We dug into their famous Kare-Kare Wings, Mac’s Boneless Fried Chicken, Lechon Oyster Sisig, and Sizzling Sinigang with no remorse!
Like some kind of a legend that just won’t blow over, the people of Manila are still spreading stories about their great dining experiences at Your Local. You get to choose from four variants of Sticky Bones Spare Ribs, namely the Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs, the Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs, the Spicy Asian BBQ Spare Ribs, and the Smoked Peppercorn Spare Ribs. But this time, let’s talk about the other items on Silantro’s menu that also deserve a share of the limelight.
If you’ve had it up to here *points to head* with ramen, there’s another Japanese food item that might start off a fresh, new craze. Their bestseller is the Deluxe Okonomiyaki because it’s loaded with EVERYTHING like squid, pork, shrimp, octopus, beef, scallops, and chicken. Le Petit Souffle’s interiors can make any ho hum day feel like a special occasion, as Ruth S. If you haven’t experienced the warmth of OOMA’s comfort food, here are some of the dishes you can’t miss out on according to Dennis O.
But fret not if you have no patience for long queues because they have a new stall in BGC, and it has two cashiers for faster service!
Also noteworthy: aside from their to-die-for white sauce, they now have barbecue sauce too! BLK 513’s froyo may look like something Darth Vader would eat, but don’t let its unusually dark color scare you. You can customize your US premium soft-serve yogurt with indulgent artisan sauces like Cereal Milk, Hot Nutella Fudge, Spice Cookie Caramel, and Salted Chocolate Gravy, as well as crunchy bits like Oreo Pie, Dark Chocolate Macaroon Granola, and White Chocolate Oldie.
The minced pork is delicately wrapped in translucent, melt-in-your-mouth dough skin, pleated and twisted at the top to hold everything in (try counting the folds because the perfect DTF XLB has at least eighteen!) Once these little parcels are steamed, the gelatinous substance in the pork melts to create the flavorful soup we love slurping so much. While you’re waiting to be seated, you can watch the chefs at work in the open kitchen, their hands rolling and wrapping away with mesmerizing deftness.
Their noodles have a chewier texture even if these are rice noodles (just by experience, egg noodles seem to retain their chewy consistency longer in hot broth), and the clear broth that has a slight salty-spicy kick. The Halal Guys PH is set to open in Manila on October 13, 2015 at the Food Hall of Mega Fashion Hall SM Megamall. I was one of those who kept an eye on them since the rumor started spreading that this iconic America-Halal street food franchise will hit Manila shore. Thanks to businessman Jaime Daez for bringing the franchise here in Manila because now, many Filipinos will get to understand why The Halal Guys is such a big deal in food world. The sneak preview yesterday was filled with excitement as every guests were treated to experience a real dining set up at The Halal Guys. With clockwork precision not devoid of friendly gestures, the hardworking food staff at The Halal Guys whipped up every food order as if they were equally excited to let the guests try the food they prepared.
Excited to try everything on the menu, I opted for the Gyro and Chicken Combo over Rice, New York Size (Php499 with drink). And the white sauce - one cannot really help but ask for an extra serving because it is just so good and so perfect combination for the meat. Of course, dining at The Halal Guys wouldn't be complete without their iconic white sauce and the hot sauce. I had a grand time finishing my Falafel Sandwich but I got my eyes on the Gyro and Chicken Sandwiches on my next visit. Everything we had was New York size because when eating something as delicious as these grubs, it is the only way to go, to be honest. Judging by their look, it goes to show that we were all happy and satisfied with our grubs. Aside from the gilded pillars, it's the amazing scent enveloping the air at the lobby that delights me whenever I visit Dusit Thani Manila. Once you enter the lobby and take a huge whiff of that floral scent {just so you know, I'm not gonna let this one go}, turn right.

The Seafood Station: Just like in other buffet places, you can ask them to cook your favorite seafood in the manner that pleases you - from chili garlic to sinigang. I only allowed myself to have a small portion of the other dishes just so I could overindulge in the biryanis, basmati, and the buttered chicken masala. The Pantry, as well as the rest of the food outlets at Dusit Thani Manila, is Halal certified.
After taking a quick ocular at the details of the great hall, why not have lunch buffet at the Cafe Ilang Ilang? The Chicken Prawn Roller, on the other hand, is an exciting twist to the more familiar shrimp tempura.
Shawarma is one of my favorite dishes ever, and this is what made me familiar with Halal cuisine. Rattus is a single mom to a bunch of adorable pet rats, and has an appetite that's larger than her toothpick-slim body. But instead of bringing big kalderos of kare-kare or adobo to potlucks, a lot of us went over to Locavore instead and enjoyed hearty Filipino food there. Their signature full slab spare ribs are a whopping thirteen inches long and almost eight inches wide.
Okonomiyaki, aka Japanese “pancakes” or “pizzas,” are made by grilling whatever ingredients your taste buds fancy. It’s highly encouraged that you cook your own okonomiyaki to get the whole Dohtonbori experience, plus you’ll feel like a badass Iron Chef.
