Treating dogs with severe separation anxiety

Personal protection puppy training
Rescued dogs gather for feeding time at Ha Wenjin’s animal rescue farm outside of Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. Volunteers carry food, blankets, and other necessities for the dogs and cats at Ha Wenjin’s no-kill dog and cat rescue farm outside Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. Sick dogs occupy a small farmhouse at Ha Wenjin’s no-kill dog and cat rescue farm outside Nanjing, Jiangsu, China. An hour or so out of Nanjing, well away from the factories and cars of the bustling city, a small farm houses hundreds of dogs and cats. My favourite movies and TV shows are Juno, Aquamarine, The Office, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower, Investigation Discovery, Bojack Horseman, Detention, Crank Yankers, How To Catch a Predator, Mary and Max, Bates Motel, Bob’s Burgers, Salem, Dateline, The Killing, & Darknet. When “no-kill” animal shelters and rescue groups are filled to capacity, which is almost always, they are left with two options: turn away more animals than they take in or warehouse animals, often in substandard, filthy, and severely crowded conditions, for weeks, months, or even years on end. Instead they are cruelly killed by people who don’t want them, are dumped on roadsides and left to die from starvation or being hit by a car, or spend their short lives homeless, unwanted, and producing more litters of animals for whom no homes exist. The lucky ones are taken to well-run open-admission animal shelters, where they either find a well-screened, permanent home or are painlessly euthanized in the arms of professionally trained, compassionate people. Because of breed-specific dog legislation and negative publicity associated with many breeds of dogs, temperament testing has assumed an important role for today’s dog fancier.
That puppy you just sold will most likely end up in my shelter when it’s not a cute little puppy anymore. If your dog doesn’t get adopted within its 72 hours and the shelter is full, it will be destroyed.
When it all ends, your pets corpse will be stacked like firewood in a large freezer in the back with all of the other animals that were killed waiting to be picked up like garbage. My hometown is trying to convince the shelter to become no-kill, but I can see how that would end up hurting all the animals. Here are some of the “no-kill” animal shelter failures that made headlines in recent years for making animals suffer a fate far worse than a kind death. The policies had reportedly led animals to stay at the shelter for a longer time and more animals to be given up by their owners. Inside the stifling trailer, authorities found crates stacked on top of each other containing panting, distressed dogs.

One dog was taken to a local animal shelter, but it wasn’t reported if other animals were found at the property. The dogs were taken to two area animal shelters, and one was reportedly put up for adoption. A police investigation reportedly revealed that the man had tried to surrender the dog to a local animal shelter but was turned away.
City officials were reportedly evaluating the health of the dogs, some of whom were found in two warehouses. Some animals recently obtained from the county’s animal control shelter were found suffering from upper respiratory problems. The home’s subfloor was soaked with urine and covered with feces, and two of the dogs needed emergency treatment—one for a broken jaw and one for a severe skin condition. The “rescue” reportedly acknowledged that it lacked needed resources to care for the dogs, who were kept in kennels and outdoor pens and who ranged in age from 2-days to 10-years-old.
In one reported incident, one hour after being adopted a dog obtained through PURRR killed the adopting family’s cat. The “rescue” and its registered owner allegedly raised money by promoting itself as a dog shelter that housed neglected, abandoned and abused dogs. The article stated, “The shelter wants the public to know, this means that the Pet Center cannot take in feral cats, or some adult cats.
The test is designed for the betterment of all breeds of dogs and takes into consideration each breed’s inherent tendencies. I have no way of verifying that it is true but having volunteered in two shelters in two different states: I feel comfortable posting it as realistic fiction. As a shelter manager, I am going to share a little insight with you all…a view from the inside if you will. If the shelter isn’t full and your dog is good enough, and of a desirable enough breed it may get a stay of execution, but not for long . I hate my job, I hate that it exists & I hate that it will always be there unless you people make some changes and realize that the lives you are affecting go much farther than the pets you dump at a shelter. Nearly all the dogs were reportedly imported by One Mission Dog Rescue from West Virginia, Kentucky, or a neighboring county.

The surviving dog was being treated at the Animal Rescue League Shelter & Wildlife Center.
Most of the dogs were also matted and filthy, and several had sores and eye and ear conditions. The two dead dogs were also emaciated and appeared to have died from exposure or starvation.
A few days later, the same dog reportedly “broke out of her cage, busted through two doors” and killed the family’s 10-week-old kitten.
Honestly if the guy or gal just breeds their dogs, throws an ad up on CL, and then wants you to give them money, take the puppy and be on your way… how much time and effort do you really think they put into breeding quality dogs. Most dogs get very kennel protective after about a week and are destroyed for showing aggression.
I just hope I maybe changed one persons mind about breeding their dog, taking their loving pet to a shelter, or buying a dog.
The no-kill shelter, a rarity in the country, provides the animals with shelter, food, love and care in a city known as a source for dog and cat meat for southern China's exotic food needs. The owner told police that he had taken the dog to a local animal shelter but couldn’t afford the $20 fee charged to accept the animal. Most of the puppies offered on Craigs List aren’t worth the money, you are better off just finding a dog on the street or from a shelter or rescue.
If your pet makes it over all of those hurdles chances are it will get kennel cough or an upper respiratory infection and will be destroyed because shelters just don’t have the funds to pay for even a $100 treatment. You can also visit the shelters early in the mornings, talk to adoption councilors and get on their list as well. However, I’ve traveled all over the world to some pretty amazing places and have yet to see a kibble tree or bush where wild dogs go to feast.
