East defeated Olentany on Saturday by a score of 10-0. No other information was available.

The #5 Ranked Thunderhawks lost to the #3 ranked Firebirds by a score of 10-2 Tuesday night. Offensive leaders were: Kaleb Lepper 2-4, Adam McDonough 2B. Andy Almquist suffered the loss from the mound.

Next up is Hamilton at Prasco Park as part of the Reds Future’s Showcase Wednesday night at 7pm.Tickets are $5 each.

4/9 Hamilton lost 5-3 1-3 0-3 LINK

The Thunderhawks fell to #5 Hamilton last night 5-3 in the Reds futures showcase at Prasco park. Hayden Senger led the way offensively going 2-3 with a 2B. Kyle Lepper took the loss in a very good effort on the mound going 5 innings and Tanner Fanta went the final 2.

4/12 Fenwick won 7-6 2-5 0-5 LINK

The Hawks regrouped and defeated Fenwick on Saturday by a score of 7-6.

4/16 @ Mason won 3-2 2-6 0-6 LINK

The Thunderhawks fell in a close one to Mason on Wednesday by a score of 3-2. Kyle Lepper pitched a complete game for the Hawks, but the offense couldn't take advantage of 5 Comet errors after getting an early lead.

4/17 @ Princeton won 9-1 3-6 1-6 LINK East gets their first GMC win Thursday night against Princeton, 9-1. James Leisinger pitched six strong innings giving up only 5 hits with 9 strikeouts. Tanner Fanta came in the close the door in the 7th to secure the win. The Thunderhawks offense was led by Adam McDonough, 2-3, 2RBI, Hayden Senger, 2-3, Kyle Lepper with a triple, and Max Minniear with a double.

vs. Battleground Academy

(Nashville)

won 15-0 4-6 1-6 LINK

On Friday, the Thunderhawks travelled to Nashville, Tennessee to play a doubleheader against host Battleground Academy. The bus ride didn’t tire the offense. East won 15-0 behind the bats of Max Minniear (2-3, 2RBI), Kaleb Lepper (2-4, 1RBI), Kyle Lepper (2-3, triple, 4RBI), Austin Hatfield (2-4, 1RBI), and Mykelti Akemon (1-2, 2RBI).

The defense and pitching did not disappoint either. Andy Almquist pitched a whale of a game only giving up 3 hits, no runs, and 6 strikeouts over a run ruled 5 innings.

vs. Battleground Academy

(Nashville)

won 9-8 5-6 1-6 LINK

Game two was an exciting contest where the Thunderhawks had to make a late game comeback. East got down early 4-0 after 3 innings. Thunderhawks started chipping away in the 4th inning with a double by Adam McDonough followed by back to back singles by Kyle Lepper and Kevin Chapin to close it within 2 runs. The fifth inning saw East post 3 more runs by singles again by Kevin Chapin and 2RBI single by Hayden Senger.

Going into the 6th, Hawks were down by 6-5 with 2 more innings to play. Unfortunately, East let up 2 runs in the 6th and going into the final inning, needing 3 runs to take it to extra innings or 4 runs to take the lead. That’s just exactly what East got. With bases loaded, Mitchell Bodden came in to pinch hit and lined a single to right to start the scoring. East got the four runs needed and Nick Stewart who had been pitching since the middle of the 4th came back out to the mound to close the door and got his first win of the season. Hawks win 9-8.

vs. Christian Brothers

(Nashville)

lost 8-1 5-7 1-6 LINK

Saturday brought a new opponent, Christian Brothers High School out of Memphis, Tennessee. East faced a tough senior pitcher who is heading to Ole Miss. Unfortunately, East could only muster 4 hits and one run. The hits came off the bats of Cameron Davis, Andy Almquist, Kaleb Lepper and Adam McDonough. McDonough’s double scored Lepper for East’s only run of the game.

One highlight for East was the pitching of sophomore, Ryan Middendorf. Ryan came in to start the fifth and over 3 innings gave up no hits, no runs, 3 strikeouts and only 2 walks. The final score of game one was 8-1.

4/19

vs. Christian Brothers

(Nashville)

lost 5-2 5-8 1-6 LINK East had a chance to split the double header with Christian Brothers but couldn’t muster enough runs to get the job done, losing 5-2. The Thunderhawk bats had two hits, Adam McDonough (1-2, 1RBI) and Mason Barger (1-3, single). Defensively, East can boast in having one of the best catchers in the GMC, Hayden Senger. Senger threw out 2 base runners in the 3rd and 5th innings.

East will next host GMC rival Princeton Vikings at home Monday at 5 PM, then on Tuesday host Mason in a makeup from April 14. .
4/21 Princeton won 112-2 6-8 2-6 LINK

The Lakota East Thunderhawks continued their winning ways against Princeton, Monday night, with a 12-2 victory in a run ruled 5 innings.

The win was a team effort, especially from the Lepper Brothers. Senior Kyle Lepper pitched a complete 3 hit, 8 strikeouts game and helped himself at the plate by going 2-3 with 3 RBI’s. While, sophomore Kaleb Lepper batted 2-4 with a double and an inside the park homerun, collecting 3 RBI’s. Following Kaleb’s shot to go back to back homeruns was Adam McDonough with a blast over the left center wall. Adding to the hit parade was Max Minniear (2-2, 2 triples, 2 RBI), Mitchell Bodden (1-2, 1 RBI), and Mykelti Akemon (2-2).

Mason

(makeup from 4/14)

won 10-1 7-8 3-6 LINK

East gets signature win against Mason on Tuesday with a 10-1 trouncing of the Comets. The Thunderhawks split the series and string together 3 straight GMC wins. East got the job done with their hot bats collecting 8 hits and winning 10-1 off of one of the best pitchers in the GMC.

The Thunderhawks spread the wealth of hits and scoring runs from Adam McDonough (2-3, double, triple, 3RBI), Kaleb Lepper (2-3, 1RBI), Kyle Lepper (1-1, 1RBI), Hayden Senger (1-3, triple, 1RBI), Mitchell Bodden (1-3, double, 2RBI), and Mason Barger with a sacrifice RBI. Right-hander, Andy Almquist pitched a phenomenal game last night. Andy having back to back outstanding starts, went the distance only giving up 3 hits, 1 run with 9 strikeouts.


Next up for the Thunderhawks is GMC foe Colerain, tonight, 5pm at home.

4/23 Colerain lost 5-4 7-9 3-7 LINK

The Lakota East baseball team lost a disappointing game Wednesday night against the Colerain Cardinals, 5-4. The Thunderhawks took the early lead in the first inning which started with a base hit by Senior Max Minniear. Max then stole second and third and was brought home on a sacrifice fly to right by Adam McDonough.

James Leisinger did a great job keeping the Cardinals off the board through 4 innings. Going into the 5th with a score of 1-0 East, Colerain was able to get some key hits with the help of an untimely error, and scored 3 runs. Not giving up, the Thunderhawks battled back scoring 3 runs from an RBI single by Hayden Senger and sacrifice bunt by Andy Almquist. The top of the 7th, East was up by one, 4-3. Colerain plated 2 runs off 4 hits to take the lead. East had one more chance and unfortunately could not capitalize, ending the game 5-4.


The Thunderhawks will get a chance on Friday to even the series at Colerain at 5pm. East will also be hosting Anderson and Centerville Saturday starting at 11am.

