Chinese researchers synthesised UV-curable hydrophilic resins via modifing epoxy resin with AMPS and AA. A single-layer coating designed to cause flotation of photocatalytic particles was found to offer superior transparency, cleaning efficiency and weathering resistance to a two-coat system.

Recent developments on the introduction of functionalities based on encapsulation of corrosion inhibitors, anti-fouling agents and superhydrophobic additives or modification of organic and hybrid matrices via chemical manipulation are reviewed. Moreover, doping of plentiful AMPS caused a remarkable enhancement in elongation at break, which was ascribed to greater flexibility of polymer chains and reduced density of crosslinking structure.Strong adhesive strength with AMPSCured films with AMPS modified showed strong adhesive strength resulted from strong hydrogen bonding formed between amide sulfonate groups from AMPS and polar surface of glass substrates. However, this still leaves many particles below the surface of the coating, where they may degrade the coating and do not contribute to surface photoactivity.
