11/30 Wilmington won 78-72 1-0 0-0

The boys basketball team held off a Wilmington late game come back effert to win their season opener 78-72 last Saturday night at the Hawks Nest. East led by as many as 17 points in the first half. Wilmington cut the Hawk lead to 5 before running out of time.

East was led by four players scoring in double figures: Dylan Lowry (22), Mitchell Mays (15), Alex White (15), and Andrew Emrick (12). It was Emrick's basket late in the game that helped the Hawks go on to a win. White scored a double-double on the night also collecting 14 rebounds. Lowry dished out 8 assists.

The Thunderhawks are back in action on Tuesday at Western Hills.

12/3 @ Western Hills won 71-42 2-0 0-0

The East Boys Basketball team made it two in a row to start their season with a 71-42 win at Western Hills last night. Dylan Lowry scored a career best 25 points while Alex White added 16. Chris Blount came off the bench to add 14.

East will host Oak Hills in their GMC opener this Friday, December 6th.

 
12/6 Oak Hills         Last Friday's home game versus Oak Hills was cancelled due to weather. Makeup is scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17th. Next up East will visit Mason on Tuesday, Dec. 10th.  
12/10 @ Mason lost 60-51 2-1 0-1

The Hawks fell at Mason on Tuesday night by a score of 60-51. East fell behind early and played "catch up" the entire game. The Hawks fell into some foul trouble and trailed at the half 34-19. East outscored the Comets 32-26 in the second half but still fell short.

Mitchell May led East with 20 points. Alex White snarred 8 rebounds and contributed 10 points. Dylan Lowry had 12 points.

The Hawks will look back on track this Friday when they host Sycamore.

 
12/13 Sycamore won 63-57 3-1 1-1

The Thunderhawks knocked off a pesky Sycamore squad on Friday by a score of 63-57. East led 29-22 at the half. Dylan Lowry poured in 25 points while Mitchell Mays added 10..Alex White grabbed 10 rebounds and scored 9.

Next up the team plays at Lakota West this Friday.

 
12/17 Oak Hills won 52-32 4-1 2-1

The boy's basketball team produced a solid win over Oak Hills on Tuesday night by a score of 52-32. The Hawks established a 33-20 lead at half time and never looked back.

East got very balanced scoring from their offense. Mitchell May led the team with 13 points (4 trays), Chris Blount added 12, Dylan Lowry 11 and Alex White 10 (9 rebounds).

The Hawks record goes to 4-1 on the season and will visit District rival Lakota West on Friday. Upcoming games over break include:

--Satuday, Dec. 21st at home vs. Winton Woods

--Dec. 26-Dec. 28th Commodore Holiday Tournament at Perry Central HS in Hazard, Kentucky.

 

 
12/20 @ Lakota West lost 45-43 4-2 2-2

The Thunderhawks fell to the Firebirds in round one of the Battle of Lakota last Friday night. West rallied from behind in the fourth quarter to grab the win 45-43. East led by four entering the fourth and pushed the lead to 39-32 on a 3-pointer by Mays. That’s when West went on an 8-0 run to retake the lead.West controlled much of the first half after a fast start by Lakota East and led 23-19 at the break.

East had three players in double figures; Mitchell Mays 13, Alex White 13 and Dylan Lowry 12. White pulled down 18 rebounds in the contest.

 
12/21 Winton Woods won 54-53 5-2 2-2

After a difficult loss on Friday night, East rebounded with a thriling 54-53 win over visiting Winton Woods.

East is 5-2 overall on the season and will play Dec. 26-Dec. 28th in the Commodore Holiday Tournament at Perry Central HS in Hazard, Kentucky.

won 56-48 6-4 2-2 The Thunderhawks closed out the tourney with a 56-48 win against Harlan County on Saturday.  
1/3 @ Hamilton won 59-59 7-4 3-2

East got back on their winning ways last Friday when they defeated Hamilton 59-58. The Thunderhawks earned the road victory over Big Blue when junior guard Dylan Lowry scored his only points of the game on a 10-foot runner with 2.2 seconds remaining, giving East the win.

Hamilton missed the front end of the bonus three times in the last 2:18 and twice in the final 23.9 seconds. The misfire with 10.6 on the clock was followed by Lowry’s heroics. Lowry drove to the left of the lane and banked in the off-balance shot that gave Hamilton its fourth loss by three points or less since Dec. 17.


