The Vogue professional UV lamp nail dryer can dry and cure shellac, axium, and regular gels just like a professional manicure at a salon.
One feature that owners love is the sensor which turns the nail lamp on when you put your hand inside. Everyone who has used this lamp loves the beautiful and professional looking manicures that come from it.
The color polish is supposed to double as a base coat and not using a base coat on its own to prevent the nails from staining made me cringe.
The color went on more opaque than I expected, with plenty of shine in the first coat alone. The color was superbly shiny, more than the Dior Top Coat and looked as if a professional did it. Traveling is a passion of mine, I love the idea of hopping on a plane and in a few hours be in an entirely different world. So, I mentioned in a recent post that I discovered this Sally Hansen at home gel nail kit, and I jumped on it since I love my gel manicures. Besides the fact that the price is right and it’s readily available at stores like Target, it actually works really well. The kit comes with a small LED light, which fits all four fingers at once, and then you do the thumb separately, to ensure it gets dried properly.
Great info, I just bought this kit 5 mins ago and was looking for some reviews as I’ve looked into several brands but came across the Sally Hansen today and got it.
Hi Elani… Someone up thread said they used regular polish with the kit and it worked. I would love to start doing gel manicures at home but I am concerned about what my nails will look like after the gel comes off. Yep, I used the Sally top coat and bottom coat that came with my original kit and just used the other brand polish.
I don’t think the insta gel strips will hurt your nails any more than the regular gel kit. My suggestion after 1 week is pull the cuticules very carefully, trim it if you like and apply on the top of the gel a coat of regular nail polish (same color). Love it also but having difficult time finding the base and top coat to replenish as well as the pads to clean. They sell both kits that contain just the base and top coats and the alcohol pads as well as the base and top coats separately. Is the alcohol on the pad used for wipping the tacky stuff off the same as rubbing alcohol? I bought the gel strips kit 2 weeks ago, because I needed a french manicure for an event, and have NEVER been happy with the results in salons or DIY. I bought that kit, but the problem now is that I don’t know which one is base coat and other top coat. Yes, you can use nail art (stickers, multiple colors, rhinestones) before you apply your top coat. Great to know about the brushes… I thought one of mine was just stained from a color polish! I really like Red My Lips, which is a true red, and Commander in Chic is a kind of taupey color that is pretty.
So, which do you like better?  The White on Pink or Pink on Pink?  I can't decide! Since this post is going to be picture heavy, I won't show another shot of this one.  After all, not much exciting about white, right?
So I am super excited to announce that Couture has given me a full starter kit to pass along to one lucky reader!  Enter below for a chance to see for yourself why I love Couture! ONE lucky winner will receive the Complete Couture Gel Nail Polish Starter Kit with winner's choice of three colors. I will definitely be picking up some of the other colors when they are avaliable at my local Sally Beauty Supply.  How about you?
Meilily Product Pick, Photos & Swatches: Long-lasting CND Shellac Gel Nail Polish Manicure!
I recently tested out this new gel manicure and came away with my fingernails transformed into glossy, shiny gems of polished goodness, an effect that lasted two whole weeks!
Each layer is typically cured one hand at a time so that one hand gets painted while the other cures.  The timing works out well, but they usually say to give it about 50 minutes total. Gel polish manicures vary in price by the salon, but I found a salon in San Francisco that charges $28 while another salon in the same city charges $37!  So, shop around! The bottom of this Gelish LED lamp is magnetic so it can be removed so that it can be cleaned. Shellac manicure looks like nail extension, but it’s unlike gel because nail plate is not heavier, and the polish remains bright shine. Shellac has a broad palette of stylish and trendy shades. The main color palette of nail polish Shellac is represented by twelve shades. You can get even more shades of Shellac by mixing two or three different colors of the primary color palette.

The nail lamp can be used with just the lamp on, with just the fan on, or you can do a combination of both the lamp and the fan together.
This is a great feature because you won’t accidentally ruin your nails when pressing any buttons to turn it on. I wanted to give you all a more in-depth review and show you some images since I haven’t seen a lot of detailed reviews around the interwebs. It’s really not that different from a salon gel mani, except you have to do it yourself. If you leave the foil on for at least 10 – 13 minutes, the polish will literally flake off. Then, you can shape and file and attend to your cuticles and whatnot, and start the polishing process. There’s a base coat, then LED curing, then 2 coats (or more, if you prefer) of color, with curing after each, and then a top coat with curing. There are lots of sites out there that say putting gel on your nails for so long (2 weeks) is damaging.
It lasted 5 days before any problems (one day is a miracle on my nails) so for a first try, I say that’s good!
I wanted to redo them to something different on Sunday but we had a family emergency so it hasn’t happened yet but they are still going strong with no touch ups!
I’ve never had this polish chip, so I never have the need to reapply only on a small area of a nail. You won’t believe but I use this trick for up 1 month (redoing cuticule and new coat every week)! Initially used alcohol wipes but if another brand of top coat used its unsuccessful, dulls finish. I am looking at my gel polishes, and other than the white and black labels on the caps which I think you removed, I can’t see any identifying markers that distinguishes one from the other. I’ve used the regular strips before, and I agree it seems to wasteful to throw them out, especially if you are only using 2.
I took it off because the polish had started peeling from the cuticles (which was probably because of extra polish on my cuticles) and because I had gotten some new colors I was dying to try out.
