Works on natural nails – While you can add length if you choose, Soak-off Gel Polish can be used over a natural nail like traditional polish. You can layer polish on top – If you want to change your color mid-manicure, you can. Cost – Soak-off Gel Polish can only be applied by a professional and the service is more costly than a traditional manicure. Removal – While Sakura offers fill-ins, if you want to change your color, you must completely remove the polish every time. So how many of you are curious about Soak-off Gel Polish?  Have you tried it?  Tell us about your experience, including which brand you used, in the comments! Sat reading this with my poor old thumbs in tatters again – all my nails peel really badly but the thumbs worst of all and they take soooo long to re-grow. When I first got them put on, my natural nails were so short I had them do extensions with the Bio gel. Thanks for your detailed reply, I like the idea of having something strengthening over the top of my natural nails that could be there til it grows out taking all my nasty flakes with it but I am not sure that bio sculpture is exactly what I am looking for as I don’t want them on permanently. In my personal experience, and humble opinion, Bios are best on the natural nail, without any extensions. Nah, I keep my nails pretty short and I actually enjoy changing my polish up about twice a week, or so.
The really great thing about the OPI Axxium is that the colors are based on the nail polishes. Gel nailpolish is something I would love to try one day, once I find a salon that have this service. By the way, if you need a good gel nail kit, this is an awesome one, plus it's the best deal I've seen around for Gelish products. Almost all of the tutorials I've seen online tell you to that you need to wrap your nails in foil and acetone soaked cotton balls. The warm water in the outer bowl will help gently warm the acetone in the inner bowl, which will then help remove the gel faster.
Stick your fingers back in the acetone and while the nail is submerged, use the end of the orangewood stick to gently try to scrape the gel off, starting by the cuticles and working your way down to the free edge.

If it's not coming off easily or if you're really having to work to get the gel off you may need to let them soak for a few more minutes, then try the orangewood stick again. They may be in need of a trim, especially if your gel manicure lasted for a long time like mine did. Kimberly HMarch 19, 2013 at 5:14 AMThis is a great tutorial, but for me the star of the post is (as always) your HP knuckle tats! I hope you've been loving all of these gel nail tutorials I've put together for you so far. We're going to basically follow the same instructions I laid out in my DIY Gel Nails post, but we're going to change our prep work just a bit.
Use your file to gently buff off the topcoat of your gel nails, removing all of the shine and blending the line where the gel meets the nail until it's flush.
Remove the dust and oil with an alcohol soaked lint free wipe (I do this twice to be ensure all oils are gone). Import charges previously quoted are subject to change if you increase you maximum bid amount. Usually I just slap a coat or two of my favourite polish on top and tough it out until week three. Had considered something like this but hate the feeling of “thick” false nails, do the Bio nails feel thin and natural like your own? Because they basically built up the layers on a removable form, they looked and felt pretty thick!
I decided never to go with acrylics after seeing the damage done to friend’s nail beds. If your wearing LPITD, for example, and are having a really obvious grow out you can get a bottle of the polish viola, it’s hidden.

The reason for the optional 2nd bowl is this- the small one will be filled with acetone and will be the bowl you will soak your nails in. If the gel sloughs off easily you can continue to do this to each finger until all of the gel is removed.
They'll also need some cuticle oil and a little mini manicure because the acetone is very drying. You can read more about them in my blog post here, complete with instructions on how to use them and links to the website where you can purchase them.
I've gotten a ton of positive feedback so far and I've replied to a number of emails regarding questions some readers have had about doing their own gels. If you haven't read my DIY Gel Nails post yet & are interesting in filling your gels, I highly recommend reading that one first to get all of the detailed step by step directions.

Then use your buffer to go around the cuticle area & remove all the shine from the natural nail. They seem to be the perfect thickness for me and they don't break or get chipped so I can wear them with a little more length on them. If you reside in an EU member state besides UK, import VAT on this purchase is not recoverable. When you finally soak off the Bio’s will your own nails be nice and strong underneath or are you just planning on sticking with the Bio’s permanently? My DIY gel nails post is my #1 most popular blog post to date, so thanks for all of the feedback and comments! That's the new growth of your nail, and it's obviously lacking polish, gel, acrylic, or whatever it is you use on your nails. This version I'm going over is going to be a quicker step by step and won't be as in depth, so make sure you're really familiar with gel nail application before trying a fill. I only tried it because I couldn't find a black in the Gelish brand I love, and I'd been wanting to try the Sally brand anyway.
I mean, they’re definitely thicker than my own nails, but given that my naturals are about the thickness and strength of a piece of tissue, that’s a good thing! Yes they are expensive, but well worth it, considering that they contain nutrients to strenghten the natural nail. I am thinking about investing in my own UV lamp and I already bought the axxium starter kit. Each layer of Just Gel Polish is cured in 30 seconds under the new exclusive ibd Jet LED Cure Lamp or in two minutes with the ibd Jet UV Light.
Using the warm water is the only safe way to give the acetone a "little boost" in temperature when removing artificial nails. You might be tempted to peek early, but it'll be much quicker if you just keep them soaking for the first 10 minutes without taking them out to look at them. So I plan on staying with the Bio gel until my own nails indicate that it’s not a good thing.
I work in the dental field so I’m always using my hands and fingernails as tools (gloved of course) My nails look so natural and strong. She thought it was pure acetone and it wasn't soaking the nails off hardly at all, so she used an orangewood stick to kind of pry the product off, thus peeling a few layers of her own nails off with it. If you have very dry nails, I'd advise taking a break from gels for a bit in between sets. I keep a bottle of it on my night stand and try to remember to apply it nightly before bed while I'm watching TV or reading a book.
After the first one is done curing, simply apply another layer directly over it and cure it again.
Just remember- every coat you do MUST BE CURED individually before adding another layer on top of it.
I want to try some more but I've been trying not to spend so much on nail stuff lately.