 

4/25 @ Colerain won 11-7 8-9 4-7 LINK The Lakota East Thunderhawks came back with a vengeance against the Colerain Cardinals Friday night winning by a score of 11-7. East scored 9 runs in the first three innings off the bats of Max Minniear (3-4, triple, 3RBI), Kyle Lepper (1-3, single, RBI), Adam McDonough (2-3, double, RBI), and the absolutely hot bat of Hayden Senger (3-3, single 2 HOMERUNS, 5 RBI).
Tanner Fanta had an outstanding performance from the mound only giving up 4 runs and collecting 7 strikeouts. The Thunderhawks held off a late rally by Colerain and split the series.
4/26 @ Anderson won 5-2 10-9 4-7 LINK

East upsets #2 Anderson, 5-2 on Saturday. Kyle Lepper pitched an incredible game against a very good hitting Anderson Redskins team Saturday morning. Lepper gave up 3 hits, 1 run and had 8 strikeouts in the contest and Ryan Middendorf earned his first save.


The Thunderhawk bats continued to stay hot, especially from Senior Max Minniear who had a triple, an inside the park homerun, and accounted for 3 of the 5 Thunderhawk runs. The rest of the offense was contributed by Mykelti Akemon (2-3), Hayden Senger (1-3, single, RBI), Kaleb Lepper (sacrifice RBI), and Mitchell Bodden (1-3).

4/26 Centerville won 7-6 11-9 4-7 LINK

East earns victory in comeback fashion on Saturday by a score of 7-6 on Saturday. Lakota East played a very talented Centervile Elks team as part of a double header at Thunderhawk field.

The Thunderhawks scored an early run in the first off an Elk error. Centerville then answered with two of their own in the 3rd to take the lead 2-1.
Not to be outdone, East gets one run back off a RBI single by Adam McDonough. Then in the 5th inning, Centerville had a big inning scoring 4 runs and taking a 6-2 lead. Still fighting, East puts two more on the board thanks in part to a couple of Centerville errors.


Going into the 7th with a score of 6-4, Ryan Middendorf, who had already earned a save earlier, comes in to shut down the Elk’s offense to give East a chance to win. Ryan went 1-2-3 against the heart of Centerville’s lineup to be in line for the win. Mykelti Akemon led off the bottom half with a single, Max Minniear moved Akemon to second on a hard ground out to third. Kaleb Lepper then moved Mykelti to third on a ground out to the 1st baseman. With Adam McDonough up, Mykelti scored on a passball and the tying run was at the plate. McDonough hit a triple to right. Hayden Senger hit a single up the middle to tie the game, scoring McDonough. Senger then stole second with Kyle Lepper at the plate. Kyle hit a walk off line drive to left that scored the game winning run.

East will play at Middletown today, weather permitting.

4/28 @ Middletown         LINK PPD
4/29 Sycamore won 11-2 12-9 5-7 LINK

Sycamore and Lakota East met for the second game of the series and East came out victorious, 11-2, in a 6 inning rain shortened game.

Andy Almquist pitched a very good game. He pitched the complete game giving up only one hit, 2 runs, and had 8 strikeouts. Andy also helped himself in the win at the plate. He went 4-4 with 2 doubles.


Also adding to the offensive totals were Max Minniear (1-4, triple, 2 RBI), Kaleb Lepper (2-4, RBI), Adam McDonough (2-3, double, RBI), Hayden Senger (1-3, HOMERUN(3), RBI), Kyle Lepper (1-3, double, RBI), Mitchell Bodden (3-4, 2RBI), Austin Hatfield (1-3, RBI), and Mykelti Akemon (2 sacrifice flies, 2 RBI).


Next up for East is Middletown, Wednesday at home, 5pm.

4/30 Middletown won 4-3 13-9 6-7 LINK

On Wednesday, East hosted the Middletown Middies and got the win, 4-3. East pitching was solid on the arms of Senior James Leisinger who went 5 innings only giving up 3 runs and collected 7 strikeouts. The relief core of Nick Stewart and Ryan Middendorf came in and pitched the 6th and 7th innings respectively shutting the door on the Middie bats.


The offense got to a slow start but was able to string the runs needed throughout the game. The runs came from Andy Almquist (2-2, double, RBI), Mitchell Bodden (2-3, RBI), Adam McDonough (1-2, double), Hayden Senger (1-2) and Kaleb Lepper who had a base hit and stole home on a passball to be the go ahead run.

5/1 @ Middletown (makeup from 4/28) won 6-3 14-9 7-7 LINK

On Thursday, East travelled to Middletown to play the Middies once again. The Thunderhawks came out on top with a score of 6-3. East started the scoring early this time with a RBI single by Adam McDonough and RBI by Hayden Senger.

Later in the 5th inning, Hayden Senger and Kyle Lepper pieced together back to back hits to be brought home on a 2 RBI single by Mitchell Bodden. In the 6th, East added one more run on a single by Adam McDonough, scoring Mykelti Akemon who had led off the inning with a base hit.


On the hill for the Thunderhawks was Senior Tanner Fanta. Tanner had a great outing giving up only 1 hit and one earned run. Sophomore Ryan Middendorf came in to close the game in the 7th striking out the side in dominating fashion.


Next up for East is Fairfield on Friday at Thunderhawk field, 5pm.

5/2 Fairfield won 3-2 15-9 8-7 LINK

Lakota East won in walk off fashion, 3-2 against Fairfield last Friday at home. The Lepper Brothers do it once again. Senior Kyle Lepper pitched a complete game allowing only 2 hits and striking out four batters. With a score of 2-0 Fairfield, he kept East in the game so that the offense could rally back.


Early in the game, the Thunderhawks couldn’t catch a break but in the 6th inning all that changed. With one out, Adam McDonough hit a solo home run and Hayden Senger hit a double. Kyle Lepper then moved Senger to third where he stole home on a passball. Game tied 2-2.


Kyle Lepper came back out in the 7th, Fairfield goes down 1-2-3. With rally caps on, Mitchell Bodden led the East 7th off with a single. Mason Barger then moved him to 2nd with a ground out. Mykelti Akemon was hit by a pitch. So with runners on first and second, Max Minniear hit into a fielder’s choice which allowed Bodden to move to third. Game tied, 2 outs, runner on 3rd, Kaleb Lepper stepped to the plate hitting a line drive into right field which scored Bodden and the winning run.

East is the #12 seed in the upcoming sectional. They will host their first round game against Middletown on Tuesday, May 13th at 5:00 PM.

5/5 @ Fairfield won 4-0 16-9 9-7 LINK

East extends their win streak to 8!

Lakota East came out on top of the Fairfield Indians with a score of 4-0 on Monday afternoon. Andy Almquist continued to pitch extremely well, going the distance in the shutout. Almquist gave up only 3 hits and collected 8 strikeouts in the match-up.


The Thunderhawks hit the ball hard but unfortunately was not able to capitalize until the 5th inning. Adam McDonough singled in Kaleb Lepper to take the lead at 1-0. Then in the 7th, the Thunderhawks gave Almquist some insurance. With one out, Max Minniear doubled, followed by a single from Kaleb Lepper. Adam McDonough, who went 3-4 on the night, doubled scoring Minniear. The Indians then intentionally walked Hayden Senger to load the bases. Kyle Lepper had a great at bat getting a walk RBI. Almquist then helped himself with a sacrifice fly to right scoring McDonough for the 4-0 lead.


Almquist earned his 5th win of the season by going 3up and 3down in the bottom of the 7th. Next up for the Thunderhawks is an away game on Wednesday at Oak Hills. Game time 5pm.

