Test scores for the groups were compared, and peer evaluations of participants’ performance and academic confidence were examined. But when we talk about boosting students’ confidence, we may be focusing on the wrong thing. Students’ reported confidence at the conclusion of the course was correlated with their academic performance in three of the four years that were examined. The responses were analyzed and compared with marks achieved by the students on their first year engineering mathematics examinations.
I think this specificity is what makes all the difference when it comes to learning, but yes, low self-esteem at any age is not going to help the situation!
