Wood bike rims, woodpecker router lift parts, all wood cabinet construction - For Outdoors
A stunningly unique bike frame entirely of wood, reminiscent of Softride and early Zipp frames.
A beautiful example of all those is a wood bike built by Chris Connor of Connor Wood Bicycles for a fundraiser organized by Robert Brudnell of Natural Way to celebrate the life of a friend. The bike is designed to race the very demanding Leadville 100, a high speed, challenging variety of terrain.
I hope few of you are disturbed by the tone of our scene as we liquidate Ghisallo wood rim inventory.
I was convinced new spokes had to be fabricated to fit wood, but modern clincher style, rims.
He recently began riding a set of Ghisallo wood rims, thanks to the skilled building of Portland’s Jude Kirstein. The bike name, “Owen,” refers to Owen Woolley with whom Ken apprenticed for wooden boat building in New Zealand. A big part of the magic of making things (from meals to bikes to films) is seeing a mental visualization become physical and shareable.
There’s perhaps no competitive cycling event for which wood rims can make such a contribution.
