In this post I want to take an objective look at the health effects of eating organic food.
Note: this post is about the health effects of eating organic, like nutritional value and pesticide residues in organic vs.
The point is that studies are messy and you should expect to find a lot of conflicting results. With the disclaimer out of the way, let’s look at what the science says about nutritional quality of organic vs.

The natural phenomenon of producing food naturally without using synthetic chemicals and other harmful materials is known as organic farming. Growing different crops (not just a single specie), which is also known as “bio diversity”. According to a research, it has been found that food produced 50-60 years back was healthy and chemical free.
The concept of organic farming basically developed from the consumer reaction against the production of food while using synthetic chemicals and fertilizers. Organic farming has been limited to small business but now day’s a new concept has been developed which is known as organic farming gardening.
In this modern era, people are willing to pay more for consuming healthy and hygienic food. The Organic Farm have a lovely little farm shop, with fresh meat, vegetables and dairy from the farm as well as Fairtrade gifts.

Members of the Ohio Ecological Food and Farm Association is to tour on Saturday one of the Hirzel Farms in Wood County.
A group devoted to organic food production will visit the operations of Hirzel Farms in Wood County Saturday as part of a 40-stop tour of Ohio sites engaged in organic farming and sustainable agriculture. Most farmers or farming operators just send grains as is on to a processor or milling operation, but Hirzel uses an air-blowing screening process to clean its grains and those of any farmer who contracts to use its cleaning process. The value-added service makes Hirzel products more desirable because a mill can go right to the flour-making process, he added.
Hirzel also has a process, called dehulling, which removes the outer covering of oats and a species of wheat called "spelt," to make them ready immediately for processing. The waste it gathers from the grain cleaning, dehulling, and processing of tomatoes at its Hirzel Canning operation in Northwood is used to make compost that is reapplied to its 1,850-acre farming operations, 700 acres of which grow organic crops.
Hirzel Farms grows tomatoes, cabbage, nongenetically modified soybeans, organic edible soybeans, feed corn, spelt, winter wheat, spring wheat, oats, alfalfa, and clover. The ecological food and farm group began its tour June 11 at a dairy farm in southern Ohio. Rotation of crops prevents disease and maintains fertility; using cover crops like alfalfa pulls free nitrogen right out of the air. The fact that average levels of nearly a dozen nutrients are 25% higher in organic produce translates to greater calmness, endurance, mobility, allergy-resistance, sharper senses, and a better sex life in the daily lives of consumers – a higher quality of life, not just prevention of heart disease or cancer. Since only two percent of the country’s population now lives on a farm, we don’t think of ourselves as having a direct role in farming, yet we each eat an average of a ton of food every year. Dairy products: Milk, yogurt and cheese are considered healthy bone-strengtheners, especially for children, but the additions of hormones and antibiotics undermine the simple goodness of commercial dairy products. Ketchup: Even besides the pesticide issue, research has shown organic ketchup has nearly double the good-for-you antioxidants of conventional ketchup. Coffee: Conventional coffee farming relies heavily on pesticide use and contributes to deforestation around the globe. I recently read that the trees have evolved and began to process more carbon dioxide than 30 years ago. Despite a slight decline between 2009 and 2010, since 1999 the global land area farmed organically has expanded more than threefold to 37 million hectares, according to new research conducted by the Worldwatch Institute for its Vital Signs Online service.

Organic farming is now established in international standards, and 84 countries had implemented organic regulations by 2010, up from 74 countries in 2009.
Organic farming has the potential to contribute to sustainable food security by improving nutrition intake and sustaining livelihoods in rural areas, while simultaneously reducing vulnerability to climate change and enhancing biodiversity. Certifications for organic agriculture are increasingly concentrated in wealthier countries. Sustainable food production will become increasingly important in developing countries, as the majority of population growth is concentrated in the world’s poorest countries.
In 2010, the most recent year for which data are available, certified organic farming accounted for approximately 0.9 percent of the world’s agricultural land.
Africa is home to 3 percent of the world’s certified organic agricultural land, with just over 1 million hectares certified. Despite a decline in organically farmed land in China and India between 2009 and 2010, India’s export volume of organic produce increased by 20 percent.
