, the soreness keeping my joints and muscles from cramping. As a tiny woman, I get some strange looks at the gym when I set up to deadlift… Needless to say, a lot of your post and podcast really resonated. It’s also important though to find the balance between doing what is necessary to achieve your goal and still being able to enjoy life. The body that I’ve been able to build for myself is from years of hard work, discipline, and refined practice, with no reward ever being promised to me—I simply had to believe that one day, it would come. It really opened my eyes to the skill set that many gamers must build, and how those skills, determination etc, can cross over into other areas of life.