Alex White had 13 points and seven rebounds and Ryan Middendorf added 10 points in his varsity debut for East, which is 7-4 overall and 3-2 in the Greater Miami Conference.

 
1/10 Colerain won 69-57 8-4 4-2

The Thunderhawks made it three wins in a row with a 69-57 victory over Colerain last Friday night. East took substantial early leads and then held off the Cardinals in the fourth quarter to earn their 8th win on the season.

Junior Alex White had a strong offensive and defensive effort, scoring 24 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Mitchell Mays and Dylan Lowry contributed 13 and 10 points respectively. Lowry dished out 6 assists to his teammates on the evening.

Next up East will look for some crosstown revenge when they host the Firebirds in a makeup game on Tuesday at the Hawks Nest.

Hawks Defeat Firebirds!

The Lakota East Thunderhawks exacted some revenge on their District counterparts Tuesday night, defeating the Firebirds 72-68 in one of the more intense meetings between the two rivals. West won the first game of the series in December with a late come-from-behind win.

East led most of the game, building a lead as large as 11 at one point, but also fended off several Firebird comeback attempts. East sophomore forward Andrew Emrick’s left-handed putback of a missed jumper gave the Thunderhawks a 60-57 lead with 3:13 left in the game. West, the No. 4 team in The Enquirer’s Division I coaches’ poll, tied the game, 61-61, with 1:34 left on a 15-foot jumper by senior guard Tyler Williams.

East junior guard Dylan Lowery responded with a driving layup and free throw to give the Thunderhawks (9-4, 5-2), ranked No. 7 in The Enquirer coaches’ poll, a 64-61 lead with 1:12 remaining. Alex White added a 10-foot jumper from the right baseline, while his teammates were sinking 6 of 8 free throws in the final 1:02 to lead by as many as six points. White, who played the last 6:02 with four fouls, but scored four points – two on a tip-in – and grabbed two key defensive rebounds in the final 28 seconds. He led East scorers with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Mitchell Mays hot shooting contributed 4 trays for 18 while Lowry added 17 and 7 assists to his teammates.

The Hawks go back on the road to Princeton this Friday night. They will play a game against Dayton Chaminade in the annual Flyin' to the Hoop Showcase on Saturday, Jan. 18th at Fairmont's Trent Arena at 3:15 PM.

 

 
1/17 @ Princeton won 65-41 10-4 6-2

The Thunderhawks defeated Princeton last Friday by a score of 65-41. East never trailed in the game after the first quarter. A key to the contest was 88% free throw shooting (22-25). Dylan Lowry led East with 15 points. Alex White added and Chris Blount 9. The East defense held the Vikings to just 36% from the field.

(Flyin to the Hoop)

won 57-37 11-4 6-2

Lakota East smashed Chaminade Julienne on Saturday at the annual Flyin to the Hoop Showcase. Final score East 57 and Chaminade 37. The Hawks built a solid 12 point lead at the half and never looked back. Once again the East defense limited Chaminade to just 32% from the field, while shooting 57% themselves. Mitchel Mays led East with 13 points while Alex White added 10. Dylan Lowry dished out 9 assists to his teammates.

Next up East will host Mason on Friday, January 24th.

 
1/24 Mason lost 59-46 11-5 6-3

East dropped two recent GMC contests. On Friday they fell to Mason by a score of 59-46. Last night the Thunderhawks stumbled against Hamilton by a score of 61-51. East record falls to 11-6 overall and 6-4 in the GMC.

Next up they visit league leader Middletown on Friday, January 31st.

1/31 @ Middletown won 65-61 12-6 7-4

UPSET!

The East boy's basketball team shrugged off two consecutive losses on Friday with a 65-61 upset win against league leader Middletown. The victory was even more impressie occuring on the Middies on own floor.

Alex White put up 19 points and 12 rebounds for the Thunderhawks, while Dylan Lowry scored 14 points and Chris Bates chipped in nine.
East improved to 12-6 overall and 7-4 in the GMC. The Middies (11-6, 7-3), losers of three straight, are now tied with Fairfield on top of the conference.

