To move a non-active window (behind another, but part is showing) without making it become active, hold down the command key before clicking on the title bar and moving the window.

REBUILDING A DESKTOP:

1.Boot your Macintosh as you normally do, if it's already on, then go to step2.

2.Quit all open applications leaving only the Finder active.

3.Press and hold the OPTION and COMMAND (has an 'open' apple symbol on it). With these 2 keys held down, press the ESC (escape) key.

4.You should see a dialog that says "Force Finder to quit?", let go fo the ESC key (keep the other 2 keys held down), and click the FORCE QUIT button.

5.Keep the OPTION and COMMAND keys down as the Finder re-launches, in a moment, a dialog asking you to rebuild the desktop will be shown. When it is displayed, let go of the OPTION and COMMAND keys, and click OK.

6.A progress bar will appear, and the Desktop will be rebuilt.
