To celebrate Mother’s day, my wife and I brought both our mothers to Sushi Tei, a Japanese restaurant, on a Saturday evening.
The Gyuniku Roll is a dish where golden mushrooms are wrapped in thinly sliced beef served with a savory sauce. I think this is the first time I have tasted such a tasty Cha Soba – chilled green tea flavored soba noodles. Last but not least, we tried the Ikura Chawanmushi – salmon roe on chawanmushi (steamed egg). Find whatever you're craving, see what's good at any restaurant and learn what foodspotters, friends and experts love wherever you go. This is a must try – Love the unique combination of sweet, salty, sour and savory sauce.

When we left the place at about 8pm, we witnessed a long string of people lining outside the restaurant! Sushi Tei’s mentaiko sauce and miso mayo sauce are very delicious and utterly addictive.
One is served with a side of tonkatsu sauce while the other is soaked in a light savory Agedashi sauce. As I walked in, I could see that the restaurant was almost full, maybe with only 1 to 2 empty tables. The noodles are served cold with ice cubes under it and a watery savory bowl of sauce on the side. I bet Sushi Tei is the one of the best for the cheaper range of Japanese food in Singapore.

You just have to pick up some of the noodles with your chopsticks and dip it into the sauce before eating. Talking about it, I guess I’ve to visit a Japanese restaurant again one of these days. It was garnished with some fish flakes on top of it just to give it some taste as the tofu by itself is quite plain.