East led most of the night and moved ahead for good (47-45) on White’s stickback with 4:39 remaining. He was a game-changer on the offensive glass. Still, the Thunderhawks got clutch efforts from just about everybody in a black uniform.

East (12-6, 7-4) will host Fairfield tonight at the Hawks Nest. The Indians are currently tied with Middletown for 1st place in the GMC with a record of 8-3. The Lakota East vs. Sycamore contest originally scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 4th has been moved to Saturday, Feb. 8th at Sycamore.

East's home game against Wayne HS has been cancelled and will not be madeup.

 

 
               
2/7 Fairfield lost 55-36 12-7 7-5

East boy's played two games over this past weekend. On Friday they dropped a GMC decision to Fairfield by a score of 55-36. Dylan Lowry and Alex White led the Hawks with 13 and 12 points.

On Saturday East rebounced with a 79-45 rout against Sycamore. Junior Alex White had a career high 31 points also notching a double-double with 13 carooms. Dylan Lowry scored 12 points and dished out 5 assists.

Next up East (13-7) will visit Oak Hills this Friday in the last regular season contest. The Hawks are the #8 seed in the upcoming Sectional Tournament. They will play a first round game against Loveland on Friday, Feb. 21st at Lakota West at 7:30 PM.

 
2/8 @ Sycamore won 79-45 13-7 8-5    
2/14 @ Oak Hills won 56-49 14-7 9-5
East (14-7) defeated Oak Hills last Saturday night by a score of 56-49.  This completes the boy's regular season schedule.  The Thunderhawks finished 9-5 in the GMC (4th overall).  

The Hawks are the #8 seed in the upcoming Sectional Tournament. They will play a first round game against Loveland (#26 seed) on Friday, Feb. 21st at Lakota West at 7:30 PM.  Presale student tickets are available in the athletic office during normal business hours at $6 each ($7 at gate).  Come out and support the HAWKS!

Lakota East advanced in the post season with a 60-40 defeat of Loveland in the Sectional tourney last Friday. The victory moves the Thunderhawks overall record to 15-7. Alex White came alive in the third quarter to lead East.

Next up Lakota East will play Little Miami (7-11)i in round two of the sectional. That contest is set for Tuesday, February 25th at Lakota West at 7:30 pm. The winner advances to the Sectional Final this Friday, against the Moeller-Western Hills at the Cintas Center.(7:00 pm).

EAST ADVANCES TO SECTIONAL FINAL!

The Lakota East Boy's Basketball team advanced in the post season sectional on Tuesday with a 75-43 romp over Little Miami. The Panthers were clearly overmatched against the Thunderhawks. Dylan Lowry led East with a game high 25 points.

East will meet No. 1 ranked Moeller in the Sectional Final this Friday, 7:00 pm at the Cintas Center. The winner advances to next weeks District Championships.

The Lakota East Girls Basketball opened their 2013-14 season on Saturday defeating a fundamentally sound Mercy team 63-54. New head coach Larry Sykes earns his first career coaching victory. Leading scorers for the Lady Thunderhawks were Lizzie Panzeca with 13 pts and 5 rebs. And Sam Rodgers who netted 12 pts, 3 rebs and 1 assist.

East travelsl to Dayton Carroll on Tuesday, November 26th.

 
11/26 @ Carroll won 63-53 2-0 0-0 The Lady Hawks made in two wins in a row when they defeated Dayton Carroll last Tuesday 63-53. Erin White led all scorers with 16 pts and 9 rebs.  
11/30 @ Eaton lost 53-47 2-1 0-0

The youthful Thunderhawks turned in a scrappy performance Saturday afternoon at Eaton before falling 53-47, with the Eagles scoring the game’s final seven points in the last 39 seconds. It was East's first loss of the young season.

Lizzie Panzeca marked nine points for the Thunderhawks (2-1). Erin White, East’s lone senior, added eight. Panzeca scored from short range to push East ahead 47-46 with 56.2 seconds left, but Autumn Whirley’s driving layup with 39.0 on the clock gave Eaton the lead for good.

The Eagles hit 5 of 6 free throws from there, improving to 3-0 and beating the Thunderhawks for the second straight year.

The Lady Hawks host Hamilton at home on Wednesday, Dec. 4th.

