Once upon a time, there was a damsel in distress who was rescued by her knight in shining armor.
Following a semester spent in the land of knights, princes, and accents that alone can make a girl swoon, I returned home from London. Now let me interject that I am not bashing men, and am not saying that all men resort to horribly inappropriate verbal come-ons, or that no men are chivalrous. But in general, based on my own observations, I feel the men of my generation don’t feel the need to treat a lady like a lady. It was not until I collected my excessive, large pieces of luggage off the conveyor belt and onto the cart with zero assistance from the surrounding men, did I realize chivalrous men are an endangered species. Regardless of our expectations and rights we just want to find our knight in shining armor.
The Code of Chivalry was the code of conduct followed by the knights during the medieval period.
Sure, most girls have doors held open by men, but being chivalrous is so much more than merely holding a door for an extra second on your way out.

Yet according to common definitions, the Code of Chivalry was simply the rules and customs of medieval knights. These qualifications included virtues of courtesy, generosity and valour.Knights Code of Chivalry in Dark AgesThe Knights Code of Chivalry was prevalent during the dark ages and everyone understood what it entailed.
Always and everywhere be right and good against evil and injusticeThe Knights Code of Chivalry & Song of RolandThe Song of Roland was a document of the code of chivalry in the middle ages, especially during the period of William the conqueror who ruled England.
The song described the 8th century knights and the battles that Emperor Charlemagne fought.
Several myths were told about King Arthur and his knights which had further strengthened the idea of the code. Most of these myths revolved around the Code of Chivalry adhered to by Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table. When the Frankish clan structure was combined with that of Western Christian practices, an elite group of soldiers were conceived giving birth to the horse-bound soldiers known as knights.

Each knight was bound to a code conduct known as the Code of Chivalry. However, not all knights were able to uphold their vows to chivalry, primarily because the middle ages was highly characterized by violence, death and the feudal system.
As knighthood became more elaborate and tournaments among knights became more popular, the church began to consider these gatherings as political threats, especially with the continued unrestrained violence despite having these codes of conduct. The end of chivalryChivalry ended with the decline of knighthood. Wealthy merchants strove to adopt the virtues, practices and manners of the knightly class.