Organic is portrayed as the right choice for your health and conventionally produced food is scoffed as being ‘pesticide laden’.
Because organic is more expensive, and feeling like they have to eat organic those with smaller budgets feel stressed.
That’s why we should look at the evidence as a whole and not rely too much on any one study.
I do my best to use credible sources, but medical research is complex and I can't guarantee the information on this site is error-free. When it comes to animals, they must be reared without the routine use of antibiotics and growth hormones and fed a diet of organic foods. Although there is some distinction between farming and gardening but never the less these two terms have some resemblance. While food produced in this modern era is mostly produced with the help of different chemicals and fertilizers which are unhealthy for human health.
Thus, the concept of organic farming simply defined traditional agriculture which was practiced thousands years back before 20th century. Lot’s of people are producing their own organic food outside or inside their home following the traditional principles of organic farming. As the time goes by, more and more people will shift towards organic farming which will definitely help in its promotion.
This realization has brought many changes like people are growing their own organic food inside or outside their houses following the principles of organic farming gardening.
We particularly love the independent businesses that make the UK unique, from artisan bakers to farm shops, canoe trips to gastronomic tours, cool cafes to high-end restaurants and the tiniest B&B to the grandest boutique hotel. It's the cleaning out of all the nonfood debris, weed seeds and the like, that can go to a food processor," Lou Kozma, a Hirzel family member and manager of Hirzel Farms. The process removes "everything you wouldn't want to see in a package sitting on the store shelf," Mr. Kozma said the Hirzel family starting grain cleaning in 1979 as a way to give it a competitive edge over its rivals. As a culture, we don’t yet recognize the difference in quality between organic and conventional food; between conventional and organic growing. Recycling “wastes” like manure, crop residues, and by-products of regional industries, such as coffee roasters or fruit canneries makes full use of existing resources. Those who associate organic food with astrology or hippies may not be aware that the White House chef has routinely served organic food to the Clintons, the Bushes, and now the Obamas. Farms and ranches still cover more than half our land, and consume three-fourths of our water and 70% percent of our antibiotics. University of Washington researchers analyzed urine samples of 110 preschoolers, only one of whom had no measurable level of pesticides.
Organic farming produces the same yields of corn and soybeans as does conventional farming, but uses 30 percent less energy, a 22-year farming trial study concludes.
Organic farming preserves natural habitat in hedgerows, crop diversity, ponds, and forests, while conventional farming typically uses methods (mono-cropping and pesticides) that reduce biodiversity.  Beneficial insects such as bees flourish on organic farms, but often suffer from “colony collapse” on conventional farms. Organic methods of growing crops generate fewer greenhouse emissions, both because energy-intensive fertilizers and pesticides are not used and because organic soil sequesters carbon dioxide. Many studies give strong evidence that produce grown organically promotes non-aggressive behavior in schools and prisons and increases performance on academic exams – largely because of increased nutrient density.
It seems logical to choose organic for the foods you eat the most, as well as for the produce that is sprayed most heavily. For example, although our ancestors hunted and ate far leaner animals than we do — species closer to modern deer and elk than the typical cow – it’s fashionable these days for meat to be fatty and tender, as if the goal of eating was heart disease. Definitions vary, but according to the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements, organic agriculture is a production system that relies on ecological processes, such as waste recycling, rather than the use of synthetic inputs, such as chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
From 2009 to 2010, Europe increased its organic farmland by 9 percent to 10 million hectares, the largest growth in any region.

Agriculture in developing countries is often far more labor intensive than in industrial countries, so it is not surprising that approximately 80 percent of the 1.6 million global certified organic farmers live in the developing world. Nutritional value changes with seasons, weather, soil quality, crop variety, freshness, storage time, etc. That’s also the reason that both sides of the debate can claim “scientific validity” for their arguments.
These methods are expensive as compared to other chemical methods but the outcome of organic farming is far better then other conventional chemical based methods.