 
12/4 Hamilton won 50-43 3-1 1-0

Girls basketball held on last Wednesday for a win against a scrappy Hamilton team 50-43. The Lady Hawks struggled from the field only shooting 32% for the game, but a strong defensive showing forced Hamilton into 19 turnovers for the game. Lady Hawks were led by Kandace Satterwhite with 13 pts and Nia Thomas who added 11 pts.

The Lady Hawks (3-1)are back on the road next Wednesday, when they face Mason.

 
12/11 @ Mason lost 53-31 3-2 1-1

Lady Hawks suffered a tough loss on the road to a solid Mason team on Wednesday by a score of 53-31. East led by a point at the half but struggled offensively in the final 16 minutes. No East player scored in double figures.

The Lady Hawks look to rebound from this lost as they prepare for their matchup against Sycamore this Saturday.

 

 
12/14 Sycamore won 39-29 4-2 2-1

The Lady Hawks got back to their winning ways on Saturday with a win over Sycamore by a score of 39-29. East built a 26-10 lead at the half and held off the Aves fourth quarter comeback to get the teams 4th win of the young season.

Kim Blomer led East with 9 points. Tristan Philpot added 7. Sam Rodger dished out 4 assists. The Hawks are 4-2 on the year.

Next up they visit crosstown rival Lakota West on Wednesday, Dec. 18th.

 
12/18 @ Lakota West lost 70-38 4-3 2-2 The Lady Hawks (4-3) fell to West on Wednesday by a score of 70-38. There were not many highlights in the loss. Nia Thomas led East with 11 points. The team will look to rebound on Saturday when they host Winton Woods.  
12/21 Winton Woods lost 53-41 4-4 2-2

East fell to Winton Woods in a non-conferene affair on Saturday Dec. 21st by a score of 53-41. No East player found double figures on the day. Sam Rodgers collected 7 rebounds. The Lady Hawks kept the game close for most of the second half, but a late surge by Winton Woods in the closing minutes of the game sealed the deal.

East is 4-4 on the season. Next up East will host Mount Notre Dame on Thursday, January 2nd. They will host Mason on Saturday, January 4th.

1/4 Mason lost 48-35 4-5 2-3 The Lady Hawks fell to top rated Mason 48-35 last Saturday. East stayed with the Comets for three quarters, but a 22-10 Mason advantage in the 2nd quarter was the difference. Junior Kandace Satterwhite led all Lakota East scorers with 10pts.  
1/8 Oak Hills won 46-42 5-5 3-3

The East Girls Basketball team defeated Oak Hills 46-42 last Wednesday night. Leading the charge was Sam Rodgers with 13pts, 9 of those from behind the ard. Alecia Catron also had three 3 pointers for 9pts. The

Lady Hawks are back in action Saturday when they travel to Hamilton.

 
1/11 @ Hamilton won 47-29 6-5 4-3

The Lady Hawks defeated Hamilton 47-29 on Saturday. Kandance Satterwhite led the way with 13 points. The Lady Hawks were perfect from the free throw line shooting 14/14.

The girl's host Oak Hills this Thursday night.

 
1/16 @ Oak Hills won 47-41 7-5 5-3
The girl's basketball team defeated Oak Hills on Thursday night by a score of 47-41.  Erin White led all scorers with 12 points and added 5 rebounds.

The Lady Hawks travel to Berlin, OH this weekend to play in the Classic in the Country.  They will face Upper Arlington on Sunday with a noon tip.  Click here for more info about the event.
 
1/19 @ Upper Arlington lost 55-46 7-6 5-3

The girls basketball team suffered a tough loss to Upper Arlington 55-46 at the annual Classic in the Country this past Sunday. The Lady Hawks led Upper Arlington entering the second half, but a late run by the Golden Bears showed to be the difference in the end. Kandance Satterwhite led the Lady Hawks with 11 points.

Next game is Wednesday, January 22nd when they travel to Princeton.

 
1/22 @ Princeton lost 79-45 7-7 5-4

East girls fell to powerhouse Princeton on Wednesday by a score of 79-45. Just as every other team does, the Hawks struggled to limit Viking standout, Kelsey Mitchell, who finished with 27 point.

Kandace Satterwhite led the East offense with 11 points. Lizzie Panzeca grabbed 8 rebounds. Next up East hosts Colerain on Saturday.

