Olive Garden in Hyattsville, MD, is located in front of Prince Georges Mall at 3480 East West Highway.hotels, shopping, tourist attractions, movie theaters, parks and outdoor recreation sites, national landmarks or historic sites, hospitals, convention centers, places of worship, colleges or universities, schools, and major highways. But you do need an imagination that suggests an escape from the ordinary when you're seated in an upholstered armchair with wheels and accept a taste of wine in a carpeted room ready for friendly service and generous portions of good food. Olive Garden is part of a chain of Darden family restaurants across the United States and Canada, including Red Lobster in this area.
We were seated in a few minutes, but as we left, crowds were waiting inside and outside for tables in the multi-room restaurant with spacious booths and semi-open alcoves. Olive Garden is a casual restaurant for diners of all ages and even offers second helpings of soups, salads and warm, fat breadsticks, included with all entrees. We were less adventuresome, starting with a bottle of Mandra Rossa Fiano from Sicily ($24), a generous bruschetta ($6.50) with nine ciabatta toasts ready to be topped with chopped Roma tomatoes, fresh basil and olive oil. Dinner salad for one arrived in a large serving bowl of crisp lettuce, black olives, radicchio, red onion slices and crunchy croutons that tasted homemade.
Hot entrees stayed that way, and a platter with "Tour of Italy" ($16.25) was the best sampler I've tasted.
The tender vegetables were served over angel-hair pasta tossed in a light garlic-butter sauce. For dessert, we shared a devilish torta di chocolate ($6.50), with warm double-chocolate cake, vanilla cream sauce and fresh strawberries.
Service was excellent from several well-trained waitresses who shared duties in our dining area, and a speedy busboy was a pro at quietly resetting vacated tables.

Since I love Italian food so much and I love to give my readers the chance to win great stuff, I’m pleased to also offer a $25 Olive Garden gift card giveaway!
Disclosure: I was provided a gift card to giveaway to one reader as well as a gift card to keep for myself to experience the newly remodeled Olive Garden restaurant. The 7,441 square-foot restaurant can host up to 257 guests and features a design that is inspired by traditional farmhouses found in Tuscany, Italy.  Olive Garden design teams traveled to Italy to work with Italian architects Fabio and Lucia Zingarelli and the result is a restaurant design that recreates the warmth and simple beauty of a Tuscan farmhouse. The Rosemead Olive Garden has a rustic stone exterior, typical of the buildings in the Italian countryside, and an interior accented by Italian imports designed to make the dining experience here a tribute to the restaurant’s Italian inspiration.  Ceilings supported by exposed wood beams, stone and wood accents throughout, and terra cotta tile highlight the interior. In addition, the bar top is crafted from lava stone and hand-painted by artisans in Italy with a design created exclusively for Olive Garden.  Vibrant imported fabrics decorate windows and dining seats, while hand-painted plates, adorn rustic stone and stucco walls.
The restaurant also features a number of sustainable design elements, including recycled building materials, enlarged windows to increase natural light, low-water landscaping and energy-efficient equipment.  These enhancements are part of the Sustainable Restaurant Design initiative launched by Darden Restaurants, Olive Garden’s parent company. Cho brings extensive restaurant industry experience to her new position.  She has been with Olive Garden for seven years, most recently as general manager of the Olive Garden located at 430 E. To recognize Cho’s role as head of the Olive Garden family in Rosemead and to emphasize the importance the company places on its general managers, Olive Garden honored Cho by setting her name in stone.  Travertine marble imported from Tuscany was chiseled with Cho’s name and placed prominently by the restaurant’s front door.

Olive Garden is the leading restaurant in the Italian dining segment with more than 800 restaurants, more than 90,000 employees and more than $3.5 billion in annual sales. Darden Restaurants, the parent company of Olive Garden and Red Lobster, among others, telegraphed earlier in the month that its earnings had dropped, in part due to public backlash over the company's plan to drop all of its hourly workers below the 30 hours a week that would make them eligible for employer-provided health coverage under Obamacare. Because Darden continues to see public outrage over its initial plan to cut workers below 30 hours a week to avoid providing health insurance as a reason for its earnings drop, company executives continue to put the word out that they won't be following through with that plan.
Appetizers include brushetta, stuffed mushrooms, smoked mozzerella, calamari and shrimp scampi. Entrees include classic Italian recipes such as lasagna, fettuccini alfredo, ravioli, manicotti, spaghetti and linguini, and chicken or eggplant Parmigiana. Olive Garden is a wonderful mid cost family restaurant, I love their Zuppa Toscano soup, this is my wifes’ favorite place to go. If this is their way of trying to educate us about what is authentic Italian food, I’m sure we would all appreciate a recommendation for an alternate restaurant in the area, or even simply a link to a website featuring great authentic Italian food. The food is consistent because it isn’t hard to open a can of sauce or nuke some noodles. True Italian needs to relax a little and not be so offensively rude when posting to respond to someone’s OPINION! The food is always consistent, and quite frankly, when most people think Italian, the dishes here are what comes to mind.
You think because of the crappy cheap looking wine bottles on the wall that makes an Italian eatery? The food i drowning in cheese or some microwaved sauce so that eliminates it from being true Italian. Next thing you are going to believe is that Taco bell is true Mexican or that Red Lobster is truly good seafood. Check in at the host stand when you arrive, and we'll send you a text as soon as your table is ready. This is NOT a reservation. Menu specialties at the Olive Garden are marked to indicate inspiration from the Culinary Institute of Tuscany in Riserva di Fizzano, a restored 11th-century Tuscan village. Now, on Monday through Thursday, it accepts call-ins two hours before guests choose to arrive. The hot, creamy soup, with pieces of roasted chicken, tender old-fashioned Italian dumplings and spinach, was as good as a homemade treat. The salad was tossed at the table with signature Italian dressing, and our efficient waitress grated cheese on top.
Marinara meat sauce held its place in a flavorful lasagna with layers of ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan and Romano cheeses. The delicate, oven-baked white fish was lightly crusted on half the top with Parmesan cheese and served with colorful squash slices.
The tilapia needed more cheese on top to add flavor and texture to the mild fish, and the pasta and fine vegetables needed seasoning, too.

Olive Garden restaurants in our area have gotten a new look, including a revamped interior decor inspired by the warmth and rustic charm of Tuscan farmhouses. One of the featured wines is the Rocca delle Macie’s SaSyr, a red wine developed in partnership with the Rocca delle Macie winery in Tuscany, Italy.
But since 75 percent of Darden's hourly workers already don't get 30 hours a week of work, and Darden has been aggressively cutting labor costs through both pay and staffing cuts, it's not like this backtracking makes it anything but an exploitative, race-to-the-bottom kind of business.
For a family type restaurant, the service is always great, I am amazed at the longevity of some the wait staff, they love to work there and it shows.
Olive Garden is popular here but laughed at by anyone with half a brain, half a heart, and at least common sense to know what good food is.
Homemade lasagna, lightly breaded chicken Parmigiana and fettuccine Alfredo were a perfect trio. Parmesan cream sauce gilded fettuccine, and fried Parmesan-breaded chicken with marinara wore mozzarella, too. To celebrate their newly remodeled restaurants and fresh design, Olive Garden restaurants in the DC area are inviting the general public (21 years old and up) to attend a complimentary wine tasting. This contest is open to anyone within the contiguous United States. Limit of up to 3 entries per person.
The giveaway prize Olive Garden gift card is provided by Olive Garden, and I wanted to share this with you all! It's just one that got caught trying one particularly politicized trick and is trying to get out of trouble over that.
