Once the teams have shopped for their antiques, the experts go shopping with any leftover money. Before the sale, our presenter and the auctioneer discuss the chances of each item making or losing money for the teams.
To applyWe love to receive applications from enthusiastic viewers who are keen to appear on the show. As we're a small team working on a programme that is broadcast daily, we regret that we don't have the time to reply to every application individually. At the fairYou'll be welcomed by the Bargain Hunt team and meet our presenter and the other teams being filmed that day (we film the shopping for two programmes in one day).
The important thing to remember during filming is to be talkative and discuss possible items with your team-mate and expert. You'll have one hour to shop, but as you are being filmed we need to stop regularly to get the shots we need to make the programme. You must buy three items; the idea is to pick items you think will make a profit at auction, not necessarily things that you personally like.
When you've bought all three items our presenter will ask which items you like best and how much you've spent.
Each team needs to wait outside the sale room except from when their own lots are being sold. Once again, it's important that you react to the sale and talk to our presenter and your expert about the results. Depending on the timing of each sale we will offer you lunch once all eight teams' items have sold. Not in Center Line, where the police department plans to sell more than five dozen firearms to the public. This item will be sent through the Global Shipping Programme and includes international tracking. By clicking Confirm bid, you are committing to buy this item from the seller if you are the winning bidder and have read and agree to the Global Shipping Programme terms and conditions - opens in a new window or tab. By clicking 1 Click Bid, you are agreeing to buy this item from the seller if you're the winning bidder. This is a private listing and your identity will not be disclosed to anyone except the seller.

Both teams have £300 and one hour at a fair to buy antiques which they have to sell at auction, hopefully making money into the bargain. Their purchases are 'bonus buys' and each team has to decide whether or not to take their expert's item to the auction. The teams get to keep the difference between what they spend on an item and the hammer price at the auction house, so it's all to play for as the auction begins. If you're game, please take a few minutes to fill in the online application form, taking care to complete all fields, as this will increase your chances of being successful. If your application is successful at the initial stage you'll receive a call for an informal telephone interview a few weeks before filming. We need you to be available for two filming days - one at the antiques fair and one at the auction.
Don't be shy in offering your opinion about the desirability of an object, potential profit or loss. There is only one camera to film you and your expert so we sometimes need you to repeat parts of a conversation or we need to reposition the camera to get close up shots of objects.
We pass on advice from the auctioneer about what is or isn't likely to sell well at your particular sale. He will ask how you feel about the prospects of a profit and discuss what the auctioneer has said about your purchases. The director will ask you, our presenter and the expert to repeat the odd comment if the camera missed it first time round. The final part of the filming is of course when our presenter asks if you have enjoyed being on Bargain Hunt and hands out any winnings. His stories have uncovered corruption, led to arrests and reforms and prompted FBI investigations.
By clicking Confirm bid you commit to buy this item from the seller if you are the winning bidder. Import charges previously quoted are subject to change if you increase you maximum bid amount.
Applicants must not be employees of the BBC, nor have worked recently for, or with the BBC. You MUST be available for both days and we will give you filming dates when we contact you. One member of the Bargain Hunt team has a stopwatch so when we stop for filming reasons we also stop the clock. This is used at the start of the programme so that viewers get to know something about each team member.

As we film four programmes at each auction, there are eight teams to film - hence the early start. When not in the sale room you will be waiting in our Green Room - often an office or storeroom!
The sale of your lots is filmed live with our presenter calculating the ups and downs of the results as the hammer falls. Usually there would be commission to be paid on the proceeds of the sale, but for simplicity Bargain Hunt will award each team the difference between the hammer price and purchase price for all the objects - your three items and the expert's Bonus Buy if you took it on. Unless you have indicated otherwise, the BBC will only use your details in connection with this show and the associated material. If you reside in an EU member state besides UK, import VAT on this purchase is not recoverable.
Just because it has been bought by an expert doesn't mean that it's going to make money - it's a gamble all round. Finally, if you're successful in reaching the last stage of the process, we'll meet you face-to-face and try to match good pairings of teams for each programme.
The expert will make sure that you buy all three items in one hour (if you're struggling they can help find items and negotiate with stallholders). We film this in the afternoon so that the teams can shop in the morning when the fair is at its best.
To ensure absolute fairness we don't allow teams, experts or crew members to buy items for sale that day. There is time for a short discussion about the Bonus Buy before you decide whether or not to take it. Stallholders always consider offers, but everyone needs to respect that they are in business to make a profit on their goods. This means that you always have an hour to look for items, discuss them with your expert and negotiate. It also means that contestants are more relaxed in front of the cameras by the time they have to talk about themselves. After that is sold, our presenter announces the results with his usual reminder not to talk about it to the other team. As each filming day is different the Bargain Hunt team will advise when you are likely to be finished.