1/29 @ Sycamore lost 43-55 7-8 5-5 Girls basketball lost to Sycamore on Wednesday by a score of 43-35. The Aviators made 22 free throws for the difference in the contest. The Lady Hawks couldn't bounce back from a ten point deficit at the half. Lizzie Panzeca finished the night with 12pts and 4 rebs.  
1/30 Colerain (makeup) won 52-38 8-8 6-5

Lady Hawk basketball bounced back Thursday night with a strong 52-38 win against a solid Colerain team. Colerain entered the contest at 11-5, but the Hawks jumped out early and never looked back. Alecia Carton led Lakota with 11 pts.

East (8-8, 6-5) will travel to Middletown Saturday with a 2pm tipoff.

 
2/1 @ Middletown won 62-52 9-8 7-5

Girls basketball defeated Middletown 62-52 last Saturday. Kandance Satterwhite's 17 points and Erin White recording a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds led the Lady Hawks.

East host West in part 2 of their seasonal showdown this Wednesday at the Hawks Nest. The Firebirds won the first meeting back on Dec. 18th 70-38.

 
2/5 Lakota West lost 47-64 9-9 7-6

The Lady Hawks fell to West by a score of 64-47 on Wednesday. Kandance Satterwhite was the leading scorer for the Thunderhawks with 13 points. The girls look to finish out the regular season on Senior Night this Saturday against Fairfield.

Lady Hawks end the regular season with a 48-43 victory over Fairfield. Kandance Satterwhite led the charge with 11pts and Sam Rodgers and Lizzie Panzeca both added 10pts in route to the win.

In the upcoming Southwest Sectional, East (#16 seed) will play Withrow (#14 seed) in the first round at Kings on Saturday, Feb. 15th at 3:30 PM.

The gymnastics team placed 7th at the Southwest Ohio District
Championships on Saturday with a 126.85. The top two teams (Centerville and Mason) and the top six individuals in each event including all around qualify to represent the Southwest District at the State Meet which will be held February 28 and March 1 at Hilliard Bradley HIgh School in Columbus.

The OHSAA SW Distritct Diving Championships are Feb. 12th and 13th at Miami University. The District Swimming Championships are scheduled for next Friday and Saturday also at Miami University. The District Tournament will automatically qualify two (2) in each swimming event to the State Meet, with sixteen (16) at large qualifiers that will be selected on the basis of times recorded in the District Meet. 12/5 @ Lakota West lost 39-33  

It was a comeback for the ages for the Lakota East Thunderhawk Mat Men during their epic battle vs crosstown rival Lakota West last Thursday night. East fell just short losing the last bout of the night giving the Firebirds a 39-33 victory to claim their first win in 3 yrs over the East Thunderhawks.

After dropping the first 6 matches of the night and falling behind 33-0, the wrestlilng Hawks went on a pinning terror winning the next 6 bouts, 5 of which came by pin.  Winners were Daniel Roth (106), Sam Roth (113), Austin Schoeffler (120), Deonte Evans (126), Christian Nickolis (Hwy) all winners by Fall, and Oseji Azuka (195) winner by major dec.

Next up is the Fairmont HS Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 14th.

12/21-12/22 @ Glen Sample Classic (Harrison HS)      

The Thunderhawk matmen placed 13th out of 41 teams at the SWOWCA Glen Sample Classic Dec. 21-22. The event was made up of teams from Cincinnati, Columbus, Dayton, and Northern Kentucky. It was an outstanding performance by many East wrestlers that are making their first marks at the varsity level.

Placing in the top 6 for East was Deante Evans (Junior, 126 lbs.) 5th place, Sam Roth (Sophomore, 113 lbs.) 6th place, Austin Schoeffler (Senior, 120 lbs.) 6th place, and Daniel Roth (Junior, 106 lbs.) 2nd place. This was the first SWOWCA placement for 3 of these 4 wrestlers. Daniel Roth was 5th in 2012.

12/29-12/30 @ Brecksville Invite      

The Thunderhawk Matmen competed in the very prestigious Brecksville Holiday Invitational in Cleveland this past weekend. East finished 23rd out of 47 teams.

