Pain in chest associated with lung cancer

Keeping the hand(s) above the level of the heart during work or sleep can prevent appropriate blood perfusion of the hands, and cause numbness, tingling or partial paralysis of the hand(s) within few minutes.
In cold weather, narrowing of the arteries in the hands and fingers can prevent appropriate blood supply and thus numbness, tingling, pain or temporary paralysis of the hands and fingers. Cervical spondylosis is an age-related deformation of the cervical spine; deformed vertebra or discs can press upon the spinal cord or nerve roots in the neck and cause chronic symptoms, like in the cervical disc syndrome (see above). Most of brachial plexus injuries usually occur in car, motorcycle and sport accidents, during birth, or in bullet or knife injuries.
Thoracic outlet is the space between the collar bone (clavicle), first rib and corresponding ligaments through which nerves and vessels travel from the base of the neck toward the armpit. Radiation-induced damage of the brachial plexus can follow radiotherapy of the chest, axillary region, thoracic outlet or neck.
Shoulder blade (scapula) is the bone in the upper back that connects the collar bone (clavicle) and arm bone (humerus). Multiple sclerosis is a disease of an uncertain cause affecting the nerve tissue of the spinal cord, brainstem or brain. Diagnosis is with MRI of the brain and spinal cord, and examination of cerebrospinal fluid obtained by lumbar punction.
Acute brachial neuritis is a rare, supposedly autoimmune inflammation of brachial plexus, occurring at any age, but primarily in young men. Carpal tunnel syndrome (Latin carpus = wrist) is a painful condition of the wrist, hand and fingers, caused by repetitive use of the wrist, or swelling of the tissues in the wrist, resulting in a pressure upon the median nerve. Ganglion cyst (Greek ganglion = tumor, cyst = fluid filled sac) is a soft lump, usually appearing on the back of the hand in some people between 20-40 years of age. A soft lump or lumps of various size (may exceed an inch), on the back of the hand, inner side of the wrist, base of the finger, or on the last finger joint. Raynaud’s disease is a painful finger condition due to spasms in the finger arteries.
Fingers (one, more or all in one or both hands) become pale, numb or cold due to lack of blood flow, then bluish due to a lack of oxygen, then red, with throbbing pain and tingling as blood returns to the affected area. Attacks can occur daily, weekly or occasionally and can last from less than a minute to several hours, usually about 15 minutes. Different areas can be affected at different times.
In workers exposed to vinyl chloride, using vibrating tools, typists and pianists, Raynaud’s phenomenon also commonly occurs. Electromiography (EMG) and nerve conduction studies can show the nature of the nerve damage.
Blood tests can reveal diabetes, abnormalities in serum levels of sugar (diabetes), calcium, potassium, sodium, magnesium, vitamins B6 or B12, thyroxine (hypothyroidism), sex hormones (menopause).
Non-steroid anti-rheumatic drugs like ibuprofen, or antidepressants, may relieve pain and numbness. Ask a Doctor Online Now!Rest and immobilization of the neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, or the whole arm is sometimes necessary after an injury, or when joint movements contribute to nerve irritation, like in ulnar nerve entrapment or carpal tunnel syndrome. Effect of acupuncture, acupressure, TENS (Trans Cutaneous Nerve Stimulation) may be debatable. Hi, I woke up this morning with pins & needles sensation from the tip of my pinky all the way down to my wrist. My left arm, up the shoulder, both hands and fingers are numb, swollen, and hurt when I wake up.
I have a fullness numbness feeling on the top of my forearm and its in between my elbow and thumb.
Hi I got punched at school in the arm I told the teacher so the person that punched me is in trouble, however my both of my arms feel numbness and it hurts when I pick up stuff what should I do?
Meridians of the body affect all major systems including: immune, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, skeletal, muscular and the lymphatic system. These major meridians of the body are responsible for nourishing their corresponding organ and the other organs around them, fueling and feeding them with energy.