5/7 @ Oak Hills won 11-7 17-9 10-7 LINK

Lakota East (11-7) holds off Oak Hills for the win, 11-7 last Wednesday. The first inning was an exciting inning with 9 runs scored by both teams. East scored 5 runs on 5 hits in the first by Max Minniear, Hayden Senger (2 RBI), Kyle Lepper, Mitchell Bodden (RBI), and Mason Barger (2RBI).

Oak Hills score four of their own runs in the bottom of the inning. Hayden Senger, who had a great day going 3-5 with a double (4RBI), hit a solo homerun in the 2nd inning give East a 6-4 lead. Then in the 5th inning, East added 4 more runs on hits by Kaleb Lepper (2-3, double, 2RBI) and Adam McDonough (2-3, 2 doubles, 2RBI).


Kyle Lepper settled down after the first inning and pitched 4 scoreless innings for the win. Cameron Davis took the mound in relief to pitch the 6-7th innings giving up just 3 runs.


Senior night is tonight at Thunderhawk field against Oak Hills at 5pm. (weather permitting)

5/9 Oak Hills won 6-5 18-9 11-7 LINK

The Lakota East Thunderhawks end the regular season with a 10 game winning streak beating Oak Hills 6-5 last Friday. On a senior night that proved to be memorable, the Thunderhawks were down 5-0 going into the bottom half of the 5th inning. The bats finally came alive. With one out, Senior Max Minniear hit a single to left. Followed by RBI double from Kaleb Lepper, then a RBI single by Adam McDonough. Hayden Senger kept the drive alive by hitting a RBI double. Senior Kyle Lepper hit a line drive to right moving Senger to third. Andy Almquist was walked to load the bases. In a clutch situation, Mitchell Bodden stepped to the plate hitting a bases clearing 3 run triple to give East a 6-5 lead.


The pitching was led by Seniors James Leisinger, Tanner Fanta, and Nick Stewart who earns the win. Ryan Middendorf came in to close collecting his fourth save of the season.


The Thunderhawks close out the regular season 3rd in the GMC with a record of 18-9 overall and 11-7 in the GMC. Thank you to our seniors, Alex Bockhorst, Max Minniear, Kyle Lepper, James Leisinger, Tanner Fanta, and Nick Stewart. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

won 7-1 19-9 11-7 LINK

Lakota East advances in tournament play beating Middletown 7-1 on Tuesday. Senior Kyle Lepper was outstanding both on the mound and at the plate. Lepper gave up only 4 hits on no earned runs. Offensively, Lepper helped himself for the win by going 2-3 with a double, triple and 3 RBI’s. Sophomore Ryan Middendorf earned his fifth save closing the game in the 7th.


Other offensive highlights were from Hayden Senger (2-4, 3 RBI), Max Minniear (2-3, double), and Adam McDonough (1-3, double).


East continues in the post season and will play 6th seeded Harrison on Thursday at Harrison, 5pm. Good

East Advances BB Advances in Post Season!

Lakota East knocks off 6 seeded Harrison 7-2 on Thursday night. The Thunderhawks advance in tournament play on the solid pitching from Andy Almquist. Almquist pitched a complete game allowing only 2 runs.


The defense really stepped up in this game with two double plays to end innings with runners on. The first was with a fly ball to centerfielder Max Minniear who caught and then threw the ball into second baseman Mykelti Akemon. The runner was off the bag and was tagged for the out. The other double play was with runners on 1st and 2nd , the ball was hit back to Almquist who with no indecision went to third baseman, Adam McDonough, on the force. McDonough then threw a laser to first baseman Austin Hatfield to get the double play and end the inning.


The Thunderhawk bats kept chipping away throughout the game. In the 1st, McDonough walked and Hayden Senger hit a line drive double to deep left scoring McDonough. Mykelti Akemon led off the 3rd with a base hit who then scored on a sacrifice fly by McDonough. The Hawks were able to tack on 3 big runs in the 5th with a 2 RBI single by Austin Hatfield. East then gets 2 more runs in the 5th and 7th by hits from Hayden Senger and Kyle Lepper.


Lakota East (#12 seed) will face Elder(#3 seed) for the Sectional Championship this Thursday, 5pm at Loveland High School.

SECTIONAL CHAMPIONS!

The Baseball Hawks are hot, as they usually are at this time of the season! Lakota East wins Sectionals beating Elder 10-0 in 8 innings on Thursday afternoon. It was the team's 13th straight victory.

The game was a pitchers dual through 7 innings. Senior Kyle Lepper pitched one of the most dominant pitching performances of the year going the distance giving up only one hit, four strikeouts, and no runs.

The Thunderhawks faced Elder’s best pitcher and he proved it over 7 innings, giving up only 3 hits and no runs. But all that changed in the 8th, Mykelti Akemon started the inning with a single up the middle. Kaleb Lepper then had a bunt single which moved the lead runner to second. With one out, Adam McDonough hit a line drive to left scoring the first run of the game.

That’s all it took for the flood gates to open. East was able to score a total of 10 runs in the inning off of hits from Kaleb Lepper (3-5), Adam McDonough (2-4, 3RBI), Mitchell Bodden (2-4, 2RBI), Mason Barger (1-4, 1RBI), and Mykelti Akemon (2-4).

Lakota East (21-9) will now advance to District Final and meet #1 seed Beavercreek this Saturday 5:00 PM at Centerville HS.

Lakota East District Runners-Up

The Lakota East Baseball season came to an end on Saturday evening to the Beavercreek Beavers 1-0 at Centerville High School. The Thunderhawks had a few chances to plate a run and unfortunately just couldn’t string enough hits together.

The hits were collected by Max Minniear, Kaleb Lepper (2-4), Adam McDonough (2-3), and Kyle Lepper. Andy Almquist pitched very well in the titanic struggle striking out five.


The Thunderhawks have nothing to be ashamed of having won 13 straight games prior to Saturday and ending the season 21-10.

Congratulatons to all the players and coaches on another fine season!

East knocked out 13 hits, leading hitters: Freshman, Rachel Lewis ( 3 for 3), Senior, Kadey Astrop (2 for 3), Senior, Gracie Sprockett (2 for 3), Junior, Kylie Dempsey (2 for 3), Sophomore, Samatha Galvin (2 for 3)

Junior, Payton Callihan, had the winning hit with 2 RBI's to finish the game.

Game started off the bottom half of the first inning with East scoring 3 runs. In the bottom of the 5th, East scored 7 runs.

East record is now 1-1 on the season. Wednesday, April 2nd they play away at Hamilton.

East was back in action on Saturday versus Boone County (KY). The Hawks rallied from a 5-0 deficit in the 5th inning, scoring 4 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th, and the game winner with Kady Astrop’s walk-off double in the bottom of the seventh for the win.

Mallory Caproni picked up her first varsity win in relief, giving up 2 runs in 4 innings of work, striking out 1. East bats came alive after a sluggish start as they pounded out 15 hits. The attack was led by Mackenzie Rieck (2 doubles) and Rachel Lewis (triple, 2 stolen bases) who both went 3-4. Hannah Messer and Kylie Dempsey were both 2-4, Tara Manning tripled and Peyton Callihan doubled.

East improves to 2-1 and plays Lakota West away on Monday, weather permitting.

The Hawks jumped out to a quick 6-0 after 2 innings and defeated Badin 8-4 in a non-league matchup on Tuesday. Kady Astrop got the offense rolling early by leading off the game with a triple, Payton Callihan doubled her home to begin East’s quick start.