Two Thunderhawks placed in the top 8 in their respective weight classes: Daniel Roth (junior, 106 lbs.) and Oseji Azuka (junior, 195 lbs.). Both placed 8th. East competed with 11 of their 14 wrestlers. All the wrestlers were very competitive with 5 making it to the 2nd day of competition and almost placing in the top 8. Those wrestlers included Sam Roth (sophomore, 113 lbs.), Kolton Wagner (senior, 145 lbs.), and Ryan Durham (junior, 220 lbs.).

1/10-1/11 @ Fairfield Invite      

The Thunderhawk Matmen placed 3rd out of 17 teams this past weekend in the Fairfield Invitational. East fell only to Harrison and Campbell County, KY. East placed 9 out of 13 wrestlers competing in the top 6. This is the most placers that East has ever had at this event.

Placing for East were: Daniel Roth (junior, 106) 2nd, Sam Roth (sophomore, 113) 2nd, Austin Schoeffler (senior, 120 lbs.) 3rd, Deante Evans (junior, 126 lbs.) 1st, Nick Frank (junior, 138 lbs.) 5th, Anthony Palacio (senior, 170 lbs.) 5th, Justin Unser-Baumann (senior, 182 lbs.) 6th, Oseji Azuka (junior, 195 lbs.) 4th, and Ryan Durham (junior, 220 lbs.) 3rd. Deante Evans earned his 2nd tournament championship this season and has placed at all tournaments that he has competed in. In the finals, he defeated last year’s District 6th place finisher (Quinn May-Lebanon).

Next up is a super tri-meet with Harrison, Ross and Sycamore this Friday night.

      The Lakota East Thunderhawk Wrestling team competed in their annual Super Tri match this Past Friday dropping two matches to a Sycamore Aviator team and The Harrison Wildcats. Both matches were competitive and back and forth. Undefeated wrestlers on the day were Daniel Roth 106lbs 2-0, Sam Roth 113lbs 2-0, Austin Schoeffler 120lbs and Deonte Evans 126lbs 2-0.. Other winners on the day were Nick Frank 138lbs, Eric Day 145lbs, Osegi Asuka 195lbs and Ryan Durham 220lbs.
1/18 Fairfield       Next up for the wresting team is the State Duals on Wednesday, Jan. 22nd and 29th.
1/22 State Duals Quarter Finals      

On Wednesday East Thunderhawk wrestling dropped a 39-21 match to the 5th seeded Fairfield Indians in the quarterfinals of the Ohio State Duals Regional championships. Winners on the day were:

The Lakota East Thunderhawk wrestling Team finished 5th in the 2014 Greater Miami Conference Championships on Saturday. The Thunderhawk Matmen had 5 league placers, and 7 others scoring points for the team.

Nine Hawk Grapplers Qualify for District!

The Thunderhawk Matmen placed 4th in a very competitive Sectional Tournament this past weekend. They were behind Centerville, Springboro, and Fairmont.  The Hawks entered 13 wrestlers in the event and came home with 9 District Qualfiers.  The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class advance to the District Championships.

East had 5 of the 9 qualifiers in the championship finals competing for 1st place.  Daniel Roth (junior, 106 lbs.) captured his first Sectional Championship.  Sam Roth (sophomore, 113 lbs.), Deante Evans (junior, 126 lbs.), Anthony Palacio (senior, 170 lbs.), and Ryan Durham (junior, 220 lbs.) all lost extremely close and competitive finals matches to finish in 2nd place.  

Other qualifiers included:  Austin Schoeffler (senior, 120 lbs.) 3rd place, Nirpaul Sandhu (senior, 160 lbs.) 4th place, Justin Unser-Baumann (senior, 182 lbs.) 4th place, Oseji Azuka (junior, 195 lbs.) 4th place.  Also, placing for East was Nick Frank 6th, Eric Day 6th, and Jon Spaulding 6th.

The 9 qualifiers will be competing at the District Championships at Kettering Fairmont H.S. (Trent Arena) this coming Friday and Saturday.  The top 4 wrestlers in each weight class qualify for the State Championships the following weekend.

2/21-2/22 District Championships      

Roth Duo Headed to State!

