WalzCraft offers a variety of Cabinet Refacing Materials including Non-Adhesive Veneer, PSA Veneer, Veneer and MDF Core Plywood, and Solid Wood Refacing Stock. The Non-Adhesive Paper Back Veneer is composed of a wood veneer applied to a paper backing, resulting in a thin product that is easy to work with. The Non-Adhesive Wood Back Veneer is a 2-ply veneer (face veneer is the species specified by the customer and the back is a luan veneer that simply helps balance out the sheet). Securing this veneer can be done by applying solvent or water based contact cement to both the cabinet and veneer in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.
The Non-Adhesive Phenolic Back Veneer is stiffer, thicker, and more resistant to dents than both the Paper Back and Wood Back Veneers. The phenolic backing is similar to laminate countertop material and has characteristics that cause it to perform like laminate. The Pressure Sensitive Wood Back Veneer has the same features as the Non-Adhesive Wood Back Veneer, but is supplied with a 3M Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) applied to the back. When installing this product it is critical that pressure be applied with a veneer-smoothing blade for proper adhesion.
Common wood working tools such as table saws, sanders and routers work well with this product. The Solid Wood Refacing Stock (RFS100) will be the closest match to the grain of the new door. When installing this the PSA 3D Laminate (RTF) it is critical that pressure be applied with a veneer-smoothing blade for proper adhesion. WiseWood wood veneer edgebanding is the perfect compliment and finishing touch on your veneered panels and edges. Many phenolic back materials will leave a black line at the edge or corner of a cabinet; however, our Non-Adhesive Phenolic Back Veneers use a lighter colored phenolic that eliminates this issue. It is the thinnest of all the refacing materials and is supplied with a 3M Pressure Sensitive Adhesive (PSA) applied to the back.

This is an excellent alternative to traditional laminate backed veneer which is stiff and more susceptible to breaking or splitting. The perpendicular grain between the two layers adds stability and flexibility to the veneer sheet and the extra thickness helps to protect against substrate telegraphing.

For the sides of the cabinet or larger surfaces, we recommend a stiffer material such as the Non-Adhesive Phenolic back 3D Laminate (RTF) Veneer. The all wood construction of wood on wood sheets also helps to camouflage edge lines giving your project a cleaner appearance.

When you receive your veneer it needs to acclimatize to conditions in your environment to reach equilibrium. The durability and reparability are two additional features that solid wood refacing stock is known for.
PSA veneer is ideal for cabinet re-facing, re-doing speaker cabinets and general veneering on a variety of surfaces. The ideal environment to achieve equilibrium with your veneer is defined as 30-55% relative humidity at a temperature range between 55-85 degrees F.
The veneer and edgebanding will accept stains and finishes well so customizing and matching colors is also a snap. Prior to application, allow your veneer a minimum of 48-72 hours lying flat out of the box within the range of conditions stated. It’s also important that your substrate be acclimatized in the same conditions as the veneer to have greater success and avoid problems.
