Free wooden fishing kayak plans, balsa wood art projects, small wood sailboat plans - Plans Download
Hi Jeff, I took my Arrow Point Kayak on it's maiden voyage yesterday on a small lake near Detroit Lakes, MN. Click on the image below to be taken to the description web page where you can read more or order the plans.
Wood duck has been out on Windermere several times and is brilliant – tracks beautifully, forgivingly stable, and covers the miles fairly effortlessly given its novice paddler owner. The Wood Ducks are amongst the easiest to build kits: the joints are pre-cut and the holes are pre-drilled. Unlike our other boats, the Wood Duck has no forward bulkhead, therefore use of buoyancy bags is strongly recommended. A cedar-strip decked Wood Duck kayak is also available, combining the simple hull construction of stitch-and-glue with the beauty of cedar-strip.
A couple of build logs on our forum show a Wood Duck 12 being built and even a pair of Wood Ducks built simultaneously.
The Wood Duck 10 will carry paddlers who weigh up to 200 pounds and still have a good turn of speed.
These plans and manual contain sufficient information on the cutting of the panels to make it possible to build the boat from scratch rather than a kit. This option contains the solid wood and plywood components pre-cut to the correct size with pre-cut joints, plus the construction manual. Thank you for making available free plans to anyone wanting to take on the challenge of building a boat. I saw this picture and thought it would be a great idea for cartopping a homebuilt wooden boat on top of a pickup truck.
I recently completed a 14' version of your Huntington Harbor from the plans offered on your website. I am very fortunate to came across your site, I was not looking for info on boat building, I think it was something about fishing Socal shore. In a tenth of the time it takes to launch a heavy boat on a trailer or drag the big canoe down the beach, you can slide one of these little kayaks into the water and be on your way. Sheathed inside and out in glass fabric, the Wood Duck will withstand real-world abuse on gravel or shell beaches, and will bounce over submerged stumps without harm.
There is also a child's version of the Wood Duck, called the Wood Duckling and a tandem kayak called the Wood Duck Double. It does not contain the plans (these are not required because the wood is pre-cut), any of the epoxy to glue and coat the boat, the fabric or tape nor any of the hardware or rigging. Now they want a motor-powered craft and I am hooked on boat building, so I will give stitch and glue a go and will be purchasing the 14' Maxi Miss plans in the near future.
The boats can carry a heavy payload in the fore and aft compartments, enough for picnicking, camping or a whole lot of fishing gear.
