Build with scrap wood, woodworking plans for coffee table free, wood fence designs diy - Reviews
In conceptualizing the hut, Eussen set out to use scrap wood in a creative and replicable way.
Eussen hopes his building methods here will be applicable to other larger construction projects. Made from FSC-certified wood and random scraps, Coco Hut is a cozy shelter shaped like a ball. Synecdoche has a partnership with a local hardwood mill in Michigan who donates the scrap edges left over from their milling process. I wanted something to hide my garbage cans (and to avoid any problems with bears) but I didn't want to spend a fortune.
All this wood was free – the guy from the shed place, Cap City, provided the blonde boards and the mahogany boards are used to burn – so all of it was “discarded” wood that companies literally throw away.
Netherlands-based designer Gert Eussen may have a solution with his Coco-Hut, a cozy and round hut made of scrap and FSC-certified wood.
The waste wood-cuts used to build the hut are from pine beams used commonly in the Netherlands, the pillars holding the hut are scrap Douglas Fir and the door handle is a leftover piece of Beech wood. One of the coolest concepts ever- as soon as I have a backyard (currently impossible because I live in New York), I’m going to build something like this. I fill the packages with treats, toys, and activity cards to mix it up and keep it interesting. With an element of whimsy, the structure looks a little bit like a beehive with a linear version of the honeycomb texture. So I scrounged leftover building materials from my friends and from the side of the road and the dump and built this.
I came across this, this, and this on Pinterest and decided that building a wooden advent tree as our calendar would be perfect this year!
The Coco-Hut is also unmistakably cute with its round shape and humble staircase leading inside. Now I have a little garbage can enclosure that is just the right size, was easy to build and didn't cost much at all!
We went rummaging through the scrap pile to find some old 4?4?s and 2?4?s to turn into the perfect nesting box platform.
