Similar to how Uber has upended taxi companies, Instacart is aiming to take business from those that traditionally deliver flowers, with a little help from Whole Foods. Along with flowers, you can order romantic products from Whole Foods, and Instacart will deliver the items to you. Customers will be able to pick from three bouquet options: a dozen red Whole Trade roses, a dozen non-red Whole Trade roses (colors will vary by region) or a 20-stem bouquet of tulips. Customers will also be able to add handwritten messages and other romantic products available at Whole Foods. The most reviewed Seattle flower delivery company on Yelp is Buckets, which also has a 5-star rating.
Unlike Amazon, which employs its own drivers and operates its own centralized grocery warehouse, Instacart taps into the existing grocery store network. Instacart, which raised $44 million in venture funding in June, inked a deal with Whole Foods back in September to allow for grocery delivery in less than an hour and customer pick-up at selected Whole Foods stores.

Whole Foods Market unveiled today a partnership with grocery delivery service Instacart that offers one-hour deliveries from Whole Foods as well as a forthcoming option that allows customers to pick up their order in-store.
The in-store pick-up option will be piloted at select stores in Austin and Boston in the coming month, and the companies plan to roll it out to all 15 cities in Instacart's service area in subsequent months. As Instacart's first national retailer partner to offer in-store pick-up, the companies are offering shoppers the chance to win free groceries for one year. The two companies will pilot the in-store pickup option at select Austin and Boston stores in the next month.
Through its partnership with Instacart, Whole Foods Market can offer its customers the convenience of delivery without having to handle the logistics themselves. Whole Foods Market will be the first national Instacart partner to offer convenient in-store pickup.

Via Instacart, Whole Foods Market customers can save grocery lists for fast, easy shopping and automated ordering of regularly purchased products.
To celebrate the partnership, Instacart and Whole Foods Market are offering shoppers the chance to win free groceries for one year.
Grocery delivery service Instacart today launched in the Rose City, giving customers a way to get groceries delivered from Whole Foods, Costco, and Uwajimaya in an hour.
This is the 13th market for San Francisco-based Instacart, which plans on expanding to 17 cities by the end of the year. Instacart, led by former Amazon software design engineer Apoorva Mehta, is going head-to-head with giants including Amazon and Google in the grocery delivery business that is disrupting a $600 billion industry.
Instacart’s delivery fees vary depending on how fast you want your groceries delivered. The company will initially deliver across the Portland area, in addition to neighborhoods in Beaverton (full coverage map is here).
Instacart has raised $55 million and currently operates in San Francisco, Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Los Angeles, New York City, Philadelphia, San Jose, Seattle and Washington, DC. Quiqup’s app-based delivery service proved popular when it was trialled in two Whole Foods stores in London earlier this year and is now being rolled out to seven of its London stores. Quiqup offers customers – who place orders direct from the app – deliveries to home or work addresses in as little as an hour, with charges starting from ?4.50.
Quiqup is one of a growing number of app-based delivery services that operate in similar ways to restaurant delivery specialist Deliveroo.
In the same way that restaurant delivery services have worked well for independent eateries there is the hope that app-based delivery could provide a valuable bolt-on service for independent retailers. Quiqup rival Henchman, for example, provides deliveries for specialist London butcher The Ginger Pig. Natural Products is Britain’s leading trade magazine for the natural and organic products industry. Instacart's "Personal Shoppers" will then deliver the order within the selected time frame. Customers can also purchase a $99 annual Instacart Express membership and receive free delivery on any order more than $35.
Instacart Personal Shoppers confirm incoming orders on their smartphones, shop for the items at Whole Foods Market stores, and then deliver orders to customers in the designated delivery timeframe.
Whole Foods Market customers will use the Instacart website or app to order and instead of specifying home delivery times, they will be able to select in-store pickup. Instacart also offers a Whole Foods Market recipe database and other great sources with the ability to auto-generate grocery lists for those dishes for Whole Foods Market customers.

Customers can also purchase a $99 annual Instacart Express membership and receive free delivery on any order over $35. You know there is nothing in your fridge and you don’t want to simply order a pizza or Chinese because you are trying to keep healthy—what you want is a big fruit salad and some Greek yogurt. The successful start-up has been delivering groceries in San Francisco, Chicago, Boston and Washington, D.C.
Instacart, though, takes a different approach from its competitors by contracting with “personal shoppers” who will run to the store to pick up your orders and drop them at your house. Customers can combine items from multiple stores into one order, and do not need a store membership to order from Costco. It uses a team of self-employed drivers – ‘Quiqees’ – to pick an order from the nearest Whole Foods Store and then deliver it.
Henchman chief operating officer, Adib Bamieh, told The Grocer that the retailer, which has limited outlets in the capital, can now reach a much bigger customer base: “The Ginger Pig has exceptional quality food but it is a bit of a trek to get to. He’s written widely on environment and development issues for specialist magazines and national media, including the Financial Times, The Guardian and Time Out. Published since 1993 Natural Products provides a unique campaigning edge with a strong reputation for editorial quality and is the must-read title within the industry. 15, Instacart and Whole Foods are teaming up for Valentine’s Day to deliver flowers to your door in less than an hour, with prices starting at about $25. Then, Instacart Personal Shoppers confirm incoming orders on their smartphones, shop for the items, and then deliver orders to customers in the designated delivery timeframe. Customers will soon also have the convenient option to place orders via Instacart and pick up their order at a local participating Whole Foods Market store.
In the coming months, Instacart and Whole Foods Market expect to expand the in-store pickup option to all of the cities Instacart serves.
Instacart employs screened and trained personal shoppers who go to the selected store in your own neighborhood.
Currently, Instacart is only providing services from Whole Foods, but more stores are expected to be added soon. Currently, Instacart is serving most of Center City and Northwest Philadelphia, including South Philadelphia, University City, Bala Cynwyd, Manayunk, Chestnut Hill, Mt Airy, Fairmount and Northern Liberties. 119th Street119th St - 6621 West 119th Street91st and Metcalf - 7401 West 91st StWichita - 1423 N.
