Complex regional pain syndrome is a rare, chronic pain disorder resulting from a dysfunction in the nervous system. CRPS is diagnosed through a series of tests determined by your physician or pain management specialist. If you think you may have complex regional pain syndrome, or are experiencing any type of long-term pain, please call us today. Pain signals remain active in the nervous system for weeks, months, or years and can have lasting physical effects.

They found that a single, low-dose infusion of intravenous immunoglobin (IVIG) provided significant pain relief in nearly 50 percent of patients treated.  IVIG is a blood product that contains immunoglobulin G extracts from the plasma of more than 1,000 blood donors. Because the study is so small, it is difficult to know whether these results apply to most other patients with CRPS.
I am proud to be a part of the American Resident Project an initiative that promotes the writing of medical students residents and new physicians as they explore ideas for transforming American health care delivery. I am hesitant to review diet books because they are so often a tangled mess of fact and fiction.

As I have mentioned previously , it was called reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) when I first learned about it.  I still catch myself calling it RSD.
It is used to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, immune deficiencies, and acute infections.  In this study, the pain relief lasted on average five weeks.
Also, the small number of patients increases the possibility that chance may affect the results.

At the time I found it to be a cynical yet eerily accurate portrayal of the underbelly of academic medicine. Teasing out their truth from falsehood is about as exhausting as delousing a long-haired elementary school student. CRPS typically presents itself after a trauma to the body, such as a stroke, a heart attack, an injury or surgery.
Most feel helpless about improving their work conditions or solving technical problems in patient care. Characterized by intense pain, swelling and changes in the skin, CRPS can worsen over time. Other symptoms include muscle spasms, swelling, skin discoloration and temperature changes.
Acute pain may be caused by many events or circumstances, including surgery, broken bones, etc. It generally affects a particular area of the body, most commonly an arm or leg, but it can spread to other parts of the body if not treated properly.
These, coupled with other treatments such as physical therapy, have been shown to greatly reduce the symptoms from CRPS.  We build treatment plans specific to each person depending on their symptoms and needs, and we can do the same for you. Unrelieved acute pain may lead to chronic pain, which may persist even after the original injury has healed.
There are two types of CRPS: the most common is reflex sympathetic dystrophy, which is brought on by an illness or injury that did not directly damage the nerve. Some of these may go away without treatment, but others can persist for months or even years. Often, symptoms such as swelling, discoloration and coldness can become permanent in the affected limb.