Designed with Japan’s Tsukiji Market in mind, dining at this restaurant will make you feel part of an intimate neighborhood.
With no tables to eat on, you get an authentic street food experience just like how they do it in The Big Apple. It’s the first of its kind in Manila to make use of organic activated charcoal, loading every cup (or cone) up with several healthy properties. This Michelin Star restaurant from Taiwan has become world-renowned for something seemingly simple–steamed pork dumplings.
If you think it would be a fun job, just know that it takes years to perfect the DTF craft! As a way of welcoming their new customers, they are giving out a Free Chicken and Gyro Over Rice Platter (with a drink) to the first 100 people that line up on opening day! So here's a little excerpt of its origin, its current status, the shape of things to come courtesy of the people behind The Halal Guys Philippines. The menu was said to be the same as the ones they have in New York food carts and other shops - the same food items which made The Halal Guys famous.
I cannot decide on which I favor more, the Gyro or the Chicken because both were really flavorful. I am happy when I am with them because we are all like brothers and sisters who doesn't mind sharing food with each other.
Our Awesome Planet, The Mommist, YedyLicious, Dude4Food, The Pickiest Eater, Chuckie Dreyfus, Animetric, and Rina's Rainbow.
If you are one of those who has been waiting for The Halal guys to open here in Manila better mark your calendars already.
The accreditation was issued by the Halal International Chamber of Commerce and Industries in the Philippines. There is a dedicated Halal kitchen, separate from the main kitchen, for food preps that's strictly Halal. And some would say that its architecture and interior design rivals that of the decadent Malacanang Palace. It’s like a hassle-free tour around the world with the food that they have to offer, and they have recently flown in new chefs to add new flavor to their current roster of menu. You definitely shouldn’t miss grabbing a serving of this as it is filled with creamy sauce.
My favorite sashimi and sweets were there, and pizza, which made the experience just perfect. Because the only thing that’s better than homemade dishes are ones that are locally grown, locally produced, and locally made. These hogs are probably on a stricter diet than any us, fed only on acorns which make their meat tender and flavorful.

And we’ll probably continue doing so until we’re old and grey because we can’t seem to help ourselves around these dishes.
And now that Japanese franchise Dohtonbori has opened in Manila, we’ve been grilling and eating a whole lot the past month!
You’ve probably already heard an earful about their bestselling Japanese Beef Curry Souffle, but make sure you’ve tried their desserts as well. Which made it the perfect place for chatty family reunions and rambunctious barkada eat ups during the holiday season. Which goes to show how badly everyone wants to get their hands on these Guy’s Gyro and Chicken Platters. But once you open your bamboo steamer basket to reveal these famous xiao long baos, you know they’re nothing short of artistic.
New York size, I tell you, is humongous it can be for sharing, or not if you got a big appetite. I am guessing there's going to be some long lines because this opening is very much anticipated. But of course, if you're gonna brave the traffic {it doesn't matter what day it is}, it'll take more than gold columns and a wonderful scent, right?
Both the skin and the meat are rightfully seasoned; just enough flavor to give way to the sauces. The doughnuts, churros, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and shot glass treats are really good, too!
Dusit Thani Manila is the first 5-star hotel in the Makati CBD to receive the Halal certification for 2016.
Right beside your bed is a cup of heartwarming jasmine tea to invigorate your senses with its energy boosting aroma. Once you get past the entrance of the hotel, you are greeted by a great hall that takes you a hundred years back. Executive Chef Konrad Walter has much to recommend such as the Japanese, Italian, and Filipino, particularly the Halal menu and desserts and pastries.
One might think it’s hot or spicy, but it actually tastes like regular creamy dark chocolate, plus the added kick of warmth on the throat. Of course, from my platter of Halal food, my favorites were the Shawarma, Beef Kebab, and creamy Janeer Alfrezy. The meat was flavorful and the side of gravy made it even more impossible to not lick the plate clean. The Valrhona Guanaja 70% Dark Chocolate Souffle, the Matcha Souffle Pancake, the Salted Egg Caramel Parfait, and the Manchego Parmesan Cheesecake mustn’t be missed! The holiday season seemed to have given everyone bigger appetites, hence the undying lines at their Megamall branch last month. Oh and FYI, their Hot Sauce will make you feel like you swallowed the sun, so proceed with caution when adding it to your food! The only station I saw at The Pantry where people hurriedly cluster to get a hunk was, yes, the Lechon Station. Then, you walk outside of your room toward the lush green landscape that lines the facade of the historic Manila Hotel. All of their pizzas are made from scratch, 100% fresh and baked in a traditional wood-fired oven. The soft texture melts like butter in the mouth, and it has a light flavor that is a cross between tofu and bread.
Waiters and waitresses were friendly and approachable and they know the menu like the back of their hands.
Here you can find different pastas with traditional Italian sauces, 100% authentic and proudly made by Chef Marco.