There are certain places along the meridians where energy pools, making the chi, qi or prana more accessible there than elsewhere. When energy flowing through the meridians becomes blocked or stagnant, or, when too much energy is overwhelming a meridian these acupuncture points can be accessed to clear blockages and remove unwanted excess or stagnant energy. Acupuncture and acupressure both use the same meridians and points in their healing, the difference is that acupuncture uses needles while acupressure uses both soft and firm touches on the points to generate the flow of energy. All three techniques of cleansing and balancing the energy flow through the meridians are forms of preventative medicine. I should look into qi gong may help my right hip a LOT with the pain and stiffness, can't reach right foot to do anything, not even shave around the outside of my ankle! October 18, 2011 By Antranik Leave a Comment The thoracic cage, commonly called the rib cage, provides protection for the 2 lungs, heart, esophagus, diaphragm and liver.  It also supports the shoulders and upper limbs. Hello, my name is Antranik and I have a passion for all things relating to the body and mind. You will find a wide range of topics ranging from anatomy and physiology to yoga to gymnastics strength training and more (you just have to explore). I also have a YouTube channel which ties in together with this blog to serve as another outlet for creativity. Antranik’s Rings Oriented Bodyweight Training RoutineGymnastic rings are the best way to develop strength using only your bodyweight. The ArmAid is a gnarly self-massage tool for your forearms and here is my video review of it!
Arthropod bites and stings can cause severe allergic reactions as well as poisoning from venom and can transmit infectious diseases. Thoracic Radiculopathy or Radicular Pain- Pain is observed in mid back, side of the chest and front of the chest.
Lumbar Radiculopathy or Radicular Pain- Pain is observed in lower back, groin, perineum, gluteal dermatome and lower leg. Disk herniation and bulge disk when protrudes in to foramina causes pinch and irritation of spinal nerve. Disc Herniation- Nucleus of cervical, thoracic and lumbar disc penetrates through the outer ring (the annulus) of disk causing tear of fibrous coverings and triggers inflammation. Degenerative Disc Disease- Disk becomes thinner by degeneration and narrows the foramina causing foraminal stenosis. Synovial Cysts can cause pressure over facet joint and spinal nerves resulting in severe radicular pain and facet pain. Headaches, stiff neck, eye and jaw pain as well as aching and tingling in the back and arms may indicate trapezius muscle dysfunction. The trapezius covers a large portion of the back of the neck, back of the shoulder and upper to mid back.
You use the trapezius muscle to raise and lower your shoulders, lift and lower your arms, tilt your head side to side, turn your head side to side, and straighten your neck. Sombra Warm Therapy Pain Relieving Gel is a pain relieving gel that I use both personally and professionally in my massage therapy practice. Unlike other over the counter heating creams, it provides warmth without burning heat. Biofreeze Pain Relieving Gel is an excellent pain relieving gel that I use on clients who have sudden onset muscle pain or recent injuries.

Elasto-Gel Cervical Collar can be used for heat or cold therapy to the neck, upper shoulder area.
Heart attacks are no longer a problem of middle-aged and old the incidence of heart attacks in young and especially young males are increasing  at an astonishing rates which may be attributed to a number of reasons like lack of physical activity, being over weight, stress, high blood pressure, alcohol intake, long working hours at desk, diabetes Type 1 or Type 2,high cholesterol levels, a family history of atherosclerosis, unhealthy eating habits which are taking a toll on working professionals in late-twenties and early-thirties and being male.
The danger signals of a heart attack include severe chest pain behind the breast bone often radiating toward the left arm and left lower jaw along with moderate to severe hypoxia, breathing difficulties, sudden fainting or severe dizziness and a constricting sensation around the throat. So now the next important question is, “What should I do if I experience the following danger signals?” If, ever, you experience danger signals like those mentioned above and there is no one around you to lend a helping hand, then, don’t panic, try not get anxious, though this is difficult, sit where ever you are and take deep breaths.
