Herpes zoster, also known as shingles, is caused by the return of a chickenpox infection from latently infected nerve cells in the spinal cord or brain. Hives, also known as urticaria, is a very common allergic skin condition due to antibodies in the bloodstream that recognize foreign chemicals. This form of folliculitis occurs in areas of the skin in which hairs have been recently cut or extracted. Skin tags are small, fleshy, fibrovascular, pedunculated (on a stalk) growths that are often are found on the neck and armpits.
Athlete's foot (tinea pedis) is an infection of the dead superficial layer of the skin called the stratum corneum by a fungal mold called a dermatophyte. Although the term mole may cover a variety of different sorts of skin growths, most often it refers to a localized accumulation of pigment-producing cells called melanocytes. These flat brown spots are caused by sun exposure and typically appear on the face and forearms.
This rash usually begins in a young adult as a single scaling bump or patch and then extends to cover much of the torso with hundreds of scaling spots that are elliptical in shape. The development of small keratotic tumors of the skin is caused by one of about 200 members of the human papillomavirus group. Tinea versicolor: This condition may look like vitiligo, but it's caused by a fungal infection. Rosacea: This common skin disorder is most common in fair-skinned people, but anyone can develop it. Burns: First and some milder second degree burns may cause skin discoloration as they heal - second and third degree burns typically require more intensive therapy like skin grafting. Sun Damage: Excessive exposure to the sun (or tanning booth) without sunscreen or sunblock can lead to discolored skin as well. Injuries to the skin like burns should be evaluated by a health care professional when they occur; other conditions like venous stasis should also be followed by a physician because there is a risk for the development of skin infections.

The good news is that most types of skin discoloration are harmless, temporary, and respond well to treatment. Images supplied by Embarrassing Bodies viewers, collected in conjunction with The University of Birmingham as part of an ongoing project to document skin conditions on a range of different skin types. It is very painful and I seem to get them all year round, im not quite sure how to get rid of them, I have even had people not want to hold my hand because of them before. Moles, rashes, hives, and eczema are just a few of the more than 3,000 skin disorders that affect people every day. This flat brownish pigmentation occurs on the forehead, cheeks, and in the mustache area of the upper lip. They often spontaneously go away, but particularly stubborn warts may require medical intervention. You'll see darker, tanned skin in sun-exposed areas, of course, and the palms and soles are usually lighter than the rest of the skin.
Diagnosis depends on where it appears, what the skin surface looks like, whether it's itchy or painful, and what other conditions the person has. The fungus prevents skin from tanning normally, so that lighter patches appear; as the yeast grows, the patches may join and become larger in tinea versicolor. Staying away from the irritant and allowing skin to heal usually makes the redness go away. Rosacea begins as increased facial flushing-like a deep blush-and proceeds to permanent reddening, sometimes with prominent blood vessels and thickened, bumpy skin. Using antibiotic ointments and keeping the area clean can help the burn heal and avoid infection, which can make discoloration or scarring worse.
Sun damage can lead to skin freckles, mottled skin, and telangiectasias or dilated blood vessels. Other new changes in the pigment of the skin -- like vitiligo -- often should be evaluated because there may be a treatment that could cure the condition or prevent it from getting worse.

However, any change in the skin is reason to check with a doctor, especially if it doesn't go away or causes discomfort. It has a number of possible causes including allergic reaction, exposure to heat or cold or infection. It is soon followed within one or two days by a red, blistering unilateral (one-sided) rash distributed to the skin supplied by a sensory nerve (a dermatome). The eruption will resolve within three weeks but will occur again the next time the skin comes in contact with the plant. The adult disease tends to favor the scalp, skin behind the ears, forehead, brows, nasolabial folds of the face, mid-chest area, and the mid-back, producing an itchy, red scaling dermatitis. Its effect on the skin is called "stasis dermatitis." Symptoms and signs include leg swelling, the development of sores and deep ulcers, and a gradual thickening and darkening of the skin.
Young women with dark skin and people who live in sunny climates are also at higher risk, but anyone can develop melasma. There are several options to manage acne scarring like acne scar surgery, laser skin resurfacing, fillers, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or dermabrasion, injections, or cryotherapy.
Lots of unprotected skin exposure can lead to squamous cell or basal cell cancer in your later years.
In most but not all of those affected, allergy to a specific substance does not seem to play a role in flares of the skin rash. Other treatments like laser resurfacing, microdermabrasion, or chemical peels may also be an option to help the skin return to its normal color. Treatment involves the application of emollients to wet skin and occasionally the use of topical steroids.
