One of my favorites on this list is One Lucky Duck – I completely agree with your words about the intimacy and environment. Candle Cafe – they do a nice job but there are just so many that I can put on my list. Anyway, I love reading sites like yours that emphasize the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. While they may not market themselves as organic, this is a very organic restaurant, in terms of the ingredients that they use.
I do my best not to consume organic agave but that is not going to be a reason to exclude them from this list. There is a new raw food restaurant that just opened last week in the East Village that I will covering very, very soon. Believe me, I am very, very, very appreciative to live in NYC, where there are tons of great organic restaurants. I’m a regular person who decided to take his physical and mental health into his own hands. Whether you want raw, vegan, vegetarian, farm-to-table, Latin-infused or Italian, there seems to be something for everyone. I have eaten at Chelsea’s Table numerous times over the last few months and below are a few of the dishes that I have had. Biking, running, or walking up and down the West Side highway, along the Hudson River, is one the best activities to do in the city.
I was excited to see this but disappointed to see in the pictures on this blog that they are using plastic. I cannot say for sure but will forward your comment to someone at the restaurant and hopefully they’ll respond.

It probably has a lot to do with the Food Network being upstairs and the building being the home of the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) in the early 20th century.
So if I go into said restaurants and ask if they can prepare a dish, any dish, with 100% certified organic ingredients, are they going to be annoyed with me?

This weekend was our first visit and I told her for at least one of our meals I wanted to visit one of the restaurants on this list. I I have been eating at Angelika’s kitchen since I was teenager and I still look forward to going there. I do love PFAW, but their ingredients aren’t as pure as that of Q, and Q has been mega-creative for many, many years, and is the longest-lived raw restaurant in the city. Each item that I have eaten there has been very satisfying and is something that I would definitely order again. I would say a majority of organic restaurants do not sell pressed organic juice (they tend to use a centrifugal juicer), so this is great for customers. This shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since Gary Hirshberg, co-founder of Stonyfield, started the restaurant as well. If you’ve never been to this part of New York City, definitely make a stop there the next time you in town. I hope I am wrong and that they are actually using the biodegradable takeaway containers that are out there these days. Made-to-order meals are served hot and cold and prepared foods like baked goods and chocolates are sold by the plate or by the pound. For dinner we headed straight for the Meals counter and came away with a slightly dry but plenty flavorful Turkey Meatloaf (more like, turkey meatballs pictured above) with sweet BBQ sauce, and two solid sides of a hearty Cauliflower Puree with Toasted Buckwheat (a delicious alternative to mashed potatoes) and a pile of crunchy, garlicky kale.

Portland also is squirrelly about what’s organic, as if I need to leave it up to the restaurateur to make the determination of what is good for me to eat or not. I did find a number of places, but when I asked, many ingredients were not organic which was a bummer. Until finding Blossom, I hadn’t really had many sweets on this trip since I last baked them myself. I’ve been meaning to get to Souen one of these days, my acupuncturist is always raving about it.
The staff is friendly and incredibly helpful and patient with our six hundred questions about the menu. Eating in the upstairs dining area, we found it to be a really pleasant place to hang out, but the real star of our Hu Kitchen experience was the dessert.
Angelica Kitchen is a real great tip since the prices and the quality of the food are excellent. This little New York’s ice cream store is actually good for people suffering from food allergies.
I was most impressed with Gustorganics because they are 100% organic & that is very important to me. Wish they had a branch in south palm Beach County, where we desperately need some raw vegan restaurants. The space itself, which projects a welcoming, laid-back vibe, encouraging patrons to linger at the upstairs tables and the bar up front also seems equally adept at getting you in and out in a hurry. If you decide to go there, then try the dish called “Dragon Bowls”, it’s delicious and it’s one of their house specials. It was so hard to pick a meal with so many delicious-looking options – such a difference from the usual whatever-can-I-eat-on-this-menu? So if you’re looking to sit down for a leisurely gluten free meal, get some healthy and satisfying food in a hurry or grabbing a to-go meal on your lunch break, Hu Kitchen has lots of options. Although locally sourced & raw is also important, organic comes first for obvious health reasons.
Most of the menu is low-carb or no-carb and Hu Kitchen is largely a gluten-free restaurant.