The top of the order (Kady, Payton, and Rachel Lewis) ended the game going 6-8 and scoring 7 runs to pace the offense. Kianah Towe (2-1)picked up the win in the circle, giving up 4 hits and striking out 7.

The Hawks travelled to Princeton on Wednesdayand defeated the Vikings 17-1 in a GMC matchup.

Kady Astrop led the way offensively by leading off the game with a home run and finishing 2-2 with 3 walks, while Rachel Lewis went 2-4 with 2 rbi, Sam Galvan was 2-4 with a double and an rbi, and Ashley Remley was 1-1 with 3 walks. Overall, the offense was patient as they drew 8 walks on the day and were hit by 4 pitches. Bri Castner picked up her first varsity win and Mallory Caproni threw 2 innings of no-hit relief.

 

4/10 @ Butler won 22-2 5-1 1-1 LINK

East travelled to Vandalia on Thursday for a non-league matchup and defeated the Aviators 22-2 in a run rule.

The Hawks scored at least 3 runs in each of the first 4 innings and pounded out 20 hits on the their way to the victory. Mackenzie Rieck led the way offensively going 4-4 on the day while these Hawks each had multiple hit days: Kady Astrop, Rachel Lewis, Tara Manning, Ashley Remley, Hannah Messer, and Kylie Dempsey. Kiannah Towe (3-1) picked up the win, throwing 3 innings of 1 hit, shutout ball and striking out 5. Mallory Caproni closed out the game, striking out 2 in 2 innings of work.

4/11 Colerain won 15-5 6-1 2-1 LINK

East defeated Colerain last Friday, 15-5 to improve to 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the GMC. The Hawks jumped out to a 9-0 lead early, Colerain closed to 9-5 off of a relief pitcher, and East quickly shut down Colerain’s comeback effort by scoring the last 6 runs.

Kiannah Towe pitched 5 and a third innings for the win, she struck out 7 Cardinals. The East offense pounded out 15 hits led by Mackenzie Rieck, who was 3-4 with her first career home run, a double, and 5 rbi. 4/12 Oak Hills (makeup) won 7-3 7-1 3-1 LINK East defeated Oak Hills 7-3 last Saturday at the Hawk’s Nest in a league make-up game. Kiannah Towe (4-1) picked up the win in the circle, striking out 6 and allowing just 5 hits. The Hawks offense did their damage early, scoring twice in the 2nd and five times in the 3rd. Taylor Fair led off the 2nd with a double to get things rolling and Tara Manning had the key blow in the 3rd with a 2-run double. The Hawks dropped a 2-1 decision to Mason on Monday. Taylor Fair was the tough luck losing pitcher in her first start of the season. Taylor held the Comets to 2 hits as the Hawks gave up 2 unearned runs, 1 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th.

East’s only run was knocked in on a single by Taylor Fair, which plated Kady Astrop who reached on a walk. East had multiple chances to score but left 10 runners on base. Taylor Fair ended the game 2-4 and Hannah Messer had East’s only other hit.


East's game at home vs. Wilmington was snowed out yesterday. They will host Middletown this afternoon and play at Sycamore on Thursday.

East jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead after the first inning and never looked back as they defeated Middletown 12-0 in 5 innings. Leading the way offensively was Kady Astrop who went 3-4 including her second HR of the season.

Tara Manning, Taylor Fair, and Gracie Sprockett each had multiple hits. While Manning, Rachel Lewis, Mackenzie Rieck, and Sam Galvan all doubled. Kiannah Towe (6-1) picked up the win giving up only 3 hits while striking out 5 in 5 innings.

Kiannah Towe picked up her 7th win against 1 defeat while Taylor Fair picked up a save throwing a 1-2-3 7th. East jumped out early scoring 3 runs in the first with Hannah Messer’s 2-run double the big hit and they scored single runs in the 2nd, 5th, and 6th, off of several Hamilton miscues. Hannah Messer was the only Hawk with multiple hits going 2-3.
4/19 Turpin won 6-4 12-2 6-2 LINK East rallied from a 4-0 deficit scoring 3 in the 4th, 1 in the 5th, and 2 in the 6th, to defeat Turpin 6-4. Taylor Fair picked up the win (3-1) while striking out 4. East took advantage of several Turpin errors, scoring 4 unearned runs with Peyton Callihan doing most of the damage with a 2-run double and an rbi single. 4/21 @ Fairfield won 9-1 13-2 7-2 LINK

East travelled to Fairfield on Monday and avenged one of its 2 defeats by crushing Fairfield 9-1. The Hawks pounded out 12 hits to help Taylor Fair to her 4th victory against 1 defeat. Taylor gave up 6 hits and only 1 unearned in her complete game victory while Rachel Lewis put the game out of reach with a 3-run homerun in the 6th.

Towe struck out 8 batters in 5 innings to record her 8th victory against 1 defeat. The Hawks pounded out 20 hits on Tuesday, including 3 home runs, 1 each by Rachel Lewis, Taylor Fair, and Peyton Callihan (the first of her career) as they scored in every inning on the way to their 20-0 win.

East defeated Hamilton 11-1 in GMC match-up at home on Wednesday. Taylor Fair (5-1) picked up the win in the circle throwing 5 shutout innings to end the game after giving up 1 run in the first. She helped her own cause by belting her 2nd homerun of the season, a 2-run shot, in the first giving the Hawks all the runs they would need.

4/24 Middletown Madison won 12-1 16-2 10-2 LINK East defeats Madison 12-1 on Thursday at the Hawks Nest behind Kiannah Towe’s 1-hitter and a 9-run 3rd inning.

After squandering scoring chances in the first two innings, the Hawks erupted for 9 runs in the third with Peyton Callihan and Tara Manning delivering the key hits. Kiannah improves to 9-1 in the circle yielding an earned run in the first but she retired the last 10 batters she faced while striking out 7. East won their 10th straight game on Friday and moved into a three-way tie for 1st in the GMC with Fairfield and Mason.

The Lady Hawks romped over Oak Hills in a slug fest by a score of 14-10 on Friday. East is now 17-2 overall and 10-2 in the league.

Trailing 7-1 entering the 4th, East closed the gap by scoring 4 in that frame with Tara Manning’s 2-run double being the key hit. O.H. extended the lead to 10-5 in the bottom half but the Hawks rallied for 9 runs in the 6th on 8 hits and taking advantage of several Highlander errors for the deciding margin of victory.

Kiannah Towe (10-1) picked up the win in relief while striking out 6. Taylor Fair also struck out 6 batters in her 3 innings of work. Kady Astrop had another fantastic day at the plate going 5-5 and scoring 4 runs. The Hawks defeated rival Lakota West on Monday by a score of 7-2. East jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after the first inning, taking advantage of 4 walks, with Mackenzie Rieck and Peyton Callihan producing rbi singles. East scored 1 more in the second and 6th innings and 2 in the 5th to take a 7-0 lead into the 7th. West scored two in the last frame for the final margin.

Taylor Fair (6-1) picked up the win, scattering 7 hits and striking out 2. Rachel Lewis led the way offensively going 3-4 with 2 triples and scoring 3 runs. Taylor Fair picked up 2 key rbi to help her own cause and Mackenzie Rieck and Peyton Callihan were both 2-3 with 2 rbi.

4/29 @ Lakota West (makeup) lost 4-3 18-3 11-3 LINK

East dropped a tough 4-3 decision to Lakota West last Tuesday giving up 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th. Taylor Fair took the loss in relief to drop to 6-2 overall.

