Father
Christmas (aka Father Dean) spent three months
in a variety of rehabilitation centers in South Raleigh.
In one course, called Occupational Therapy he was taught
how to shave himself, Halfway through those efforts
he recognized a slight resemblance to the hero of a
forthcoming season and asked the therapist to snap a photo
while he muttered the words:
"WELCOME TO
THE DEAN FAMILY CHRISTMAS CARD'

We kept a close eye on
The Cardinal as the
year progressed, with increasing "possible dates
of occupancy" dangled before us.

Then, on December 18, we
met with the local Kisco representative, who
committed to
February 3, 2017 as as our official
move date. So now we have a believable target!

Several times each day, Bob walks around the
interior of his Poland Place Home--a distance of 60
feet. He's doing this as conditioning
for his 720 feet down long halls--his intended hike
to the
Cardinal dining facility in early February.
Liz follows immediately behind him, ready to catch
him if he falls. Thanks to his experiences earlier
this year, he makes it a point not to do so.

We've
both been back in our 51-year-old home for
more than four weeks now, following Bob's
incarceration in the hospitals and rehabilitation
centers of Raleigh.. In addition to her
continuing care for Bob, Liz has been very, very,
very busy sorting the family's accumulated
"treasures" and preparing for the next chapter in our
lives
Every time we pass the little
Christmas tree in our front window, we softly
mutter:
HAPPY CHRISTMAS TO ALL
Don't fall down
next year!
