Note: This recipe is so incredibly popular with readers, I decided to create a video tutorial for making homemade foundation powder.
Who pays attention to the multiple stains from morning breakfast splattered on my shirt, the 5 dirty wipes stuffed in my pocket about to fall out, and the hair that hasn’t been washed in two days, when I have makeup on? Real food has certainly helped my skin!  The past few years I have seen huge improvements in the condition of my face in particular. My first concoction was homemade foundation powder makeup.  I have fallen in love with this homemade mineral-like foundation powder. And I think making your own homemade foundation powder makeup might even give you a bit of bragging rights at the playground today. Kristin is a full time blogger, professional food photographer, and stay at home mom to her two children, Piper and Londyn. I am going to try this again – there are a couple of ingredients (clay) that I will need to acquire. We want to show you how you can easily make DIY cosmetic recipes right at home in your own kitchen. Recently, I’ve discovered a few products that may open your eyes to the world of DIY skin care and natural skincare.
Danny Lipford: Tricia, a lot of the tips that you share with us involved making different mixtures.
Tricia: So what I’m going to do is take maybe a shovel full, I’m going to use my hands in this instance, of the composted matter. Danny: Okay, and then you just let it sit there a couple of days, and water it from time to time . Tricia: Stir it from time to time, and when it’s all poured out, you can actually use the matter at the bottom to put around your plants for some composting. If you’re on the hunt for a 100% natural facial moisturizer, this might just be the best beauty recipe for you.
Treat your eyes to the all-natural goodness of this DIY eye cream that is both uplifting and soothing. This DIY Moisturizing Shaving Cream recipe is made with shampoo, conditioner, lotion and coconut oil to create a  super moisturizing, soothing balm.
While this recipe won’t make your butt bigger, it will make it firmer and more toned. Mineral blushes are awesome, but if you want the most natural formula on the market, all you need is arrowroot, hibiscus, beet root and cornstarch powder to make your own blush. Please give credit if inspired by my creations :) I encourage everyone to have fun and be creative!
Leaving behind some serious battle scars.  In my late teen years I began to battle break outs here and there. Since the skin absorbs anything that is placed on it within a mere 26 seconds, I wanted my products to contain ingredients I would feel safe floating around in my bloodstream. I use a local line of products which contain food-grade organic ingredients for soap, lip balm, and toothpaste. The initial cost of purchasing items such as arrowroot powder and lavender essential oil may be pricey, but these products will last through dozens of batches of homemade foundation powder makeup.

You can still make a great foundation without it, but if you are looking for corrective issues, like redness or mild acne to be resolved, the bentonite clay is needed. Adding a liquid like coconut oil just darkens the cocoa and you end up with a nice edible chocolate. Kristin and her husband, Dustin, have been blogging since 2013 at Live Simply where they share real food recipes and natural living inspiration. You could actually add a bit of oil to the recipe or even some natural lotion to add a bit more coverage…like a liquid foundation if you wanted.
