I know that kind of sounds like a contradiction but it is possible to make bannock or fry bread at least a bit healthier. Again fry bread can also be replaced with whole wheat or corn meal and all natural syrup or honey.
The added sugar and salt aren’t good for you either but they can easily be replaced with all natural honey or maple syrup.


You could also blend up some fresh fruits and put it into the recipe to give it a natural and sweet flavour.
They have a lot of sodium and you can’t always be sure about what exactly is in the product.
Changing the ingredient of lard or the type of lard can help improve it’s health quality - not by a whole lot but like I said before…small changes!


Vegetable oil or vegetable based lard may have some better health qualities but always research any new product before using it!
