Built In Shelves Around Fireplace Cost,Pallet Wood Furniture Plans,Lovell Woodturning Smock,Custom Woodwork Austin - You Shoud Know

The weather is starting to warm up here, but it’s still chilly enough that there are days when I wish we had a fireplace to curl up next to (instead of the faux fire we have). Centsational Girl has one of the best tutorials for turning purchased shelves into a wall of built ins. We went with a natural gas fireplace and after browsing around on Pinterest (inspiration here, here, and here) I did up a basic sketch for our contractor. Oh and it took our contractor about 3 days to get it all built, and our tiler about 1 full day to tile the hearth and fireplace surround. Combine that with our love for built-ins, and you’ll see why we are so excited to feature this lovely fireplace makeover (that we found at one of our weekend link parties, you should come join!). We are moving to a new house and the fireplace will need some sort of update at some point so this is some great inspiration. We probably would’ve tried to use IKEA components to build it, so going with the MDF definitely kept our material costs down and helped to balance against the labour cost.
If you notice the hole above the fireplace it is a PVC tube with two elbows that run into the cabinet.

We had to be careful around the fireplace to not break the glass because we weren’t planning on replacing the actual fireplace itself. Drawer uses a different species of wood for built in shelves around fireplace cost the sides biscuit into one slot out of wood around. The next thing to come off was the large hearth, this is the portion of rock that projects out front of the fireplace.
We created DIY Built-Ins in our family room to replace a long wall of ugly wood paneling.
I am Morgan here with my husband Jamie and we are BEYOND thrilled to be here at Remodelaholic sharing our built-in entertainment center with all of you!!
You can also see here that we put the TV up to make sure it was all fitting appropriately, and crown moulding went up around the top of the built-in.
I wanted to be able to wipe the whole built-in down easily, so the semi-gloss is great for that.
Once we got all of the rock down and cleaned up Jamie started on the built in entertainment center. I decided on a natural slate with multiple depths and colors to break up the all white built-in and give it some character.

He started by building the cabinet boxes on each side of the fireplace and then built the face frames to size to fill in the left over area. Buying them was a little more expensive as oppose to building them, however, the time saved was worth the cost. We created the mantel above the fireplace by stacking two pieces of crown molding on top of one another other.
We took out our fireplace (we never use in Texas) and put in built in shelf unit that houses all our dvds, cds, stereo, Apple TV, etc. You would never believe that this gorgeous library, built by the awesome Sawdust Girl, was once an empty room with zero personality. We knew we wanted a fireplace, and I had always dreamed of having some kind of mantle and built-in’s to help anchor the room and give it some traditional character. I had sketched out this very square design with in-lays, and our contractor built it out of MDF (medium density fiberboard – a cheaper alternative to wood).