The offensive attack was led by Gracie Sprockett and Rachel Lewis who each had two hits. Taylor Fair and Mackenzie Rieck each had rbi double and Gracie had the other Hawk rbi. East falls to 18-3 overall and 11-3 in the GMC.

The Hawks bounced back in a big way by defeating Princeton 26-0 on Wednesday. The first 11 batters scored as East put up 15 runs in the first inning and never looked back.

Three Hawks combined for the 2-hit, 8 strikeout shutout: Kiannah Towe (11-1), Mallory Caproni, and Danielle Eilerman. The Hawks dropped a 6-1 decision to Mason on Monday at the Hawk’s nest. After yielding 4 unearned runs in the first inning, East rallied to score their only run in the bottom half with Tara Manning doubling over the centerfielders head and scoring on Hannah Messer’s infield single. Mason scored 2 n the top of the 2nd for the final margin of victory.

Kiannah Towe (11-2) took the loss, giving up only 2 earned runs and Tara Manning went 2-3 with a double.

East falls to 19-4 overall and 2-4 in the GMC. Next up: at Middletown Wednesday.

5/7 @ Middletown won 14-0 20-4 13-4 LINK East defeats Middletown 14-0 as Kiannah Towe throws a no-hitter.

Kiannah Towe improves to 12-2 on the year throwing a no-hitter and striking out 10 in a quick 5 inning game. She helped her own cause at the plate going 2 for 3 with a double and a couple of rbi’s. East broke open a 1-0 game in the 2nd by erupting for 8 runs to put the game well out of reach. Rachel Lewis homered in the 3rd, a 3-run shot to centerfield to continue the scoring. 5/8 Sycamore (senior night) won 1-0 21-4 14-4 LINK

Seniors Kady Astrop, Taylor Fair, Ashley Remley, and Gracie Sprockett played their last regular season home game on Thursday as the Hawks defeated Sycamore 1-0.

Taylor Fair (7-2) picked up the win throwing a 5-hit shutout while striking out 7. Rachel Lewis singled home Ally Kates, who advanced to second on a bunt single by Ashley Remley, in the bottom of the 5th for the only run of the game. The Hawks managed only 4 hits on the day but 3 came in the decisive 5th inning.

The defense preserved the win by throwing out 2 runners at the plate in the 6th. The first on an infield bouncer to Tylor Fair and the second on a double steal with Rachel Lewis gunning down the runner attempting to steal home.

East begins tournament play Monday at home against Dayton Ponitz at 5:00. East is now 21-4 overall (14-4 in the GMC)

East opened tournament play with a 17-0 win over Dayton Ponitz, as 5 pitchers combined for the 2 hit shutout with Mallory Caproni (2-0) picking up the win. won 10-0 23-4 14-4   East defeated Tecumseh 10-0 in six innings with Kiannah Towe (13-2) picking up the win while striking out 9. The Hawks broke open a tight 1-0 game in the 5th by scoring 7 times. The key blow was Mackenzie Rieck’s grand slam HR, a line drive over the centerfield fence. The Hawks dropped a non-league match-up with Louisville Ballard 6-4 on Saturday. Taylor Fair (7-3) picked up the loss giving up only 3 earned runs. After giving up 2 runs in the top of the first, the Hawks rallied for 3 in the bottom half of the first on an rbi singl by Hannah Messer and a 2-run triple by Mackenzie Rieck.

Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the 6th, Mackenzie Rieck tied the contest with a solo homerun but the tie was short lived as Ballard scored 2 in the 7th for the final margin. Batting leaders for East: Kady Astrop, 2-4; Mackenzie Rieck, 2-3, 3B, HR, 3 rbi.

East defeats Wayne 5-1 on Monday to earn the Sectional Championship and advance in the post season. The Hawks scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning and 3 more in the 5th to jump out to a 5-0 lead as Kianah Towe (14-2) pitched a perfect game through 5. Wayne rallied for a run in the 6th on a couple of hits and an rbi groundout for a 5-1 final.

Hannah Messer lead off the 2nd with a triple and was plated on Mackenzie Rieck's rbi single. Kianah helped her own cause later in the inning with an rbi single. The Hawks pounded out 5 hits in the 5th to plate 3 runs on rbi singles by Kady Astrop and Kylie Dempsey. Batting leaders: Kady Astrop, 2-4; Rachel Lewis, 3-4, triple; Hannah Messer, 2-4, triple.

East (24-5) advances to the District final on Saturday at Northmont against Fairfield.

 

East (#2 seed) advances to the Southwest District Finals this Saturday, May 24 versus Fairfiled HS at 12:00 pm at Dayton Northmont. During the regular season the two teams split a pair of games with Fairfield winning 4-0 and East winning 9-1

In an entertaining contest between two evenly matched teams, the Thunderhawks defeated the Firebirds 3-2 on Wednesday to win the Lakota tennis bragging rights for the year. With the team score tied at 2-2, Boris Menninger rose to the challenge by winning a 2+ hour marathon match at first singles to seal the victory for the Hawks.

On Friday, East travelled north to play 12-1 Oakwood, one of the top teams in the Dayton region. All five courts saw incredible shots and clutch moments from both teams (especially at first singles and first doubles), but the Thunderhawks fell to the Lumberjacks by a score of 1-4.

Of note.....Former East tennis stars Zach Mueck and Freddy Abunku were recently named Co-Captains for the upcoming 2014-15 season for Xavier University men’s tennis team. Zach was also named team MVP for the current 2013-14 season.

The first doubles team of Kirill and Ethan continues to lead the way for the Hawks, defeating a talented Kings pair in straight sets. The Boy's Volleyball team upended their district rival, Lakota West, last Thursday, March 27th in just three games 25-14, 25-23, 25-13. They were lead by the defense of seniors Colin Dorman and Tyler Harsch, and the offense of Senior Bryan Keebler (11 kills) and Sophomore Brad Meyer (13 kills). Junior setter Bryant Kuhlman topped his 35 assists with 5 kills. East resumes league play on April 8th at East against Mason.

Next up they will host Mason on Tuesday, April 8th.

Boys' volleyball rallied to defeat Mason (19-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-16) on Tuesday night to stay undefeated on the season. Junior setter Bryant Kuhlman pushed through an ankle injury to serve 7 aces, have 5 blocks, and 23 assists. He was supported by sophomore outside hitter Brad Meyer with 11 kills and 10 digs, senior middle blocker Luke Schwarz with 5 blocks, and senior Tyler Harsch with 13 digs.

Next up the 4-0 Hawks play at Hamilton on Thursday.

4/10 @ Hamilton won 25-5, 25-9, and 25-9. 5-0 3-0

Boys' volleyball extended their winning streak to 5 defeating Hamilton in 3 straight sets, 25-5, 25-9, and 25-9 on Thursday. It was a true team effort as all players saw minutes. Junior setter Bryant Kuhlman had 10 aces and freshman brother Evan Kuhlman finished with 6 kills. Seniors Anmol Singh added 3 digs and and Luke Schwarz had 4 blocks.

Next up East will host St. Xavier and Fenwick in a tri match on Saturday.

East sufferred their first losses of the season when they hosted a tri meet this past Saturday. In the first contest they fell to Fewick by scores of 23-25, 25-23, 27-25.