The East Thunderhawk Matmen placed 10th at the District Championships this past weekend. The top 4 place winners qualify for the State Championships this coming Thursday-Saturday at the Jerome Shottenstein Center (Value City Arena) on the campus of Ohio State University.

Daniel Roth (junior, 106 lbs.) qualified for his second State Tournament by placing 2nd at Districts. Younger brother, Sam Roth (sophomore, 113 lbs.) qualified for his first state tournament by placing 4th in the District. Both boys lost very hard fought 1 pt. matches in the championship finals.

Anthony Palacio (senior, 170 lbs.) battled back from a first round defeat in incredible fashion to place 6th in the District. Deante Evans (junior, 126 lbs.) and Ryan Durham (junior, 220 lbs.)_ were just 1 win (actually 1 pt.) away from placing in the top 6.

2/27-3/1 State Championships @ OSU      

The State Wrestling Tournament is underway in Columbus. See results below:

Daniel Roth (106) lost a close 7-4 match to Jarod Bronstrup of Brecksville in the first round. His brother Sam Roth (113) fell to a pin at 3:38 in his first round match.

The Girls Bowling season got underway on Tuesday with a loss to Middletown by a score of 2327-1637. High bowler for the girls was sophomore Maria Ballard with games of 148 and 170 for a 318 series. Jessica Wall chipped in with a 151 game.

12/4 Turpin lost 1942-1743 0-2 0-1

Girls lost 1942-1743 to Turpin last Wednesday. The team bowled a competitive first game and were down just 33 pins. They fell further behind in the second game and despite bowling well in the baker games they could not make up the difference. High bowler for the girls was Maria Ballard with games of 170 and 125 for a 295 series. Mary Hayes had a 139 game and Jessica Wall contributed a 136 game.

Next up East is at Mason on Monday, Dec. 9th.

12/9 @ Mason lost 2339-1790 0-3 0-2

The East girls lost 2339-1790 to Mason on Monday. Despite rolling their highest match score of the young season the girls came up short against a strong Mason squad. Maria Ballard was the high bowler for the girls with games of 171 and 158 for a 329 series. Meghan Tishy had her high series of the year with a 303 (157-146). Mary Hayes rolled a 144 game.

Next up the host Cincinnati Christian on Wednesday, Dec. 11th.

12/11 Cincinnati Christian won 1799-1723 1-3 0-2

East girls defeated Cincinnati Christian on Wednesday by a score of 1799-1723! The girls won in dramatic fashion as the match went down to the final baker game. The girls were leading by just 20 pins after the individual games. They increased the lead to 75 after the first baker game only to have CCA cut the lead to 13 pins after game 2 of the bakers. Going into the final baker the girls were leading by 36 pins, and midway through the final game the match was even. After a spare by Meghan Tishy, Maria Ballard bowled 3 strikes in the 10th to seal the match.

High bowler for the day was Jessica Wall with games of 160 and 147 for a 302 series followed closely by Maria Ballard with a 290 and Meghan Tishy with a 284.

Next up East will host Hamilton on Wednesday, Dec. 18th.

12/18 Hamilton lost 1945-1616 1-4 0-3

The East girls lost 1945-1616 to Hamilton on Wednesday. High bowler was Maria Ballard with games of 150 and 139 for a 289 series. She was followed closely by Jessica Wall with a 267 series.

 

12/19 @ Deer Park won 1780-1539 2-4 0-3

The East girls bowling team defeated Deer Park on Dec. 19th by a score of 1780-1539! Maria Ballard led the girls with games of 129 and 155 for a 284 series. She was also solid in the baker games with only 1 open through 4 games. Jessica Wall rolled games of 140 and 133.

They were led by Maria Ballard who rolled the highest series of the year for the girls with a 374 including games of 203 and 171. The 203 game was her personal high and the high for the girls team this year. She was followed by Meghan Tishy who had a 268 series. Natalie Elam also rolled her personal high with a game of 136.

The win equals the girls record at 4-4 on the season. Next up East will host Princeton on Wednesday.

The girls bowling team lost 2049-1679 to Princeton on Wednesday. High bowler for the girls was Maria Ballard with a 293 series. She was followed closely by Jessica Wall who bowled a 288 series including her personal high game of 174 eclipsing her two 172 games that she had last week.