However the only way to find out about any such condition is to go for regular preventive health checkups starting early in life, especially individuals with a family history and high risk factors. Core stability is quite a buzz word around the gym, and at times I’m not entirely sure people have a good grasp on what it involves. There has been a heavy focus revolving around the muscles of the deep core and pelvic floor, but we often neglect the role of the diaphragm and don’t often associate, nor consider the breathing mechanisms that underpin the function that help stabilise the trunk. Back pain sufferers are often referred to programs dialed in on “re-programming” these muscles that have “switched off”, yet the best method of re-gaining this neuromuscular control should be facilitated with the use of diaphragm control in breathing.
In part 1 of this 3 part series on breathing, I wanted to firstly define the terms we often hear associated with breathing, before we can then move on to discuss the role it plays in core stability.
To put it basically there are two principal types of breathing; costal breathing and diaphragmatic.
Costal breathing, or chest breathing, refers to breathing that involves the thoracic (rib) cage and the muscles that interact with it, as pictured below.
Diaphragmatic breathing however utilises the contraction of the diaphragm, predominately during inhalation. This type of breathing is commonly referred to as belly breathing or abdominal breathing for the reason that when the diaphragm contracts it will be pushing down against the abdominal cavity, and becausethere is no barrier in this area to restrict it the belly will protrude. Stay tune for parts 2 and 3 of this topic where I will discuss the role of breathing in exercise and more importantly “core” training exercise.
In this article, numbness and tingling in the arm, shoulder, hand or fingers are described. Therapy includes immobilization, cold therapy followed by heat therapy, cervical traction, analgesics, muscle relaxants, physical therapy or surgical decompression of the nerve roots or spinal cord. Thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS) results from a compression or extension of the subclavian artery or vein, or brachial plexus (nerves), commonly occurring in motorbike accidents, athletes, swimmers, weight lifters, etc. Symptoms may appear months to years after radiation therapy and include numbness, swelling, weakness or pain in the arm. Broken shoulder blade, usually from a car or motorbike accident, can result in pain,  swelling, bruising or deformation of the shoulder blade area, and weakness, numbness or tingling in the shoulder or arm. Treatment includes special arm exercises, anti-inflammatory drugs, like ibuprofen, and wearing an elbow splint. Symptoms include severe pain in the upper arms and shoulders, followed by numbness and weak reflexes; the disorder resolves in few months on its own.
CTS is a common problem in assembly line workers, computer workers, musicians, mechanics, tennis players, etc. It is a noncancerous fluid filled sack arising from the tendon sheets or capsule of the joint from an unknown reason. Knowing an exact time course of tingling or numbness, and eventual arm weakness, head or legs involvement, history of arm or neck injuries, repetitive elbow or wrist use, reactions to cold, hypothyroidism, diabetes, menopause may give a strong evidence about the cause. My right shoulder blade feels bruised, broke last 2 toes on right foot, and this morning and four 4 hours now my middle finger and thumb on right hand are numb. There are many possibilities for the symptoms you are experiencing as you can see from the article above.
I sleep in the fetal position and on top of my arms every night – a habit I cannot stop.
I had an operation on my hand and arm for carpel tunnel release and everything was fine up to 3 weeks ago. There are many possible causes for what you experiencing which could be related to nerve, joint, bursae (small pockets of fluid to reduce friction) and muscle problems. Third degree burns could have damaged the superficial nerves and blood vessels and may also have affected normal blood flow regulation to the arm. If a meridian’s energy is obstructed or unregulated, the system it feeds on is jeopardized, and disease results.
