And got a little fancy with the legs to really make this table unique and full of character! If you want to make this table for yourself, of course we got you covered with the free plans.
Wow - I love the feel of the original farmhouse table, but didn't like the legs as they seemed to be in the way - this is the perfect fix and so beautiful.
Hillary made this table with pocket holes instead of adding the 2x2 supports as done in the original plan, saving a ton of cuts and holes to be drilled, which saves time and money.
I decided to make a farmhouse table using your plans 2 weeks back, but decided to adjust the plans for pocket holes.
You can construct your own farmhouse table made of planks of solid reclaimed pine, this farmhouse table expands to seat up to 8 people. In a previous design there were extentions for the table to add I believe 15 more inches per end.
Whitney has a family of seven, and wanted to build a sturdy and strong farmhouse table with a little bit of fancy to it to dine on outdoors this summer.
OF COURSE the center piece is also DIY - so make sure you head over to visit Whitney at Shanty2Chic to get all the details, lots more photos, and a peek at her construction process! For more photos and construction details, please stop over and visit Whitney at Shanty2Chic!
Hi Cristina, I haven't had any complaints about sturdiness from anyone else, so I think the plan is fine. If there is still a wobble, you can corner brace the legs with either metal 90 degree corners or a piece of wood cut at an angle (check out the underside of a table to see how corners are braced).
I can't wait to build the table but don't want to start until I can find plans for matching chairs. Those plans also include removable leaves on both end that would eliminate the chair problem on the ends.
Anyway, those plans also include removable end leaves that would take care of the concerns with end seats. When we stumbled upon a beautiful, long farmhouse table from Anthropologie, I knew it was love at first sight. I've also got some very old salvaged wide planks and I was considering to make a farmhouse table.