4/14 Fairmont won 25-20, 25-23, 25-22      6-2 3-0 East defeated Kettering Fairmont in a non-conference match on Monday by scores of 25-20, 25-23, 25-22. Senior Tyler Harsch was an all around leader with 14 kills, 3 blocks, and 6 digs. He was joined by Seniors Colin Dorman (11 digs), Luke Schwarz (8 blocks), and Bryan Keebler (9 kills).
4/15 @ Fairfield won 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 6-2 4-0

Boys' volleyball remains undefeated in the GMC defeating Fairfield in three straight sets, 25-17, 25-13, 25-23 on Tuesday night. Outside hitters Brad Meyer (sophomore) and Bryan Keebler (senior) lead the offense with 12 and 10 kilss, respectively. Junior setter Bryant Kuhlman finished with 27 assists and 8 blocks. Senior Jack Mangold added 7 blocks.

The Hawks will face fellow GMC school Princeton at Princeton on Thursday.

4/17 @ Princeton won 25-9, 25-8, 25-13 7-2 5-0

Boys' volleyball defeated Princeton in three straight sets on Thursday night 25-9, 25-8, 25-13. Sophomore outside hitter Brad Meyer had 13 kills. Senior Tyler Harsch served 21 of the matches' points with 7 aces. Senior middle blocker Luke Schwarz had a career high 7 kills on top of 4 blocks.

The Thunderhawks have two big GMC matches against Sycamore on Tuesday and at Oak HIlls on Thursday. East currently sits atop the GMC standings at 5-0 (8-2 overall).

4/22 Sycamore won 25-18, 25-16, and 25-9 8-2 6-0

HAWKS STAY UNBEATEN IN GMC

The boys' Volleyball team defeated Sycamore 25-18, 25-16, and 25-9 on Tuesday remaining undefeated in the GMC. Sophomore outside hitter Brad Meyer had a season high 14 kills. Senior Bryan Keebler was close behind with 10. Junior Bryan Kuhlman served 23 of the game's points and had 28 assists.

The Thunderhawks plan to continue their undefeated streak Thursday at Oak Hills.

4/24 @ Oak Hills won 16-25, 25-12, 20-25, 25-14, and 15-8 10-2 7-0

Boys' volleyball remains undefeated in the GMC, holding on and beating defending champion Oak Hills in 5 sets, 16-25, 25-12, 20-25, 25-14, and 15-8 on Thursday night. Truly a team effort from both the bench and the court.

Sophomore Brad Meyer led the offense with 17 kills, followed close behind by senior Bryan Keebler with 13. Blocking was outstanding, Senior Luke Schwarz finished with 9, and senior Jack Mangold and sophomore Brad Meyer each had 7. Senior libero Tyler Harsch anchored the defense with 10 digs, as well as serving 25 of the games total points with 3 aces.

The Thunderhawks (10-2, 7-0 GMC) play at Westerville South this weekend, and have their final GMC match vs. Middletown on Wednesday April 30th.

GMC CHAMPS!

Lakota East is the 2014 GMC Boys Volleyball Champion! The Thunderhawks "ran the table" in the conference this season with a perfect 8-0 mark after sweeping Middletown on Wednesday evening. The Hawks have now won the league title four times; 2014, 2007, 2006 and 2003. In each of those championship years the team has gone undefeated to win the league.

"Bringing home the first title in seven years is very exciting," said head coach Brittney Starkey. "I credit it to the overall athleticism of our team and the boys' willingness to step into any position and do their best. I am excited and hopeful for even more success in the upcoming state tournament. This team has the talent to go deep in the post season."

With four matches remaining East has an overall record of 14-2. The team will play Dayton Carroll at home tonight (Thursday), at Northmont and Ghanna on Friday and conclude the regular season on May 6th at home against Milford. Post season play will begin the week of May 12th.

Boys' volleyball defeated Middletown in three straight sets (25-7, 25-13, 25-14). The Thunderhawks were lead by senior Bryant Keebler with 12 kills and sophomore Brad Meyer with 11 kills. Freshman Evan Kuhlman had 4 blocks, while junior brother Bryant Kuhlman had three aces. The Thunderhawks defense was anchored by senior Tyler Harsch.

They play Dayton Carroll Thursday at East and Gahanna Lincoln and Northmont in Dayton on Friday.

The GMC Champion boys' volleyball team defeated Carroll 23-25, 25-12, 25-10, 26-24 on Thursday to send their overall record to 15-2. Seniors Luke Schwarz and Jack Mangold, and freshman Evan Kuhlman each finished with 5 blocks. Sophomore Brad Meyer and Senior Bryan Keebler led the offense with 18 kills and 17 kills respectively. Junior Bryant Kuhlman finished with a career high 42 assists.

The Thunderhawks take on Northmont and Gahanna Lincoln at Northmont Friday night.

Boys' Volleyball traveled to Northmont on Friday night to defeat Northmont (19-25, 25-16, 26-24) and Gahanna Lincoln (21-25, 25-23, 26-24). Both were well fought matches by all 8 starters.

Outside hitters senior Bryan Keebler and sophomore Brad Meyer finished with 19 and 21 kills respectively, Junior setter Bryant Kuhlman added 69 kills to his season total, and right side hitter senior Jack Mangold had 11 blocks. The first year middle blockers each had strong performances. Senior Luke Schwarz had 19 blocks on the night while freshman Evan Kuhlman had 15 kills. The defense was anchored by seniors Tyler Harsch and Colin Dorman each with 21 digs.

East will conclude their regular season schedule on Tuesday with a home match against Milfrod. Please come out support the team on Senior Night!

The Thuderhawks beat Milford in three straight sets last Tuesday by scores of 25-18, 25-9, 25-15. It was a senior showcase in honor of their last home and regular season game as Lakota East Thunderhawks. Senior varsity players are Tyler Harsch (4 years), Bryan Keebler (3 years), Jack Mangold (2 years), Colin Dorman (2 years), Anmol Singh (1 year), Luke Schwarz (1 year), Steven Ricke (1 year), Gabe Behan (1 year), David Walters (1 year), and Bobby Siemer (1 year).

East finishes the regular sesaon with one of the programs best all time records at 18-2 and GMC Champions. They will begin their tournament journey next Tuesday vs. Kettering Fairmont at 7:00 pm at Beavercreek.

Boys Volleyall Returns to State!

The Thunderhawk boy's volleyball team earned a trip to State on Saturday defeating Beavercreek on their home turf and claiming the programs third Regional Title. It was a climatic "come-from'behind" win as East shocked the Beavers after they built a 2-1 advantage. Final scores were 30-28, 24-26, 18-25, 25-17, 15-12.

"It was truly a team effort," commented East head coach Brittney Starkey.

The Hawks were led senior Bryan Keebler with a season high 26 kills. He was followed close behind by sophomore Brad Meyer with 20. Junior settter Bryant Kuhlman contributed 42 assists, 6 blocks, and 12 digs. Defensive support was provided by senior libero Tyler Harsch who had 14 digs and passed a near perfect game.

East won Regional trophies in 2006 and 2007, making appearances at State each of those years. They reached the State Final four in 2006. The 2014 GMC Champion Hawks advanced their overall record to 20-2 on the season with Saturday's win.

There will be a traditional state send off celebration on Wednesday morning at 8:05 AM at the high school. East will face Elder HS in the state quarterfinals this Saturday at 11:45 at Hamilton High School. The State Finals will be held on Sunday also at Hamilton.

The Lakota East Boys Volleyball team fell to the eventual Division 1 State Champion, the Elder Panthers, in the quarterfinals of the State tournament on Saturday at Hamilton. East put up a good fight falling by scores of 25-18, 25-23, 25-13.

The loss ends a brilliant season as undefeated GMC and Regional Champions and posting one of the best records in boys volleyball program history at 20-3.