Usually when I do my nails with regular polish, I start at the cuticle and work my way down. Nails will easily stay this glossy over time – Amazing!  You can also see subtle layers of shimmer sitting atop each nail, and shades can be combined. This LED nail lamp is designed for fast, efficient gel curing leaving you with incredibly smooth and level dry gel nails. Everyone who owns it thinks that it was well worth the investment especially when you consider the amount of money that you could spend in a salon and the amount of time that this LED nail lamp will last. The removable piece also means that you can put your foot in and give yourself a great gel pedicure.
In order for it to be turned on the lamp must be plugged in, and then the plug removed for it to shut off. I recommend to do Shellac manicure and pedicure only in specialized beauty salons. Since due to dry in UV-lamp, it saves time and avoids the problem of oiled surface.
The biggest complaint about this nail lamp is that it doesn’t seem as though the included fan does anything beside make a noise.
This nail lamp is perfect for people who have busy schedules and can’t find the time to go to the salon regularly. For this review, however, I followed their instructions and skipped my regular base coat, but I don't recommend this at all if you paint your nails regularly. You could get away with one coat if you wanted, it's that glossy and has excellent color payoff. Join one girl’s adventure in trying to do ALL OF THE THINGS good and bad in an effort to find enlightenment and meaning. It lasts plenty long, but my nails grow so fast that after a week or 10 days, I need to redo it because the growth looks weird. Then you use some alcohol (or the little alcohol pads the kit provides) to wipe them clean and shine them up. If you warm the polish (run the sealed bottle under hot water) and polish in a warm place it’s easier to get thin coats.
I have used the SensatioNail again and didn’t have that problem, so it makes sense that it would be something other than the brand that was the issue. I have a lot of colors already that I love and I would like to still use them with the gel! If you let the gel come off all the way (by putting some cotton with acetone on it and wrapping the whole thing in foil), instead of peeling or prying it off, I haven’t experienced any weakening of my nails. I could have just fixed the 2 issue nails but I loved the excuse to play with a different gel brand polish I bought. They are super thin, and they wrinkle easily and can fold over on themselves… I could just never get them to work properly.
As I had already an AXXIUM pot T home, I decided to go one step forwardand use my favorite color with Sally Hansen gel polish home kit.

Once, I accidentally put the base coat on as a top coat and it didn’t shine up properly at the end. I just wanted to know if you can add your own nail art like rhinestones, stockers or stamping right before the top coat? I naturally have weak nails and the gel polish helps to keep them from breaking without ruining them. Honestly, the only difference I can tell between the salon and home version is that you have to do the home version yourself! I did a little research online and it seems that nail techs who use the gel over acrylic don’t use the base coat. I did the last step and wiped them off with the alcohol pads and yes the stickiness went away but my nails went from super shiny to kind of flat and dull Is there something I did wrong when I wiped them down or should I use a different top coat? I also like Pat on the Black, which is close to the ever-popular Lincoln Park After Dark OPI color. I was thinking about doing them like normal then after the top coat and alcohol step, do my design then use the top coat again with led light? My nails normally don’t look so good – I will definitely never get a regular manicure again!
This amazing nail lamp is guaranteed to last for years and give you nails as beautiful as ones you would get at the salon.
The LED nail lamp also has an adjustable cover which shields your eyes from being burned by the bright lights. So having the option of doing it at home more frequently and not having to pay for all those salon visits is great. This Sally version comes off really well, as long as you keep them wrapped for the allotted time.
If you try to hurry it up and check it after 8 minutes or so, there will likely still be some polish adhered to the nail, which can be hard to pry off. I’ve tried keeping them in a sealed ziploc baggie, which helps, but you still need to use them fairly quickly. The LED lights dry nails infinitely faster than UV lamps, and unlike UV lamps the bulbs will never need replacing. There are LEDs placed on the side of the lamp as well making it simple to cure your thumb nails. So this kit is actually polish that you paint on your nails, like a regular gel mani at the salon. I pay $45 for each gel mani at the salon, so by using it twice it will have paid for itself. If you aren’t familiar with the wrapping version of removing gel polish, you take a cotton ball, soak it in acetone polish remover, put it on the nail and wrap it in aluminum foil to keep it on there.
Or, if you get any on your skin, that can affect it because it pulls off your skin and then takes some off the nail with it. That said, I had gel manis at salons that did these things for a while, so my nails were slightly weakened from those manis, but the parts of my nail that are grown out and have only had the at home gel are quite strong.
It’s absolutely necessary use a thin coat or prolong the expose time, and the last step of using the cleanser alchool pad too.
With the SensatioNail, did you use the Sally base & top or the SensatioNail base & top?
I just got my kit today and didnt have much time to spend on my initial application so I only did one color coat. Many people like to cure their thumbs seperately, but that is not necessary with this particular lamp.
What I do at home is take those flat cotton rounds, like these, cut them in half, and soak them in some acetone. On the polish front, you do have to use the special gel polish, not just any regular polish. I find Sally Hansen has a good, though limited, range of colors, but what I don’t know is whether you can use *other* brands of gel polish with this system. The strips on the other hand, I put on my toes and cured with top coat and they’re just fine. I would maybe try wiping all your nails with alcohol before applying the polish and being extra sure that there’s no polish on your skin.
I also have tons of high powered UV light bulbs for my DIY screen printing hobby…It does work, my toes are proof along with my nails curing.
And, yes, I wash & then swipe with acetone remover (not enough to ruin acrylic) then I buff to remove any shine.
