This is pretty neat– perfect timing for hands on teaching to be incorporated here at our homestead as planting the garden and seedlings is in full swing! I also found great info about plants that repel garden bugs.  I created a chart for that, too!
If the plant you are looking for is not listed, check out the website above.  I did not include all of the plants listed on the website. As for me, I think no garden is too small to worry about companion planting–especially things that should not be planted close together.
It’s a great idea and great resource so thought I would share the difference in case you wanted to fix the chart. I have found that planting twigs of Rosemary around other plants helps to keep the squirrels (and my dog) away.
Last year I created and posted a few helpful garden journal printables, including a seed starting guide and a pest and disease log. If you plan on doing square-foot gardening like I do, it’s helpful to have a map to lay out where you will be planting things ahead of time. Alternatively, I really like the Garden Planner on the Gardener’s Supply Company website. If you’d like to use any of my updated Garden Journal printables just click the links below to get a printable PDF file of each sheet.
Just a heads up, Tip Junkie can help you index your blog more effectively if you upload at least 2 images, 2 steps, and blog post URL into your Tip Junkie craft room! With this free printable garden planner not only can you map out your entire garden, but plan for all your canning and freezing needs! Gardening is a lot of fun, but if you getting serious about growing your own fruits and vegetables this year, it takes some planning!

Preservation Guide – this will let you know what method of preserving is best for the most commonly planted and preserved foods. Harvest Log – use this to keep track of how well your garden did this year so that you can plan for next year. Seed Saving Log – if you are saving seeds for future planting, this will help you keep track of them!
I have been reading about companion planting and trying to keep everything straight, but this chart makes it so much easier.
We sprinkled a packed of wildflower seeds in our garden last year and they completely took over the place. For example, this show that peas and beans (nitrogen fixers) are good companions for strawberries. If you’re going to start your plants from seeds indoors, this is the first thing you need to fill out. There are lots of guides online for the best time to start different vegetable seeds, but I prefer to go by the directions on each individual seed packet. You can customize the size of your square-foot garden layout and drag and drop different vegetables and plants into each square.
This pest and disease log has spaces to identify the issue you had with your plant, what method you tried to correct it, and whether or not it worked. If you already have 15 cans of green beans in your pantry (purchased from the store or left over from canning green beans last year), you may not want to plant as many green beans this year (or start menu planning in order to use up what you already have).
Some people may not really need this (if you only have the freezer attached to the refrigerator in your kitchen), but if you are like me and have an additional chest freezer in your garage, it can become easy to lose track of what you have! If you follow chives on the left to peppers on the top and then go the other way peppers on the left to chives along the top, it is not the same color code.
We just spent a day pulling them all up and now I need to find something else to plant in the beds.

The first step is finding out when the last estimated date of frost is for your climate zone. Generally they will tell you to sow the seeds indoors x number of weeks before the last frost date. The best part is it automatically shows you how many of each type of plant can be planted in one square-foot.
This will be invaluable information if a few years down the road I have an identical issue and don’t quite remember what I used to treat it the first time. I just want to put healthy and flavorful meals on the table quickly without having to rely on processed foods, while still trying to maintain a household. Also if you do the same for squash to broccoli and squash to cauliflower and then the opposite way. If they get too much nitrogen, they produce too much foliage which shades the fruit and results in less, and less sweet, fruit. Since we’ve already determined our last frost date, you can simply count backwards from that date to determine when to sow. For example, while you can only plant 1 tomato plant in a square foot, you could plant 4 bean plants or 16 carrots in the same space. As well as having a solid history of what I have planted and used, and what was successful.