3/24 @ Mariemont lost 14-2 0-1 The Boys Lacrosse Team opened their 2014 season at Mariemont on March 24th with a 14-2 loss. Tyler Chalk (Fr) and Egan Baber (Fr) had a bit of a coming out party. Tyler scored the first goal of the game for either team, and Egan (a defensive player) notched his first assist of the year. Also scoring for the Hawks was Nat Hauck (1G)
3/28 Sycamore lost 14-2 0-2

On Friday, March 28th the boys lost 14-2 again, this time to Sycamore. The Hawks started off very sluggish, digging a 0-5 hole. Hunter Spencer broke the shutout with the first of his two goals on the night.

Next up they play at Indian Hill on Friday, April 4th.

4/4 @ Indian Hill lost 13-8 0-3 The boys lacrosse team played one of the most complete games in the program's history last Friday; however they fell short to a very talented Indian Hill team by a score of 13-8. Scoring for the boys were Eric Wendt 2g 1a, Blake Johnson 1g 1a, Nat Hauck 2g, John Buczek, Tyler Chalk, and Jordan Clapp. Dakota Lambing was stellar in the pipes.
4/5 Granville HS lost 6-5 0-4

The boys lacrosse team had a tough loss against Granville (Columbus) on Saturday afternoon. They started the game very slow, finding themselves in a hole 3-6 with 2 minutes left after a 2-2 halftime stalemate.


Liam Mulcahy provided 2 huge faceoff wins in those last 2 minutes. This afforded the team the opportunity to organize itself during timeouts, and score after each faceoff, managing to put 2 goal in during a span of 42 seconds. Mulcahy was able to secure the last faceoff, but the offense couldn't manage to put the tying score in the net, as time ran out on the comeback.

Next up East is at Elder on Wednesday, April 9th.

4/9 @ Elder lost 15-1 0-5

The boys lacrosse team fell to Elder on Wednesday by a score of 15-1. Bright spots on the night were the return of Alex Wenzel, and the play of Liam Mulcahy.

Next up East travels to Dayton Wayne on Saturday.

4/12 @ Anthony Wayne won 11-7 1-5

The boys lacrosse team traveled to Toledo on Saturday afternoon to take on Anthony Wayne High School, and defeated the Generals 11-7. See results below:

The Hawks dug themselves into a 0-3 hole early, but the scoring drought was broken by a Tyler Chalk pass to Nat Hauck. From there the Hawks clawed back to make it 3-3 with goals by Chalk (unassisted) and by Hauck (Eric Wendt). Once the team settled in, they outscored the Generals 8-4.


Dakota Lambing had 10 saves in the winning effort.

4/16 Oakwood won 17-3 2-6

The boys lacrosse completely dominated Oakwood last Wednesday night defeating the Lumberjacks 17-3. Leading the charge for the Hawks on offense were: Nat Hauck (3G), Jake Schwarz (3A), Eric Wendt (3G, 2A), Jordan Clapp (2G). Also scoring were Josh Kloenne, Austin Blair, Tyler Chalk, Alex Wenzel, Alec Theriault and Blake Johnson.

The offense possessed the ball for over 38 of the 48 minutes played in the game, and as a result, the defense saw very little action. The Man-Down team played exceptionally well, only allowing 1 scoring opportunity. Dakota Lambing stopped 75% of the shots he faced. Huner Spence also contributed 3 goals and 1 assist.

The team effort ties the biggest scoring output in school history, along with the biggest win differential.

4/19 @ Summit CD won 7-6 OT 3-6

On Saturday, the boys lacrosse team faced Summit Country Day. The team started very slow and flat. The Hawks found themselves in a 4-0 hole to begin the game, until Eric Wendt found the back of the net with 2:55 to go in the 2nd quarter. Another 6 minute drought followed, until Joe Podnar (in his first game back since injuring his leg) was able to score.


Trailing in the 4th quarter by a 6-2, things didn't look good for East. A few great hustle plays by Alex Wenzel, Josh Kloenne, and Cameron Baert woke the Thunderhawks up. With 8:41 left in the 4th Alec Theriault (assisted by Jake Schwarz) scored his second goal of the season, to pull the boys within 3. Less than a minute later, Tyler Chalk scored his first of two consecutive goals (in a two minute stretch, the second assisted by Jake Schwarz) to get the Hawks within in a goal. Alec Theriault's second goal of the game (assisted by Blake Johnson) tallied the tying goal.


The next three minutes were uneventful, and just before regulation ended, a questionable penalty was called on Jordan Clapp. With 15 seconds in regulation, the Hawks were able to force overtime.
In the overtime, the boys were able to kill the man down disadvantage, as well as take advantage of back to back Summit penalties to secure their own man up advantage, as Jordan Clapp was able to find an open Eric Wendt for the clinching goal to end the overtime and the game. The final score was 7-6.


This is the first overtime victory in Lakota East Lacrosse history, and also the first time they have been able to defeat the Silver Knights. Next up East will host Mason on Wednesday, April 23rd.

4/23 Mason lost 17-4 3-7

The 3 game winning streak that the East Boys Lacrosse team was enjoying was snapped on Wednesday night against a very talented Mason team. The final score was 17-4. Dakota Lambing hung tough in the pipes during an onslaught of 34 shots on goal and Alex Wenzel's effort on defense kept the Hawks competitive.

Next up East will visit Fairfield on Friday, April 25th. The team will host Oak Hills on Saturday.

4/25 @ Fairfield won 15-6 4-7

On Friday night the boys traveled to Fairfield to face the Indians. They started out fast and furious, tallying the first 5 goals and never looking back. The Final score was 15-6. The Hawks dominated possession, having control of the ball for over 30 out of 48 minutes. See results below:

4/26 Oak Hills won 13-5 5-7

After another shaky 1st half start, the boys lacrosse team poured it on in the 2nd half vs GMC rival, Oak Hills. The Hawks were trailing at halftime 4-3, but a 10-1 second half secured a 13-5 victory for East. Stellar defensive play by Egan Baber helped lead the Thunderhawks past the Highlanders.

Scoring was spread out, as 8 players scored. They were:

4/30 Kings won 8-2 6-7

The boys lax team handled Kings 8–2 on Wednesday night. Dakot Lambing was stellar and goal, recording 13 saves on 15 shots on goal. The offense played as a team most of the night, with every goal except for one being assisted. The Hawks held a 60 lead at halftime, but the Knights adjusted, as the two teams split in the second half. Scores on the night were, Eric Wendt, Blake Johnson, Nat Hauck, John Buczek, Jordan Clapp, and Joe Podnar.

Next East will host Loveland on Friday, May 2nd and host Lasalle on Saturday, May 3.

           
5/3 LaSalle won 14-1 7-7

The boys lacrosse team faced the La Salle Lancers on Saturday afternoon at East. The Thuderhawks dominated the game from the initial faceoff, jumping out to a 4-0 lead in the first quarter, followed by 6 more goals in the second quarter to make it 10-0 at the half. It was 14-0 with East getting everyone on the field before the Lancers managed to stop the Hawks shutout. Dakota Lambing had another great game, recording 8 saves and giving up only 1 before being relieved by Tore Phillips.

5/5 Loveland lost 17-3 7-8

The ups and downs of the boys' lacrosse season continued on Monday night, as their 4 game win streak was snapped against Loveland. The final score was 17-3 Scoring for the boys were John Buczek, Jordan Clapp, and Alec Theriault.

The boys hope to rebound Wednesday at home vs. Springboro.