The East girls bowling team evened their overall record at 5-5 on Wednesday with a 1641-1255 win over Wyoming. High bowler for the girls was Jessica Wall rolling a 305 series. Following closely was Maria Ballard with a 283 series.

1/24 Fairfield lost 2244-1768 5-6 0-5 The East Girls lost 2244-1768 to Fairfield last Friday. High bowler for the girls was Jessica Wall with a 312 series. Maria Ballard rolled a 302 series. Natalie Elam rolled her personal high game with a 127.

The East Girls won 1776-1612 against Sycamore on Wednesday. The Lady Hawks opened up a 68 pin lead in the individuals. It looked like Sycamore was going to make a match of it winning the first baker game but the girls pulled away in the final 3 games to win comfortably. Maria Ballard was high bowler with a 325 series including a 200 game. Ali Gehr had a 261 game with 2 consistent games.

East will bowl its final regular season match next Wednesday when they host Colerain. The Sectional tourney is scheduled for Feb. 20th at Colerain Bowl.

2/3 Oak Hills lost 2204-1668 6-7 1-5 The East Girls lost 2204-1668 against Oak Hills last Monday. The lane had not been oiled and conditions were brutal and both teams bowled under their averages. High bowler for the girls was Jessica Wall with a 262 series. The high spot for the day came from Ali Gehr as she subbed in and bowled her personal high game of 192 and earned a "Thunderhawk Towel" from the coach.

East girls lost 2482-1826 to Colerain on Wednesday. High bowler for the day was Maria Ballard with a 314 series. She was followed by Meghan Tishy and Mary Hayes both rolling 266 series.

Next up the Lady Hawks will play Badin on Friday, Feb. 7th.

2/7 Badin lost 2184-1829 6-9 1-7

The girls bowlers lost a match to Hamilton Badin on Friday by a score of 2184-1829. High bowler for the girls was Natalie Elam with a 311 series. The first game of the match she rolled her personal high with a 143 game. The next game she beat that with a 169 game. After subbing out the first game Maria Ballard came back with a 195 game.

Next up East will host Walnut Hills on Tuesday, Feb. 11th. The Hawks conclude their regular season on Wednesday with a match against Kings. Sectional Tournament play gets underway Feb. 20th at Colerain.
2/11 Walnut Hills lost 1863-1813 6-10 1-7

East girls lost 1863-1813 to Walnut Hills on Tuesday. The girls were leading after the individual games but the Eagles got hot in the baker games and passed the girls to win by just 50 pins.

High bowler for the day was Maria Ballard with a 386 series (208-178). This was her personal high game and high series. Her series was the third highest bowled by a girl at Lakota East ever. Nice Rolling! Ali Gehr had a nice day as well with a 264 series.

Next up East will play Kings in the regular season finale on Wednesday, February 12th.

2/12 Kings won 1909-1870 7-10 1-7

The East Girls Bowling Team won 1909-1870 against Kings on Wednesday. The girls bowled their highest match score of the season. With just a 24 pin lead after the individual games they bowled their best baker series as well to win an exciting match. they earned a trip to Graters from the coach with their first 1900 of the year. High bowler for the day was Maria Ballard with a 292 series. Right behind her was Mary Hayes with a 291 series , her highest of the season.

Sectional Tournament play gets underway Feb. 20th at Colerain.

        The girls came in 13th place at Wednesday Sectional tourney and did not advance to the district tournament. High bowler for the day was Maria Ballard. After a rough start on a tough oil pattern she came back to lead the girls. She missed qualifying by just 11 pins. In her final match senior Jessica Wall was just 13 pins behind and in contention for a district spot as well. The teams season comes to a close with this event.

The boys lost 1995-1743 to Turpin last Wednesday. They fell by just 252 pins despite being a bowler short and taking 0 for 2 games. Preston Paisley was high bowler with games of 214 and 175 for a 369 series. Austin Harris had a 155 game and Nick Shulock came in with a 150 game.

The Boys Bowling Team lost to Lakota West on Thursday by a score of 2589-1434. High bowler for the boys was Brandon Paisley with a 371 series including a 211 game. Austin Harris had a nice series as well coming in at 330.

High bowler for the boys was Nick Shulock with a 352 series including his personal high game of 198. Preston Paisley and Austin Harris rolled games of 189 and 182 respectively.