Often times acupuncture and acupressure techniques are used to relieve energetic imbalances in the meridians; the ancient Chinese practice of Qi Gong is often employed as well. This does not mean acupuncture, acupressure and qi gong cannot be used as treatments, in fact this is quite the contrary. She is a certified Master Holistic Nutrition Therapist and Energy Medicine Practitioner who believes the root of healing lies in empowerment. My rings program provides detailed progressions for building strength, learning dozens of fun skills, and a good mix of mobility & prehab accessory exercises that keep you feeling great! The main two arthropod classes of medical importance are the Arachnids (spiders and ticks) and the Insects (fleas, bees, wasps, ants, mosquitos, among others).
Arthropod bites are a much less common cause of anaphylaxis than stings, other than tick bites.
Back pain is caused by muscle spasm, tendinitis, pinched spinal nerve or facet joint disease.
Nerve is irritated secondary to pressure, pinch or irritation by chemicals produced by inflammatory tissue. Bulge disk presses the nerves within foraminal tunnel and causes swelling of pinch nerve resulting in severe pain. Foraminal stenosis secondary to collapse of the disc impinges the spinal nerve in foramina causing irritation of nerve and swelling resulting in severe pain. Foramina are narrowed by disk shrinkage in degenerative disk disease or traumatic injury to vertebral body. Dermatomal distribution of pain is observed in neck, upper extremity, chest, abdomen and lower leg. It connects the skull, neck vertebra, upper and mid back vertebra to the shoulder blade and joint of the shoulder. When a friend massages your neck and shoulders it is the trapezius muscle that they are usually massaging. This wrap works with trapezius muscle induced head and neck pain because it comes up to the base of the skull and covers the back of the neck. But this doesn’t exempt women from the risk of having a heart attack, heart disease which were earlier associated with older men, is also becoming common in women. Don’t drive to hospital yourself, because your condition might worsen on the way, so, just call an ambulance and rest while waiting. These muscles are often referred to as accessory or secondary breathing muscles, as costal breathing is less efficient from a respiratory standpoint, requiring greater work for a far smaller air intake when compared to that of diaphragmatic breathing. The diaphragm itself is shaped like a parachute at the base of the lungs and both separates, and connects, the abdomen and thorax. In the meantime try this quick diaphragmatic breathing exercise to get you started, it may be a little tricky at first, but stick with it, try it everyday for 5 mins.
From brachial plexus all main nerves to the arm (axillary, musculocutaneus, ulnar, radial, and median nerve) arise. Treatment of brachial plexus injuries includes physical therapy and, if necessary, surgery. Symptoms can last from few weeks to several months, disappear completely and appear again, and, in general, worsen with time. Bone spurs in rheumatoid arthritis, or fluid in hypothyroidism, kidney disease or menopause may also press on the median nerve.
You may have sustained what is known as repetitive stress injury from overworking your hands with the same types of tasks.

Also when I accidentally sleep on my arm, I wake up to a completely number arm from shoulder to fingers. It feels like my arms are burning( mainly my right) and I have to physically shake my arm to find some sort of relief.
Swelling after an injury is usually related to inflammation or bleeding and is the most acute shortly (hours and days) after the trauma.
The best way to describe it is u know how when u hit ur funny bone you get this tingly pain through your arm well that’s how it feels. The compression caused by laying on the arm would only cause temporary symptoms that would last for a few minutes, or hours at most. It may be nothing serious but the only way to know for sure is to have a doctor assess the injury. Your question is valid but there are so many possible causes of arm numbness and tingling due to far more common conditions. It is difficult to say for sure but you ay want to consult with an orthopedist or neurologist at this point. In the same way that arteries carry blood, meridians carry energy, often referred to as chi, qi or prana. Deficient meridian energy and excess meridian energy are both problematic and can cause damage to that meridian’s organ system. Similar to acupuncture and acupressure, qi gong is also a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine, however, qi gong uses breathwork, gentle movement and meditation to cleanse and strengthen the meridians and the energy running through them. These are the traditional techniques used in Chinese Medicine to cure people suffering from all types of diseases and many westerners have begun turning to these treatments as well. I’m not denying that sometimes it is necessary to go the Western route, and that surgery and antibiotics have saved millions of lives. It is believed that these two categories are responsible for more morbidity and mortality worldwide than any other group of venomous creatures.