5/7 Springboro won 8-7 OT 8-8

The boys lacrosse team notched it's second overtime victory of the season, and its 8th of the season with a thrilling 8-7 win over Springboro last Wednesday. The Hawks jumped out to a quick 4-1 lead, but the Panthers battled back and the game was within one goal for the duration. Dakota Lambing has 15 saves, and easily the most stellar game of his career thus far. In the 4th period he stopped several point blank shots to keep East afloat. The clinching goal was scored on with the Extra Man unit on the field, as Hunter Spencer found John Buczek for the winning tally. Liam Mulcahy dominated Springboro on faceoffs, winning 14 of 18 draws.

Cameron Baert has set the school record for ground ball in a season, breaking Alex Wenzel's previous best of 61. Cameron has 62 now with three games remaining.

Special program note....

Kyle Lee (Class of 2013 & the single season scoring leader for the Boys Lacrosse Team) was named team MVP for the Herkimer Generals this year. As a Freshman, Kyle led his team in scoring with 31 goals and 6 assists, as the Generals posted a 5-6 record this season. In addition to being named team MVP, Kyle was runner-up for the Mountain Valley Conference player of the year. Congratulations Kyle!

5/9 @ Centerville won 12-3 9-8

 

5/14 Walnut Hills (senior night) won 12-3 9-8

The Boys lacrosse team hosted Walnut Hills for Senior night on Thursday. The team played one of their most disciplined games on the offensive side of the ball assaulting Walnut Hills stellar goaltender with 34 shots on goal. The final score was 12–3 in favor of the Hawks.


Scorers for East were Eric Wendt, John Buczek, Blake Johnson, Cameron Baert, Tyler Chalk, Hunter Spencer, and Nat Hauck.

The regular season finale is Saturday vs. district rival Lakota West, 5:00 PM. Come out and support the boys as they battle the Firebirds for distrrict bragging rights!

5/17 Lakota West lost 14-2 9-9

The boys lacrosse team lost to West in a very lackluster performance.
The final score was 14-2. Scorers on the night were Blake Johnson and Cameron Baert with the only goals for the Hawks.

East will face Moeller in the first round of the State Playoffs on Thursday at 6pm at Moeller. The winner of that game will host the winner of Springboro/Sycamore this Saturday evening.

The Boys Lacrosse team fell in the first round of the Regional last night to Moeller by a score of 19-5. The Hawks end their season ast 9-10 overall.

The score wasn't indicative of the effort that was put on the field during the game. Second-team all region goalie Dakota Lambing had a season-high 17 saves during the game.
Scorers were, Alec Theriault, Alex Wenzel, John Buczek, Eric Wendt, and Blake Johnson.

Several of the seniors will be sorely missed next season, as the Hawks graduate 14. However, the leading scorers for the team, Nat Hauck and Eric Wendt, return to lead the Hawks into battle.

On Monday, March 24, 2014 the Lakota East Women’s Lacrosse team defeated the McAuley Mohawks by a score of 12 to 5 at Lakota East High School.

3/27 Centerville won 5-2 2-1 On Thursday March 27, 2014 the Lakota East Women’s Lacrosse team lost a tough match to the Centerville Elks by a score of 5-2.  Freshman Attacker Hanna Sylla scored the only 2 goals for the Thunderhawks.  Junior Alyson Jones had an assist.  Freshman goalie Marissa Lombardi saved 8 of 13 shots on goal.
3/29 St. Charles lost 7-6 2-2

On Saturday, March 29 the Lakota East Thunderhawk Women’s Varsity Lacrosse team lost a close game to St. Charles, IL by a score of 7-6.  The game was played in a steady rain at near freezing temperatures.  Junior goalie Abbie Clasgens had 3 saves.

Next up the Lady Hawks host Miamisburg on Tuesday, April 8th.

4/8 Miamisburg won 20-0 3-2

Lakota East had a solid all around performance beating Miamisburg 20-0 on Tuesday night. In total East had 7 different players scoring a goal and had 10 assists on the 20 goals. The girls controlled the game by claiming 15 draw controls of the game and only committing 7 total team turnovers.

East will host Lebanon on Thursday, April 10th.

4/10 Lebanon won 16-3 4-2

Lakota East had a slow start against Lebanon on Thursday night with some sloppy play and poor shot selections. After cleaning up their act they moved on to improve their record to 5-2 with a 16-3 defeat against Lebanon.

It was a great team effort with 7 different people scoring; Lissy Costa recorded her first career Varsity goal and Emma Quinlisk lead the way with 5 points on 3 goals and 2 assists along with 6 Draw Controls.

Next up East will visit St. Ursula on Tuesday, April 15th.

4/15 @ St. Ursula won   5-2 Next up East will visit Loveland on Thursday.
4/17 @ Loveland lost 12-8 5-3

The Lakota East girls lacrosse suffered there third loss of the season bringing their record to 5-3.The team was down early at 5-1 but stayed strong and fought back to bring it to 8-6 before the final score of 12-8. The Thunderhawks were lead by Aly Jones who tallied an all around complete game with 3 goals, 1 assist, 2 GB's, 2 DC's, and only 1 TO.

Next up East will host Walnut Hills on Tuesday, April 22nd.

The Lakota East girls lacrosse suffered there third loss of the season on Tuesday to visiting Walnut Hills by a score of 12-8. The team was down early at 5-1 but stayed strong and fought back to bring it to 8-6 before the final score of 12-8. The Thunderhawks were lead by Aly Jones who tallied an all around complete game with 3 goals, 1 assist, 2 GB's, 2 DC's, and only 1 TO.

4/24 @ Lakota West lost 18-8 5-4

On Friday night the boys traveled to Fairfield to face the Indians. They started out fast and furious, tallying the first 5 goals and never looking back. The Final score was 15-6. The Hawks dominated possession, having control of the ball for over 30 out of 48 minutes. See results below:

5/1 Ursuline       Next up East will visit Springboro on Saturday, May 3rd.
5/3 @ Springboro lost 16-10 5-5

Lost 10-16. We were down 13-5 at half and only let in 3 goals in the entire second half. Hanna Sylla, freshman lead the way with 5 goals. Another freshman, Emily Polivick, added 2 goals as well. Katie Dean, a sophomore, added two goals as well.

East takes on Mother of Mercy at home on Tuesday, May 6th. They open post season play at home on Monday, May 12th vs. Centerville.

5/6 Mother of Mercy lost 14-9 5-6

East fell to Mother of Mercy 14-9 on Tuesday. The Hawks scored the first two goals of the game and took a 2-0 lead within the first two minutes of the game. Mercy responded with a rally. Close at halftime, I think we were only losing by 1. They came out of halftime with a rally and we couldn't stop the bleeding.

Next up East will play its final regular season contest at home vs. Miami Valley on Thursday, May 8th. East will host Centerville on Monday May 12th in the first round of their post season tourney.

5/8 Miami Valley won 15-1 6-6

It was Senior Night for the Lakota East Thunderhawks girls lacrosse on their regular season finale last night. There are 4 seniors on the team and Senior Captain Kellyn McNally lead the way with a career best 4 goals while fellow seniors Courtney Niese and Lissy Costa each added a goal as well. Senior Captain Meagan Armstrong anchored down the defense allowing only 1 goal the entire game while the team won 15-1 against Miami Valley.

6-7 The girls lacrosse 2014 season came to end on Monday with a 10-9 loss to Centerville in the first round of the Regional Tourney. East finishes with an overall record of 6-7.
