By Bob Dean, Human Interest Reporter The people who enjoyed living in the house pictured above have all moved on now. Bruce and Anna and Smith live in Steamboat Springs, Colorado where: Bruce works for a Houston Oil Corporation from his bedroom office while Anna goes to the nearby High School and Smith attends a similarly close Middle School. Anna continues her piano studies with Crystal Houston and played an important role in the school musical "Sweeney Todd." Smith enjoys soccer, baseball, chess and his studies...almost equally .All three of them joined us in our Thanksgiving festivities at the Armstrong farm near Apex and stayed that week at Jim and Chloe's Jarman drive home (Third on our list of Best Homes).
Bob and Liz have moved down the roads to
The Cardinal, where Bob has joined the
Wellness crowd--riding a
NuStep machine (above), attending planning meetings and
organizing an in-house Liz continues to keep busy "Aquasizing" in the Wellness pool,
"supervising" construction of new apartment/retail buildings (below), attending
movies and lectures in the in-house theater, placing jigsaw pieces in
puzzles throughout the building, meeting new friends in the Dining
Room, continuing her off-campus
Paul continues to be a popular teacher of Graphic Design and Typography at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He spent the summer in Raleigh with us and with his brother's family and with his friends. Then he was able to return for the State Fair in October. In both states, he participated in art shows and exhibits. Jim still manages the fabrication shop at North Carolina State's College of Design where he assists design and architecture students in modeling ot their dream projects, without injuring themselves or the state-of-the-equipment. Chloe teaches at the Longleaf
School of the Arts
in Raleigh,
offering her specialties in Mathematics and Teaching students with special needs.
At home, she's missing Nick while mothering Jim
and three dogs,...her son
Nick sleeps at his NCSU
dormitory where he sleeps when not studying Chemical Engineering, playing on
the school's Ultimate Frisbee team or visiting friends he left behind when
he began his Freshman year. Some-

We purchased the house above on Mothers day in 1965 and sold
it on the same holiday this year. for 8 times the initial value. After
extensive renovation by the new owner, its value improved by 50% more and it
looked like this:
Now a nice young family lives there, ready for the next 50 years because, in 2007, we invested in an apartment at The Cardinal a planned "upscale" retirement community just 1.3 miles south of our old Poland Place home.
After waiting for 12 years and finding ourselves at the top of the list, we
chose a virtual "Penthouse" at the front of the building on the top floor.
We hung out our flag and staked our claim: ...from there saw our very first "snowfall" of the year. This was it, at its height!
After vacation at the beach, an ornamental egret flew to our new porch. We were delighted.
