These programs are ideal for those who want to learn carpentry with the hands-on approach of an apprenticeship, and at the same time earn a real college certificate or associate degree. If work opportunities are available, and the Apprentice completes a minimum of 4,000 hours of on-the-job training over a four year period of time, successfully completes all related instruction, and has satisfactory monthly progress reports, then journeyman status is granted. Students deciding to enter the field of carpentry will be introduced to the basics of safety and sanitation, as well as use and care of hand tools, power tools and stationary equipment.