Its better choice to grow your own organic food rather going for chemically produced food, after all your health is your wealth. For example, we don’t recognize collectively that it’s more accurate to define the word “organic” by what it is, rather than what it isn’t. This information-rich way of farming provides habitat for wildlife (which reciprocate with natural pest control); conserves water and helps preserve family farms in rural and metro-edge communities.
That one child’s parents ate exclusively organic food and didn’t use pesticides in their home or lawn.  EPA-documented effects in children of exposure to certain pesticides include poorer growth and impact on neurodevelopment.
She attended GWU as a grad student, and somehow manages to keep a happy marriage and healthy kiddos along the way.
Organic agriculture uses up to 50 percent less fossil fuel energy than conventional farming, and common organic practices—including rotating crops, applying mulch to empty fields, and maintaining perennial shrubs and trees on farms—also stabilize soils and improve water retention, thus reducing vulnerability to harsh weather patterns.
The United States has lagged behind other countries in adopting sustainable farming methods. The countries with the most certified organic producers in 2010 were India (400,551 farmers), Uganda (188,625), and Mexico (128,826). Gerundio of the Department of Agriculture (DA) said.Speaking before the participants to the first Organic Agriculture Program orientation and briefing in Eastern Visayas on November 23, at the Ritz Tower de Leyte, RED Gerundio said, “it is not true that organic agriculture would hamper us from achieving our goal on food security. Studies use various ways to try to control for those variables, such as using adjacent plants and matching cultivars and growing seasons. In this field (like in most areas of scientific study) it’s easy to find some studies that support your predetermined conclusions. Lately, though, organic foods are becoming much more widely available; organic food sales in the United States have grown by 17 to 20 percent a year for the past few years, while sales of conventional food have grown more slowly, at about 2 to 3 percent a year.
Preparing your own garden for the purpose of farming is known as organic farming gardening. The organic food contains more nutritional value than the food produced with conventional chemical based methods.
There are about 25 friends and family which get together, pitch up and spend the day playing games and the evenings by the fire pit.
On average, organic farms have 30 percent higher biodiversity, including birds, insects, and plants, than conventional farms do. Non-certified organic agriculture in developing countries is practiced by millions of indigenous people, peasants, and small family farms involved in subsistence and local market-oriented production.
Several studies show that organic farming will even help us attain higher productivity on a long term basis. This explosion in popularity has led the way for bigger companies, like Wal-Mart, to get into the organic food business and change the way that organics are perceived and, to a certain extent, the way they're produced.Keep reading to learn more about the ins and outs of organic certification, the market for organic food and more. In the field there is a compost loo just inside the woods, which can take a bit of getting used to!
In addition, conventional produce has fewer of the enzymes and minerals that enhance flavor.
The loo is the one reason I'd give the site only 4 out of 5 stars (rather than 5 out of 5). Let’s go back to the natural way of farming for it is the only means to prevent the environmental and life-threatening effects of synthetic farming,” RED Gerundio told the participants composed of local chief executives, municipal agricultural officers, agricultural technologists, and representatives from the academe, partner-government agencies and some NGOs.RED Gerundio who is an avid organic agriculture advocate disclosed that Region 8 has an allocation of P17 million from the total budget of P900 million for the whole country. I'd advise bringing a torch and a covering for the door as it is a half height door and not exactly "private" but as long as you walk to the toilet with someone, they can keep watch at the entrance of the forest so noone walks in on you!
The owners could fix these problems by changing the door and putting a solar light in there but as the field is not their main income it is not a priority for them.
Whether you fancy a weekend woodworking workshop (or cheesemaking, or block print textiles, etc), a fabulous bolt-hole for a family weekend, or just a darn good cup of coffee, you must stop here. The prices are reasonable, the location of the field is very private and well worth considering if you are looking a peaceful and private group retreat!
In fact, you could make Abbey Home Farm your whole weekend away and you wouldn't need to go anywhere else. But to focus on the shop, everything's organic (bar the honey), and the owners claim that a weekly shop here can be up to 20 per cent lower than in supermarkets. They have skincare products, textiles, gifts and more, and much of what's for sale comes direct from the farm. It's proper old-fashioned shopping the way our grannies would have done, and you're sure to enjoy the experience.