To treat the trapezius, pull the pack up to the base of the skull and let it lie on the upper shoulders and back.
The secret to using the Neck King is to follow the directions carefully and to slowly build up the time spent using the tool.
When the diaphragm contracts it will pull down on the base of the lungs, creating a vacuum effect and filling the lungs with air. You will need to see a doctor who will confirm whether it is a repetitive stress injury or maybe a pinched nerve or some related condition. During the day my toes and fingers will go numb, even when I’m sitting down barefoot.
This means that the nerve is compressed somewhere along its path from the where it exits the spinal cord. I’ve taken pain killers, anti depressant also anti inflammatory and nothing is taking the pain away. This elbow pain could be related to cubital tunnel syndrome where the ulnar nerve is compressed at the elbow or possibly tennis elbow which is due to tendon inflammation.
However, it is also possible that your current symptoms are due to an entirely separate condition as 17 years have passed. This numbness could be due to some other condition and it would be advisable to have it checked by a doctor.
But, living a joyful, healthy existence is at the core of every human being; it is part of our birthright. Radiculopathy is a diagnosis of radicular pain associated with tingling, numbness and weakness. Inflammatory spinal stenosis caused by trauma or arthritis causes secretion of inflammatory neurotransmitters and also swelling of nerve by inducing pressure.
Use  heat therapy for injuries over a week old and chronic pain from old injury and tight muscles. The inside of the pack contains a clay-like substance that remains soft and pliable so you can mold the pack to your body. For the nerves that run to the arm, this is usually around the neck level of the spinal cord.
The compression may not have been the cause or at most could have been a trigger or exacerbating factor. It is possible that the numbness is due to compression of the root of the nerve which will occur around the level of the neck vertebrae. Why suffer through emotional and physical pain when a life of joy and health is as easy as balancing your meridians and refocusing your energy? I had my Gallbladder removed in 2000 and felt better until I came down with what the doctors thought was a perisite in my stomach in 2010. Radicular pain or Radiculopathy is spread along the nerve in neck, upper extremity, thorax, abdomen, lower back or lower leg.
Vertebral body fracture as a result of degenerative diseases, osteoporosis and traumatic whiplash injury also causes spinal and foraminal stenosis or narrowing. I recommend this because it conforms to the contours of your body and is well made to last for years.
The outside of the pack is wrapped with soft suede like material that does not shock the skin when touched. Now it’s effecting my sleep, when I drive both go completely numb, and it effecting my everyday activity. However, it is possible that the condition now causing this could have been triggered by the car crash all that time back.
It may be pinched at the back or anywhere along its course, with the more likely areas being the elbow (you may want to read up on cubital tunnel syndrome) or at the wrist (like in carpal tunnel syndrome). There are several possibilities to consider but this should only be done under the supervision of a medical professional.
Epidural steroid injection is one of the interventional treatments offered to patient suffering with radiculopathy or radicular pain. Foraminal or spinal stenosis associated by inflammatory arthritic disease and traumatic injury causes pressure on spinal nerve within foramina followed by radicular pain or symptoms of radiculopathy. My clients love this pack and it is now the only large size hot and cold pack that I use in my massage therapy practice. Your doctor will have to confirm the diagnosis and then discuss the treatment options with you. The fact that the symptoms seem to worsen when you are lying does further point towards a pinched nerve at the level of the neck.
I know I slept on it funny last night, sitting up with my wrist holding my bodyweight up, so know I had to have had it bent backwards.
It may not be anything serious but there is no way of knowing for sure without further investigation.
A doctor will have to assess you and possibly run further tests before confirming a diagnosis. Just woke up this morning with it & hard to do anything cor myself let alone my toddler son!
Just noticed my upper arm muscle does hurt like I hit it on somethin but it just follows the muscle on the back of my upper arm.
